- The Disowned Young Lady Married a Homicide Detective
- Chapter 6 - It's remarkable to be able to speak for the dead.
That day, blind as she walked along the path pointed out by her adoptive parents, the sound of horns around her was particularly loud.
For her adoptive parents, every day she lives is a waste of food.
She also wanted to break free, but she didn’t have the courage.
Even if she couldn’t see any color in the world, she still wanted to live, she just wanted to live.
But in the end, she still took that step.
She was thrown dozens of meters away, and she thought that her life was over.
However, just as she was about to lose consciousness, she heard her adoptive parents crying and shouting, saying that she was pitiful and that her life was tragic.
She demanded that the driver who hit her pay her compensation.
The hatred in her heart began to grow silently from that moment on.
Why?
They clearly wanted her dead, but in the end, they used her death to extort money from her.
Later, she didn’t know what had happened; the driver who hit her was Professor Chen’s son.
Professor Chen’s son attended a wedding banquet that day and drank a little alcohol. In the countryside, drunk driving is rarely checked, so it’s no wonder he was unlucky.
Even without Sang Ning, Professor Chen’s son would have gotten into trouble under any other circumstances.
But before he died, he gave his corneas to Sang Ning, and she didn’t know how he found out.
It was probably when the adoptive parents were crying and telling their stories…
Professor Chen’s son died in that car accident. He hit Sang Ning, and after sobering up a bit, he tried to steer but crashed into an oncoming truck.
When she woke up in the hospital, she saw Professor Chen’s kind face and Mrs. Chen’s sorrowful eyes.
It was clearly her fault that they, as parents, had to bury their child.
Professor Chen and his wife did not blame her at all.
Sang Ning wanted to know what her parents had done after the car accident, and whether they had held a grudge against them.
But what happened later proved that her worries were unnecessary.
After a car accident, her adoptive parents thought she was dead and didn’t accompany her when she was taken away in the ambulance. Professor Chen said that she was also a child with a hard life, since her son had given her his eyes.
I hope that with these eyes she can see fireflies flitting through the moonlight, walk through lantern-lit boats and rice markets, and enjoy all the prosperity this world brings, then she will know that life is worth living.
Sang Ning knew she couldn’t stay in the past forever; she had to investigate her adoptive parents’ family.
She wanted to repay the kindness shown to Professor Chen and his family.
His son is also a forensic doctor, so let her live on in his place.
For nine whole years, Sang Ning dared not think about what happened back then, nor did she dare to mention it in front of Professor Chen and his wife.
Now, Gu Yezhou’s words, “It’s remarkable that you can speak for the dead,” have resonated with them.
It stirred up all my memories.
Come to think of it, it’s been a long time since she last visited Professor Chen…
Sang Ning looked at him with reddened eyes.
Gu Yezhou immediately stopped him, “Okay, let’s put aside personal matters for now and talk about the Ping An Apartment case.”
Sang Ning sniffed and said with a smile, “Okay.”
Gu Yezhou sighed inwardly. Had he been too hasty?
They were eager to learn about Sang Ning and her past.
Right after receiving the marriage certificate, he wanted to ask Sang Ning what she did for a living, as the name sounded familiar.
I had heard of a forensic doctor in Yancheng when I was working at the provincial department. He had been blind, but one day in his adulthood, he was fortunate enough to have his corneas donated and regain his sight.
Later, within a year, he was admitted to medical school and was given special consideration due to his outstanding academic performance.
At first, Sang Ning was just a trainee forensic doctor, but every time she went to a crime scene, she noticed many details, which helped the criminal investigation team solve many cases.
From being admitted to medical school to joining the police force, he rose through the ranks and, at the young age of 27, secured his position as chief forensic pathologist.
He knew Sang Ning.
I never expected that the lively yet slightly roguish girl standing in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau would be her.
“Let’s record this. Let’s keep it professional.” Sang Ning took a lipstick out of her bag.
This is the most common type of voice recorder, and Sang Ning doesn’t like the conventional design.
Lipstick won’t attract attention when worn by a girl.
An expression of admiration appeared in Gu Yezhou’s eyes.
Before he could ask, Sang Ning took the initiative to tell him what had happened in the past two days.
“Let me tell you about today. After washing up, I planned to get my marriage certificate with my blind date. So I took the day off and went to the Civil Affairs Bureau early. I left home around 7:30 in the morning and bought some steamed buns at a local steamed bun shop on the roadside.”
Sang Ning looked at the watch on her wrist. “Then I arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau around eight o’clock on my electric scooter. From that point on, I was waiting for someone.”
Gu Yezhou: “What’s the name of your blind date?”
“Lin Zehui,” Sang Ning said frankly, “I didn’t leave the Civil Affairs Bureau from eight in the morning until three-thirty in the afternoon. Coincidentally, I ran into Captain Gu at one-thirty in the afternoon.”
Gu Yezhou raised an eyebrow: “Is it Lin Zehui from the Lin Group?”
Sang Ning was taken aback, recalling Lin Zehui whom she had just seen at the hospital. His attire and appearance exuded an extraordinary air; he wore a sharp suit that looked expensive.
She has one flaw: even if someone appears in front of her dressed in designer brands, she can’t tell whether they’re good or bad, because she doesn’t recognize them at all.
“It shouldn’t be. The young master of the Lin Group wouldn’t be going to the matchmaking market, would he?” Sang Ning said with a wry smile.
Gu Yezhou wanted to say something, but he swallowed the words back, hoping it wasn’t what he thought.
Sang Ning continued, “Before that, there were surveillance cameras at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. Except for when I left for lunch, I was waiting for him the whole time.”
“You may think I’m stupid, but I’m just keeping my promise. Since Lin Zehui is here today, no matter how late he tells me he’ll be, I’ll be there waiting.”
“Until 3 p.m. today, I received a call from Lin Zehui. It was his mistress who called.”
Regardless of whether Sang Ning was the one who was cheated on or the other party was the other woman, her blind date with Lin Zehui was perfectly legitimate, and their relationship was also perfectly legitimate.
No matter which woman calls, if she has an ambiguous relationship with Lin Zehui, she is always his mistress.
Go to hell, sister.
Sang Ning laid out the call logs and dates in front of Gu Yezhou. “The next thing that happened was that I got married to another man. I had just received the marriage certificate when I received a report of a crime. I rushed to the scene of the crime and found that the deceased lived next door to me.”
Gu Yezhou silently withdrew his gaze. He had been present for everything Sang Ning said afterward, and when she mentioned that the other man was him, Sang Ning did not look at him.
She looked out the window, as if she were talking about something trivial, and glossed over it lightly.
This made Gu Yezhou feel somewhat uncomfortable.
What were you doing on the 9th?
“I get off work regular hours during the day. Lu Lin can testify to that. Oh, and the CCTV footage from outside the police station will also be helpful.”
Sang Ning rubbed her temples and continued, “In the evening, Lin Zehui invited me to dinner at a restaurant. We went to a farmhouse restaurant on Century Avenue. We finished our meal around 7 p.m.
He drove me back to Ping An Apartment, around 8 o’clock.
I don’t really like going to crowded places, and I don’t particularly like movie theaters either, so Lin Zehui made plans with someone else.
