- Chapter 12 - A Demon’s Tease
Fu Juezhou let out a cold laugh.
“Trying to seduce me is pointless.”
“I’m not interested in women with big breasts.”
Tang Sui widened her eyes in mock surprise.
“Really?”
“But last night, you seemed to enjoy staring at mine.”
“I thought you liked them.”
“Looks like I misunderstood.”
The casual remark landed like a direct provocation.
Fu Juezhou’s expression darkened.
“I investigated your past.”
“From childhood until now.”
“You’re suspicious.”
“You look nothing like the person you were in elementary or middle school.”
Her gaze grew colder with every word.
“So…”
“Who are you?”
She refused to believe that someone’s personality and appearance could change so drastically in such a short time.
Tang Sui was genuinely surprised.
She hadn’t expected Fu Juezhou to investigate her history.
Taking a slow step forward, she closed the distance between them.
Their eyes met.
One pair was filled with icy disgust.
The other sparkled with amusement.
After staring at her for a long moment, Tang Sui chuckled.
“My dear daughter…”
“You’re starting to interest me.”
“You questioned me immediately.”
“Most people never do.”
Fu Juezhou sneered.
“They’re fools.”
“And so are you.”
“A change this dramatic obviously means something is wrong.”
“But if you really were an enemy spy…”
“With your intelligence, you’d never succeed.”
“So tell me.”
“Who exactly are you?”
Every sentence dripped with sarcasm.
Tang Sui simply smiled.
She reached out and wrapped one hand around Fu Juezhou’s neck.
Her speed caught Fu Juezhou completely off guard.
Maintaining a perfectly composed expression, Tang Sui replied,
“I’m a demon.”
“One that eats people.”
The smile hidden within her peach-blossom eyes made the words sound almost believable.
“I could eat you right now.”
As she spoke, she opened her mouth.
Sharp white fangs glinted beneath the light.
Fu Juezhou’s pupils contracted.
“A demon?”
Instead of answering, Tang Sui leaned closer.
Then she bit gently into Fu Juezhou’s cheek.
A sharp sting spread across her skin.
Along with an oddly pleasant fragrance.
Her breathing unconsciously quickened.
“If you don’t kill me now…”
“I’ll drag you straight into a laboratory.”
Yet the expected agony never came.
Tang Sui released her almost immediately.
Just as Fu Juezhou prepared to retaliate, Tang Sui calmly removed one of the pointed fangs from her mouth.
“My dear daughter.”
“They’re fake.”
“Your stepmother is nothing more than an ordinary woman who enjoys practical jokes.”
“So don’t be afraid.”
Fu Juezhou fell completely silent.
Looking at her frozen expression, Tang Sui burst into laughter.
Her smile was so bright that it seemed capable of warming the room itself.
“Please don’t send me to a laboratory.”
“Humans your age are so entertaining.”
A faint blush crept across Fu Juezhou’s face.
She had never been fooled so thoroughly before.
“Tang Sui.”
“Are you trying to die?”
Tang Sui stopped laughing just long enough to glance at her phone.
“Oh.”
“Someone’s calling.”
“Wait a moment, dear daughter.”
The instant she answered with a casual “Hello,” Fu Juezhou snatched the phone from her hand.
“Tang Sui.”
“Get out.”
She hung up immediately.
Tang Sui only watched with an amused smile.
“This isn’t your room.”
“It belongs to your mother…”
“And me.”
“You know, children who are too spoiled aren’t very likable.”
Fu Juezhou closed her eyes.
Every sentence Tang Sui uttered made her blood pressure rise.
At that moment, she no longer cared who Tang Sui really was.
The only thing she knew…
Was that Tang Sui had become the person she hated most.
Tang Sui seemed completely oblivious to Fu Juezhou’s fury.
Holding out one soft white hand, she smiled playfully.
“Give me my phone back.”
“My good daughter.”
Fu Juezhou’s grip tightened around the device.
Her face flushed even deeper with restrained anger.
She had never been so thoroughly thrown off balance.
Compared to Tang Sui’s calm composure…
She had already lost.
After a long silence, she tossed the phone onto the bed.
Throwing it on the floor would have revealed too much emotion.
“Tang Sui.”
“You’d better pray you have nine lives.”
Her voice remained frighteningly calm.
“Even if you leave this school.”
“Even if you leave the Fu family.”
“I will never let you go.”
It sounded less like a threat…
And more like a statement of fact.
Tang Sui brushed her hair back lazily.
“My dear.”
“Are you confessing?”
“Even after I leave, you still won’t let me go.”
Fu Juezhou stood up immediately.
“You lunatic.”
“If you can’t understand human language…”
“Go reincarnate as one.”
She could not remain in the room another second.
Walking past Tang Sui, she headed straight for the door.
Tang Sui tilted her head.
“Leaving already?”
“I thought you wanted to chase me away.”
Fu Juezhou’s steps faltered.
Every single word from Tang Sui managed to hit precisely where it hurt most.
“Idiot.”
Muttering the insult under her breath, she slammed the door shut behind her.
Tang Sui paid it no mind.
Walking over to retrieve her phone, she glanced at the missed call.
Song Fanxing.
Unexpected.
She immediately returned the call.
The phone rang several times before connecting.
Silence.
Tang Sui smiled.
“Xingxing?”
“What’s wrong?”
Hearing her familiar voice, Song Fanxing unconsciously tightened her grip on her phone.
“Tang Sui…”
“Did something happen?”
When the previous call had disconnected, she had clearly heard someone telling Tang Sui to get out.
Lowering her gaze, Tang Sui softly rubbed her fingertips together.
“Xingxing…”
“Are you worried about me?”
Her low, lingering voice carried its usual sticky sweetness through the receiver.
The sound alone made Song Fanxing’s ears feel strangely warm.
After a moment’s hesitation, she admitted honestly,
“Yes.”
“I’m a little worried.”
She hadn’t known Tang Sui for long.
But Tang Sui was genuinely kind.
She didn’t want anything bad to happen to her.
Tang Sui laughed softly.
“Good girl.”
“That makes me very happy.”
“It was just a small argument with a child.”
“Nothing serious.”
“A child?”
Song Fanxing frowned.
The voice she had overheard certainly hadn’t sounded childish.
Still…
Since Tang Sui clearly didn’t want to elaborate, she didn’t press further.
“I understand.”
After a brief pause, Tang Sui asked,
“Xingxing.”
“Did you call because something happened?”
Just as Song Fanxing was about to answer—
A servant’s voice drifted through the phone.
“Miss Tang.”
“Your chocolate cake is ready.”
Tang Sui responded naturally,
“Alright.”
“Bring it in.”
Then she returned her attention to the call.
“So?”
“What did you want to tell me?”
Song Fanxing fell silent.
Then quietly replied,
“It’s nothing.”
“I’ll hang up now.”
After ending the call, she stared at her phone for several seconds.
All she had wanted to ask…
Was whether Tang Sui preferred chocolate cake or strawberry cake.
Now she already knew the answer.
“Fanxing!”
“Done with your call?”
A cheerful voice came from the doorway.
“Want to grab lunch together?”
It was Chen Min, another weekend employee at the café where Song Fanxing worked part-time.
Putting away her phone, Song Fanxing nodded.
“Sure.”
Outside school, people treated her kindly.
Her roommates did.
Her coworkers did.
Which only made Hermilia Academy seem even more twisted by comparison.
Night gradually fell.
Tang Sui changed into a deep crimson gown that hugged her figure perfectly.
Its low neckline contrasted beautifully with her porcelain-white skin.
A servant carefully finished curling her hair.
“Miss Tang…”
“It’s done.”
Looking into the mirror, Tang Sui smiled.
“It’s beautiful.”
The young servant’s face instantly turned red.
“No…”
“I mean…”
“You’re very beautiful.”
Tang Sui’s smile softened even more.
Reaching up, she gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind the servant’s ear.
“Thank you.”
“You’ve worked hard.”
The servant remained dazed long after leaving the room.
After placing her phone inside a black leather handbag, Tang Sui stepped into the hallway.
The sharp rhythm of her heels echoed through the villa.
Butler Li looked up from polishing a porcelain vase.
Even his usually composed face showed surprise.
Walking over, he asked politely,
“Miss Tang…”
“Are you going out?”
Tang Sui nodded.
“Yes.”
“Please arrange a driver.”
“If I return early, it’ll be around eleven tonight.”
“If not…”
“I’ll probably come back tomorrow morning.”
Butler Li instinctively felt he shouldn’t pry.
As a servant, his duty wasn’t to question his employer’s personal affairs.
Still…
Judging by Miss Tang’s appearance tonight—
It looked remarkably like she was heading out on a date.
