- Chapter 13 - A Drunken Little Puppy
Butler Li offered a gentle reminder.
“Miss Tang, it gets quite cold at night.”
“You may catch a cold if you go out wearing only a dress.”
Tang Sui laughed softly.
“That won’t happen.”
Then, narrowing her eyes playfully, she added,
“Or perhaps you’re worried I’ll do something inappropriate?”
“I’m only going to a bar.”
“Not on a date.”
Butler Li hesitated.
“…Madam will be returning tomorrow.”
Tang Sui’s lips curved into a dazzling smile.
With her long wavy hair and crimson dress, she looked mature and irresistibly alluring.
“I doubt she’d mind if I did.”
“So…”
“Could you arrange a driver for me, Butler Li?”
The housekeeper lowered his gaze.
“Yes, Miss Tang.”
He had neither the authority nor the reason to refuse.
Not long after Tang Sui left, another familiar figure approached.
“Aunt Li.”
“Where did Tang Sui go?”
It was Fu Juezhou.
“She went to a bar.”
Fu Juezhou frowned immediately.
“Prepare a car for me.”
“…Yes, Young Miss.”
By eight o’clock that evening, darkness had fully settled over the city.
Towering buildings glowed beneath colorful lights, while streams of traffic illuminated every street.
The nightlife had only just begun.
Inside the bar, Tang Sui rested her chin lazily in one hand.
The bartender slid a cocktail toward her, its rich crimson color perfectly matching her dress.
“You’ve been here for quite a while.”
“Still haven’t found anyone you like?”
Tang Sui raised an eyebrow.
Her red lips parted slightly beneath the dim lights, making her look almost dangerously beautiful.
“Unfortunately…”
“No one here really matches my taste.”
The bartender smiled.
“There’s a short-haired woman sitting diagonally behind you.”
“She’s been watching you for ages.”
“She’s also the second prettiest customer I’ve seen tonight.”
The bartender quietly left the first place unspoken.
Tang Sui herself occupied it.
When she had walked into the bar, nearly every eye had turned toward her.
The fitted crimson dress outlined her figure perfectly, swaying elegantly with each step.
The bartender had never seen anyone so breathtaking.
“That girl has barely looked away from you.”
Tang Sui followed the bartender’s gaze.
Only then did she notice who it was.
Her smile deepened.
Fu Juezhou.
And judging from her flushed cheeks…
She was already drunk.
Rather than approach her immediately, Tang Sui simply turned back toward the bar.
Picking up her drink, she took another slow sip.
Since Fu Juezhou wasn’t causing trouble…
She had no intention of bothering her either.
The moisture left behind only made her already vivid lips appear brighter.
The bartender sighed.
“They’re all attractive.”
“But you mentioned preferring someone innocent.”
Tang Sui glanced sideways.
“Most people dress up when they come to bars.”
“But there are always exceptions.”
The warm lights swept intermittently across her face, making her beauty seem almost unreal.
The bartender quickly looked away.
“That short-haired woman seems to be in trouble.”
“She’s being harassed by someone.”
Tang Sui rose gracefully.
“I suppose it’s time to leave.”
The music inside the bar remained soft.
Which made Fu Juezhou’s irritated voice especially easy to hear.
“How many times do I have to tell you?”
“I’m not giving you my contact information.”
“I already said no.”
“So stop bothering me.”
“And don’t touch me.”
The woman bothering her finally grew annoyed.
“What’s with the attitude?”
“Thirty thousand a month isn’t enough for you?”
“Could you even earn that much yourself?”
Keeping her voice low to avoid attention, she still sounded irritated.
Fu Juezhou didn’t even spare her a glance.
“Thirty thousand?”
“Get lost.”
“You’re the poor one.”
Hearing the exchange from nearby, Tang Sui couldn’t help smiling.
So…
Fu Juezhou had become someone else’s target tonight.
How entertaining.
Walking over casually, she tapped the stranger lightly on the shoulder.
The woman turned around impatiently.
The moment she saw Tang Sui, every trace of annoyance vanished.
“Ah…”
“Hello.”
Tang Sui smiled warmly.
“Would you mind not bothering her?”
“She’s my daughter.”
The woman nodded automatically.
Then froze.
“Y-your daughter?”
“My stepdaughter.”
Tang Sui corrected gently.
“Perhaps we could exchange contact information.”
“If she ever causes trouble…”
“You can tell me privately.”
Still completely dazed, the woman agreed.
“…Okay.”
After exchanging numbers, she wandered away in a trance.
She felt like tonight’s biggest winner.
Even the man who had offered five hundred thousand for Tang Sui’s contact information hadn’t succeeded.
Tang Sui turned back toward Fu Juezhou.
“What’s wrong?”
Fu Juezhou rubbed her temples.
“Who are you?”
“Planning to take care of me too?”
Then she squinted slightly.
“At least…”
“You’re pleasant to look at.”
Tang Sui blinked.
She hadn’t expected Fu Juezhou to become so honest after drinking.
Only one empty glass sat on the table.
Apparently…
Her alcohol tolerance was terrible.
Leaning closer, Tang Sui gently pressed a cool hand against Fu Juezhou’s cheek.
“You’re burning up.”
“Don’t drink so much next time.”
The icy touch felt unexpectedly comfortable.
Fu Juezhou’s muddled thoughts grew even hazier.
Without thinking, she suddenly stood.
“I’m going to the restroom.”
“Come with me.”
Tang Sui brushed her hair behind one ear.
“Alright.”
When they reached the hallway outside the restrooms, Tang Sui stopped.
“You go in.”
“I’ll wait here.”
Instead of entering, Fu Juezhou suddenly stepped forward.
She pinned Tang Sui lightly against the wall and wrapped both arms around her waist.
Tang Sui raised an eyebrow.
“What are you doing, little one?”
Fu Juezhou tightened her grip.
“I want to kiss you.”
Before Tang Sui could respond, Fu Juezhou lowered her head.
Her lips brushed gently against Tang Sui’s slender neck.
The touch made Tang Sui laugh.
She rested one hand against the back of Fu Juezhou’s head.
“So…”
“Do you want to come home with Mommy?”
The word made Fu Juezhou lift her head.
“You’re not my mother.”
Tang Sui pinched her flushed cheek.
“I’m your stepmother.”
“Stepmother?”
“Yes.”
Fu Juezhou quietly accepted the answer.
“…Oh.”
Then she lowered her head again.
This time aiming directly for Tang Sui’s lips.
A soft hand stopped her by pressing lightly against her forehead.
Tang Sui smiled.
“Not tonight.”
“I’m not in the mood.”
Fu Juezhou looked at her.
“Can I come home with you?”
Tang Sui chuckled.
“We’ll discuss it after we get back.”
Alcohol really was a dangerous invention.
It could transform someone into an entirely different person.
Calling the driver, Tang Sui led Fu Juezhou outside.
The cool night breeze immediately swept over them.
Her long crimson dress fluttered wildly.
She gathered all of her hair over one shoulder and secured it with a tie.
Behind her—
Two arms suddenly wrapped around her waist again.
Fu Juezhou leaned against her back.
Her burning cheek rested against Tang Sui’s exposed neck.
Tang Sui poked lightly at her forehead.
“Still drunk?”
Instead of answering, Fu Juezhou rubbed her face gently against Tang Sui’s neck.
Tang Sui laughed.
“You’re acting like a puppy.”
“So clingy.”
After hearing that, Fu Juezhou obediently rubbed against her again.
“Mhm.”
“I’m a puppy.”
She sounded even more intoxicated now.
A mischievous idea immediately crossed Tang Sui’s mind.
She took out her phone.
Turning on the camera, she aimed it toward both of them.
“Good girl.”
“Say it again.”
“This time, lift your head.”
Then she coaxed softly,
“Whose puppy are you?”
“Aren’t you Mommy’s good little puppy?”
Still hugging her from behind, Fu Juezhou slowly raised her head.
Resting her chin against Tang Sui’s shoulder, she answered obediently,
“Yes.”
“I’m Stepmother’s good little puppy.”
After speaking, she rubbed the tip of her nose affectionately against Tang Sui’s cheek.
Tang Sui burst into laughter.
Patting Fu Juezhou’s head as though rewarding a well-behaved dog, she praised,
“So good.”
Replaying the video she had just recorded, satisfaction filled her eyes.
“This will do nicely.”
“If you bully me again in the future…”
“I’ll show everyone this recording.”
Completely oblivious to the threat, Fu Juezhou only tightened her arms around Tang Sui’s waist.
The slender figure in front of her was warm.
Soft.
And smelled wonderfully comforting.
She didn’t want to let go.
