I wasn’t a part of your past. But I don’t want to miss out on your present and your future.

We were never meant to be. Since you were the one who dragged me into this charade, and you were the one who provoked me, why shouldn’t I make this charade real?

I can’t let that punch go unpunished. Lu Anran, this is what you owe me…

Su Ang stared at Lu Anran, secretly cursing in his heart.

Ding Shuyao got tired of sitting and changed her position. When she looked up, she saw Su Ang staring intently at Lu Anran.

Ding Shuyao pinched herself in frustration: What had she just said to Su Ang?!

She knew perfectly well that Su Ang liked Lu Anran, and yesterday when they were having hot pot, she asked Jiang a lot of questions about him, turning it into a matchmaking event.

Yesterday I tried to set him up with Ranran, and today I told him in front of him that I would introduce my boss to Ranran.

What will people think of Ding Shuyao and Ranran? Ugh, really! She shouldn’t have been so infatuated. Now not only did Ranran faint from the shock, but Su Ang might also look down on them.

Ding Shuyao was filled with remorse. She really needed to rein in her carefree and outspoken nature.

She scratched her head sheepishly and said to Su Ang with utmost sincerity and a hint of apology, “Su Ang, thank you so much for your help tonight. It’s very late now, you should go home first! I can keep Ranran company by myself.”

Su Ang shook his head, his attitude firm, “No. I drove you two here, so I have to return you both unharmed.”

He paused, then added, “I’m worried about you two beautiful young ladies rushing home in the dark!”

Ding Shuyao was suddenly moved. Judging from their time together over the past two days, Su Ang seemed like a good man.

He’s handsome, comes from a good family, and is responsible. It’s clear he’s sincere towards Ranran; he’s a good man.

However, matters of the heart are beyond the control of outsiders. It’s up to Ranran to make her choice.

“Don’t you need to go back and stay with Su Zheyan? He’s so young, are you sure you don’t want him to be home alone?” Ding Shuyao thought of the adorable Su Zheyan and suddenly missed the little guy.

Su Ang shook his head. “It’s alright, the nanny is with him.” As if remembering something, Su Ang laughed self-deprecatingly. “Speaking of which, I, the biological father, am not as good as a nanny. Su Zheyan is more dependent on the nanny than on me, his father.”

“Oh.” Ding Shuyao was momentarily speechless, unsure how to comfort him.

Having never had a child, I don’t understand this feeling. After a while, Ding Shuyao said, “Is it because you don’t spend enough time with him? Or is it because his mother died early, and the nanny gave him a lot of maternal love?”

Su Ang looked at Ding Shuyao in surprise, “How do you know his mother is dead?”

As soon as he finished speaking, he realized it was that little brat Su Zheyan. Yesterday, he had stumbled into Lu Anran’s flower shop by mistake, hoping to make Lu Anran his mother, which was why he had revealed his family affairs.

Thinking of his ex-wife, Su Ang sternly snorted, “No, his mother isn’t dead; she’s still alive and well!”

“Huh?” Ding Shuyao’s mouth dropped open in surprise. “He’s not dead? Then how come…”

“We got divorced. When Su Zheyan was one year old.” Su Ang’s tone turned cold, and his face fell.

“Oh, then… Su Zheyan doesn’t know?” Ding Shuyao was completely taken aback. What deep-seated hatred could lead someone to say that the child’s mother was dead?

Su Ang nodded. “He really doesn’t know. That’s why he keeps saying he wants to find a mother.”

Ding Shuyao suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for Su Zheyan. Despite his privileged upbringing, the lack of maternal love would affect him greatly. No wonder he was so dependent on the nanny.

No wonder he so desperately wanted Ranran to be his mother. He really wanted a mother!

“Then…why did you and his mother get divorced? Why didn’t you tell Su Zheyan that his mother is actually still alive?” Ding Shuyao asked Su Ang again.

She had previously thought that Su Zheyan’s mother was dead. It was quite remarkable that Su Ang, a grown man, had been single for so many years with his son.

Now that we know it was just a misunderstanding, and there are countless reasons for divorce, we need to re-evaluate Su Ang.

“The child is too young; there are some things it’s better for him not to know. It’s better for him.” Su Ang seemed unwilling to bring up the reasons for the divorce.

Ding Shuyao could only stare anxiously, but she couldn’t press for answers, since it was someone else’s private matter and she wasn’t so gossipy as to pry into other people’s privacy.

“Yaoyao~” Su Ang suddenly changed his address.

“Huh? What’s wrong?” Ding Shuyao got goosebumps. What was wrong with Su Ang? Why was he suddenly looking at her so seriously?

“Please help me!” Su Ang said with utmost sincerity.

Ding Shuyao was completely bewildered, three big question marks appearing on her forehead. “Help you? Help with what?”
