- Chapter 3 - The Place She Could Never Forget
“I’ll do it myself.”
The flight attendant smiled politely and handed her a blanket.
Xu Suxin remained seated, her eyes fixed on the view outside the window.
A passenger aircraft bound for the United States was parked on the adjacent runway.
She absentmindedly scrolled through the messages on her phone.
“Miss, what would you like for your meal later?” the flight attendant asked gently.
Xu Suxin blinked before replying with a bright smile.
“Just bring me the best option.”
The flight attendant paused for a brief moment, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks.
“Of course.”
She had just finished preparing a plate of fruit and was about to bring it over when Xu Suxin suddenly stood up and walked out of the cabin.
“Miss!” the flight attendant hurried after her.
“Move aside.”
A cold voice cut through the air.
The flight attendant froze in place.
The distinguished passenger seated in the private cabin rose to her feet and strode forward, a fierce light flashing through her blue eyes.
In the final moments before the aircraft door closed, Xu Suxin walked briskly toward the exit under the astonished gazes of the cabin crew and stepped directly off the plane.
When airline staff approached to ask what had happened, she merely lowered her head and quickened her pace.
Her phone rang.
It was Qian Shanyue.
“Where are you? Who’s stopping you?”
“At the airport.”
Xu Suxin had been drinking and could not drive herself. She was just about to say, “Find someone to drive me—”
“Who? Be specific.”
Before she could finish speaking, a black sedan silently pulled across her path.
At the end of the corridor stood a woman removing her gloves one finger at a time.
She slowly raised her head.
Under the dim lights of the underground parking lot, her deep blue eyes were as cold as the sea itself.
She was as tall as ever, nearly one meter eighty, and the oppressive aura she carried was impossible to ignore.
“Long time no see.”
Xu Suxin’s breathing faltered.
Narrowing her eyes, she quietly lowered the hand holding her phone behind her back.
Pretending to be confused, she asked,
“Who are you?”
The instant those words left her mouth, she clearly saw a shadow pass across the woman’s face.
It was a terrifying darkness.
Originally, Xu Suxin had intended to stall for another seven minutes.
She only needed to hold out until airport security arrived—or until Qian Shanyue reached her.
Instead, before she could react, a heavy force landed on her shoulder.
Someone shoved her violently forward.
Already dizzy from the earlier collision, she stumbled helplessly into the waiting vehicle as nausea surged in her stomach.
The car door slammed shut behind her.
On the opposite side, a bodyguard respectfully opened the door for Lu Chenxing.
Rubbing her aching shoulder, Xu Suxin looked up just as Lu Chenxing stepped inside.
Her gaze briefly settled on Xu Suxin’s shoulder before the bodyguard silently withdrew.
The sedan drove out of the underground parking lot.
Xu Suxin found herself seated between two bodyguards.
Crossing one leg over the other, she calmly examined Lu Chenxing as though looking at a complete stranger.
The woman before her was impossible to predict.
Dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, she carried herself with effortless refinement.
Those pale blue eyes remained calm and unreadable, revealing neither hatred nor disgust.
The youthful awkwardness of her mixed-race features had completely disappeared.
In its place was a sharp, aggressive beauty.
She was no longer the pitiful little beast who once bared her teeth in helpless resistance.
Now she resembled a hunting dog poised to tear its prey apart at the slightest opportunity.
Xu Suxin had no intention of speaking first.
Only when she noticed the driver accelerating faster and faster did she finally say,
“Stop the car.”
Lu Chenxing looked at her.
“So you really don’t recognize me?”
Xu Suxin let out a soft laugh.
“Have you forgotten me, Xu Suxin?”
She deliberately emphasized every syllable of her name.
Leaning comfortably against the seat, Xu Suxin smiled.
“I don’t really remember. But I heard President Lu’s name at the racecourse today. Your horse, Amber, is very beautiful.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the blue eyes opposite her darkened.
They resembled an endless frozen abyss.
Lu Chenxing said nothing.
Her platinum hair only made her mixed-race features stand out more distinctly.
The fragile stubbornness she once possessed had been replaced by an overwhelming pressure that made others hesitate to meet her gaze.
Xu Suxin knew perfectly well that she had deeply offended this woman years ago.
But she was not foolish.
Feigning ignorance was far safer than admitting everything and settling old scores immediately.
Only an idiot would confess first.
She smiled again.
“Are you angry?”
“How could I be?”
Lu Chenxing’s expression remained unreadable.
After a moment of silence, she said calmly,
“I don’t think I’ve mistaken you for someone else.”
Xu Suxin tightened her grip around her phone.
Soon, the vehicle merged onto the highway.
But instead of heading back toward the city, it took another route.
Lu Chenxing spoke quietly.
“I’ll give you plenty of time to get to know me again.”
Those words sent a chill through Xu Suxin’s body.
The fingers resting at her side unconsciously curled tighter.
Lu Chenxing accepted a folder from her assistant and lowered her head to read.
Xu Suxin’s gaze drifted across the top page.
She immediately recognized documents related to the Xu family’s business.
Every page was densely filled with debt records.
Lu Chenxing turned the pages one after another.
Looking at her now, almost no one would connect this composed executive with the wild little monster from years ago.
Back then, Lu Chenxing bit fiercely.
Xu Suxin’s shoulders and chest had often been covered with bite marks.
She had tried many times to dye Lu Chenxing’s hair darker.
Yet the stubborn golden roots always grew back.
No matter what she did, she could never completely hide them.
She had to admit that seeing Lu Chenxing again had shocked her.
Even now, she occasionally found herself reminiscing about those days.
Back then, the Little Monster’s blue eyes always seemed to burn with restrained hatred.
And yet her waist had been so slender that it fit perfectly within a single hand.
Xu Suxin’s favorite pastime had been cornering her against the sofa, trapping that narrow waist between her legs and forcing her to tilt her head upward for a kiss.
She herself had never cared much for kissing.
To her, kisses were merely the lubricant of love.
But once she began, she insisted on kissing until the other person completely lost control.
Even the hardest Little Monster would eventually soften beneath them.
It almost felt like taming a wild animal.
Now everything had changed.
Their positions had reversed.
Xu Suxin was the one trapped.
Though traces of pride still lingered within her, she was like a phoenix stripped of its golden feathers, left weak and vulnerable.
The only sound inside the car was the quiet rustling of paper.
She had little doubt that today’s collision had been orchestrated by Lu Chenxing.
Perhaps the woman had truly wanted her dead.
She was insane.
A flicker of regret crossed Xu Suxin’s heart.
Had she simply boarded the plane and left, she would never have encountered Lu Chenxing again.
Her phone suddenly lit up.
Qian Shanyue was calling.
Xu Suxin glanced at the screen for only an instant before she sensed another gaze fixed upon her.
Those pale blue eyes watched her through the darkness outside the window like a predator that had already chosen its prey.
The sight sent chills down her spine.
Lu Chenxing spoke first.
“Miss Xu, you don’t seriously believe that provoking me will make me throw you out of the car, do you?”
The bodyguard immediately understood.
He reached for Xu Suxin’s phone.
Naturally, she refused to hand it over.
She wanted to preserve at least one possible escape route.
At the same time, she had no desire to create a scene.
If word spread outside, her already difficult situation would only worsen.
Switching off the phone herself, she looked toward Lu Chenxing.
Folded neatly beside her was a coat with barely a wrinkle visible.
Xu Suxin recognized it instantly.
Curling her lips slightly, she said,
“Did you track me down by following the scent on that jacket?”
Unlike before, Lu Chenxing did not lose her temper.
Instead, a faint smile appeared.
“I don’t think my destination is the same as yours,” Xu Suxin remarked.
“It is.”
Lu Chenxing answered simply.
The vehicle suddenly slowed.
Then it came to a complete stop.
Xu Suxin turned to look outside.
The scenery passing beyond the window seemed strangely familiar.
Just as she tried to take a closer look, a blinding beam of white light shone directly into her eyes, forcing her to turn away.
By the time she looked again, a bodyguard had already opened the car door.
Her silver high heels touched the ground.
After sitting for so long, she swayed slightly.
The bodyguard instinctively reached out before immediately withdrawing his hand.
Steadying herself, Xu Suxin lifted her head.
Streetlights cast halos of light around them.
The tailored trousers brushed against polished shoes.
The fitted shirt accentuated her slender waist, while the cut of her outfit outlined her graceful figure beneath the night sky.
Lu Chenxing stood nearby.
Her perfectly tailored silhouette towered over Xu Suxin, those unreadable blue eyes remaining fixed on her.
A cool autumn breeze drifted through the air, carrying with it a faintly familiar fragrance.
Then Xu Suxin finally saw the villa standing before her.
She froze.
Years ago, people constantly came and went from the Xu residence.
Wanting somewhere more private, she had purchased this villa.
At the time she was still in university, and whenever she had no classes, she spent her days here with Lu Chenxing.
Last year, when cash flow problems struck the company, she had sold the property.
The corners of Xu Suxin’s lips twitched almost imperceptibly.
Her heels clicked softly against the steps as she turned toward Lu Chenxing.
The other woman looked at her leisurely.
“Miss Xu… don’t tell me you’ve forgotten this place too?”
Behind them, the bodyguard pushed open the heavy front door.
Five years had passed.
Yet the interior showed almost no signs of age.
Lights illuminated one after another.
Everything remained spotless.
The chandeliers.
The wall murals.
Even the laptop she had always used.
Fresh flowers still stood in the vase, dew clinging to their petals.
Their fragrance filled the room.
Documents lay scattered casually across the sofa together with tiny flower stamens.
Everything was exactly as it had been five years ago.
For one brief moment, Xu Suxin felt as though she had stepped back into the past.
Back when she had been the spoiled, indulgent young woman who insisted on obtaining whatever she desired.
She used to come here often.
Whenever she grew tired, she would lean lazily against the table and order Lu Chenxing to kneel before her.
Something was wrong.
After taking only a single step forward, Xu Suxin stopped.
Because she noticed something that definitely had not existed before.
A pile of handcuffs and leg restraints rested beside the table.
She immediately turned toward Lu Chenxing.
The autumn breeze lifted her hair.
Taking an involuntary step backward, she asked,
“What are you planning to do?”
A trace of satisfaction appeared in Lu Chenxing’s eyes when she saw panic finally surface on Xu Suxin’s face.
She wrapped an arm firmly around Xu Suxin’s waist.
Her grip was so tight that it felt as though the slender waist might snap.
Like a wolf that had restrained itself for years before finally breaking free, she whispered,
“Of course… I’m going to return everything you once did to me.”
She paused.
“And I’ll do it far worse.”
