Manager Zhou’s shout immediately attracted the attention of everyone nearby.

The wealthy young ladies present, including those who had long held grudges against Xu Suxin, all turned to look in her direction. One after another, they rose from their seats, their eyes fixed on her.

As she walked out, the bartender gave her a small nod.

Xu Suxin did not respond. Instead, she lifted her gaze to the television.

“It has been reported that overseas Chinese entrepreneur Lu Chenxing has recently joined the ranks of the new elite and is expected to arrive in Kyoto in three days.”

The host continued with a smile.

“According to sources, the scale of the investment involved is expected to exceed several hundred million…”

The bartender watched the report as well and could not resist gossiping.

“I heard President Lu returned to the country a while ago. Apparently, she was bullied badly when she was younger, and lately she’s been settling old scores. None of the people who mistreated her escaped unscathed. She’s a terrifying person.”

Xu Suxin frowned and took out her phone.

“Hello.”

The voice on the other end sounded delighted.

“You’ve finally made up your mind? I’ll arrange everything immediately. I’ve already prepared a house and a car for you. Once you arrive, whether you want to continue your studies or simply enjoy life, you can start over.”

“Okay.”

Chen Jiumeng froze for a moment but quickly suppressed the questions she wanted to ask.

“I’ll book the tickets right away. Time is tight. Contact me as soon as you land, and I’ll take you to your new place.”

“Alright.”

After hanging up, Chen Jiumeng clapped her hands happily and smiled. Rolling down the window, she instructed the driver,

“Find a hotel near the airport for tonight, and book Su Xin on the earliest flight tomorrow morning.”

The driver slowly turned around, his eyes trembling.

Before Chen Jiumeng could react, the cold muzzle of a gun was already pressed against her temple.

After ending the call, Xu Suxin took another sip of her drink.

The sweetness spread across her tongue as she glanced at the bartender with a faint smile. Her eyes were still as captivating as ever, causing the bartender’s cheeks to flush.

He was just about to hand her the suit jacket when Xu Suxin picked up her phone and walked out of the racecourse.

The bartender looked puzzled.

Just then, another hand reached over from the side and took the jacket instead.

When he looked up and saw who it was, he did not dare make another sound.

The young ladies gradually filed out from the inner venue, but all they managed to catch was the sight of a retreating figure.

The crisp white shirt perfectly outlined her tall, graceful frame, while the silver high heels shimmered faintly beneath the lights. Her long hair was casually tied back, with a few loose strands falling against her cheeks, giving her an air of quiet melancholy that only made her more alluring.

“Was that Xu Suxin? She hasn’t left yet?” Miss Li hurried after her, panting. “Don’t let me catch her.”

“Xu Suxin actually ran away? Someone should’ve recorded it,” another Miss Lou said with a frown.

Xu Suxin had disappeared after the Xu family went bankrupt, leading everyone to believe she would never return.

Now that she had finally appeared, everyone had been ready to mock her.

Instead, all they saw was her leaving.

Someone suddenly spoke up.

“It doesn’t seem like she disappeared. I heard she sold off her assets to pay her employees’ wages.”

Lou Yuan sneered.

“Is she really that kind-hearted? Didn’t she always treat ordinary people like they were beneath her?”

Who would buy her belongings?

And where had she sold them?

Just then, Qian Shanyue sent her a message.

【What are you afraid of? This doesn’t seem like you.】

Xu Suxin did not reply.

Her screen lit up again with a boarding reminder.

Check-in: 21:30

Her fingertips paused before she typed.

【So soon?】

Another message followed.

【You’re not waiting until tomorrow?】

Chen Jiumeng replied.

【I can’t wait for you to begin a new life.】

After the Xu family went bankrupt, most of their assets were frozen.

Fortunately, Xu Suxin had always kept her identification documents with her whenever she went out.

The debt proceedings had not officially begun, so she had not yet been restricted from leaving the country. Her father’s sudden suicide had made that possible, although it was also the reason she had been thrown into such a miserable situation. Had he left even a little time to settle matters beforehand, she would not have been caught so unprepared.

The taxi window was rolled halfway down.

The cool night breeze brushed across her face.

Outside, the city’s neon lights flashed by, but none of the bustling scenery held any meaning for her. The smell of cigarettes mixed with the cheap leather interior made her stomach churn.

“Airport,” she quietly reminded the driver.

As the taxi entered the airport expressway, the buildings gradually became sparse until only scattered lights remained against the darkness.

Xu Suxin quickly searched for Lu Chenxing’s information on her phone.

She opened her chat with Qian Shanyue, intending to ask her to investigate Lu Chenxing, but stopped herself before sending the message. She did not want to invite unnecessary questions.

Instead, she copied the text and forwarded it to Chen Jiumeng.

【Why are you investigating her?】

【Just curious.】

【Do you have a history with her?】

【I don’t know her.】

But did she really?

After the banquet years ago, Xu Suxin had deliberately intercepted the bodyguard company’s vehicle.

Leaning lazily against the car door, she crooked a finger toward the blond bodyguard she had nicknamed the Little Monster.

The bodyguard was forced out of the vehicle.

Xu Suxin reached into her hair and pulled her into the car.

At twenty years old, Xu Suxin believed that the men around her were an inferior species left behind by human evolution. She had no interest in romance or relationships.

But ever since that birthday banquet, she had found herself unable to forget the strange sensation left behind by that single forced lick.

So she brought the Little Monster home.

Servants prepared a bath for her.

They undressed her.

They even helped wash her.

Meanwhile, Xu Suxin soaked lazily in the bathtub, her youthful skin as white as fresh snow, mischief dancing in her brows and eyes. One leg rested casually against the edge of the tub while droplets of water slid down her fingers.

She picked up the showerhead that was still dripping and blocked several holes with her fingertips, sending water spraying in every direction.

Turning her head with a teasing smile, she looked at Lu Chenxing.

“Little puppy, want to try licking the water too?”

Back then, twenty-year-old Xu Suxin had only recently discovered physical pleasure and indulged herself without restraint. Fascinated and obsessed, she played however she pleased, secretly keeping the Little Monster by her side and amusing herself for an entire year.

After that…

She never paid much attention to the girl again.

She had no idea how that once-silent bodyguard had eventually become the renowned President Lu.

But the brief glance they exchanged from the grandstand today had already awakened her instincts.

Something about Lu Chenxing was dangerous.

Xu Suxin rubbed her aching temples.

The image of golden-white hair flashed through her mind again.

So did those blood-red eyes.

So did the sharp pain from the smashed vase.

The memories left her strangely unsettled.

The Little Monster had always been quiet and rarely spoke.

But that day, in a hoarse voice, she had cursed her.

“Xu Suxin… you’ll die a miserable death.”

The word death had barely echoed in her ears when a deafening crash erupted.

Bang!

The taxi jolted violently.

Xu Suxin was thrown forward, her forehead slamming against the guardrail in front of her. For a fleeting moment, she genuinely believed the curse had come true.

Dizzy and nauseated, she pressed a hand against her temples.

The driver hurried out first to check on her before helping her from the vehicle.

After confirming that she was unharmed, he walked over to speak with the driver of the car behind them.

The other driver apologized repeatedly, explaining that he was inexperienced and willing to compensate them.

Standing in the autumn wind, Xu Suxin’s head continued to throb as the cold air seeped through her thin shirt.

She glanced suspiciously toward the vehicle behind them.

The driver responsible for the collision apologized again.

“I’m terribly sorry. Let me call another car for you. It’s heading in the same direction, so you can ride with them.”

“Please hurry,” their own driver urged impatiently. “She’s trying to catch a flight.”

Still shaken himself, he turned to Xu Suxin with concern.

“Fortunately, the fare has already been settled. We were lucky. For a second, I thought we were going to die.”

Traffic on the airport expressway was sparse at that hour.

The driver flagged down another vehicle.

“It’s a couple traveling the same way. I’ve already paid them. I’m really sorry.”

Xu Suxin hesitated.

She looked into the car.

At that moment, another boarding reminder vibrated on her phone.

The driver, still on the phone handling the accident, frowned slightly at her hesitation.

Finally, she lowered her head and stepped into the back seat.

“Thank you.”

The door closed behind her.

A low voice answered from somewhere inside the darkness.

“Mm.”

The moment she heard the reply, Xu Suxin stiffened.

There was someone else sitting in the back.

Still dizzy from the accident, she narrowed her eyes and quietly opened the navigation app.

The route showed that the car was indeed heading toward the airport.

Just then, another message appeared on her phone.

Qian Shanyue had written:

【The odds on Crimson Lightning were incredibly high. You should ask the manager how much they made from the race.】

Xu Suxin replied with a simple:

【Okay.】

The car drove past Terminal 3 and continued directly toward Terminal 2.

As soon as it came to a stop, Xu Suxin immediately pushed open the door and stepped out.

At the same time, the woman in the front passenger seat got out and opened the trunk.

Inside was nothing more than an ordinary suitcase.

Using that brief opportunity, Xu Suxin discreetly glanced toward the rear of the vehicle.

The privacy glass concealed everything inside.

She could see nothing.

Not wanting to linger, she turned and walked away.

Behind her, the driver respectfully opened the rear door.

“President Lu, we’ve arrived.”

By then, Xu Suxin had already disappeared into the crowd.

She hurried through the first checkpoint after scanning her code and immediately called Chen Jiumeng.

Only a busy signal answered.

No one picked up.

That was unusual.

Suppressing her doubts, she continued forward while dialing again as she descended the escalator.

A message finally appeared.

【Why didn’t you answer?】

Chen Jiumeng replied:

【Just checked into the hotel. I finished showering.】

A video call request popped up immediately afterward.

Xu Suxin declined it without hesitation.

She had no interest in seeing Chen Jiumeng’s deliberately seductive post-shower appearance.

Another message arrived.

【Board the plane first. I’ll stay near the airport.】

A photo followed.

【Eleven hours. Get some sleep on the flight, and we’ll see each other soon.】

Xu Suxin typed the single character “Lu,” then deleted it.

For some reason, she could not shake the feeling that someone had been watching her the entire journey.

The thought sent a chill down her spine.

She looked back more than once.

The terminal was crowded with travelers coming and going.

Nothing seemed unusual.

Soon, the boarding announcement sounded.

Checking her ticket, she made her way down the jet bridge.

As she stepped into the cabin, cool air rushed toward her, making her shiver slightly.

A flight attendant greeted her with a professional smile and handed over the menu.

“Miss, there are still thirty minutes before departure. Once the aircraft reaches cruising altitude, I’ll help recline your seat. Would you like me to fasten your seatbelt for you?”
