- The Mad Heiress Played Innocent, and the Third Master Fell Hard
- Chapter 1 - Yu Guiwan, why are you still alive?
The girl, wearing a loose white dress and barefoot, slowly walked into the bathroom.
She mechanically walked to the bathtub and slowly and weakly turned on the faucet.
The sound of pattering water could be heard.
Cold water splashed all around the bathtub.
The girl seemed oblivious as she stepped into the bathtub and then sat down listlessly.
In no time, the pristine white skirt was completely soaked by the cold water.
She lowered her eyes, her palm facing upwards, holding a thin blade about the size of a finger.
The summer sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, filling the entire bathroom with sunlight.
But the girl felt no warmth at all, only coldness.
It chilled to the very depths of one’s soul, a chill that seeped into one’s very bones.
Her skin was porcelain white, and the fine hairs on her face were clearly visible in the sunlight. Her stunning beauty seemed to have lost its soul under her indifferent gaze, leaving only an ethereal emptiness.
It sounded like a suffocating noise in my ears.
“Hungry? You’d be better off starving to death. Get out of here, I don’t want to see you.”
“Eat, eat, eat! Who gave you permission to eat your sister’s food? Do you want to die? Huh?”
The little girl was terrified and helpless as her neck was being choked, tears of grievance streaming down her face.
The scene shifts, and the little girl is pulled out of the pool, soaking wet, looking as if she’s been so frightened she’s lost her mind and can’t react.
“Tell me! Did you fall because you were playing? Why are you so disobedient? Why?!”
“Speak! Yu Guiwan, why are you crying?”
“…”
Why don’t you just die?
“Yu Guiwan, why are you still alive?”
Why aren’t you dead yet?
The voice kept repeating in my ears.
The girl closed her eyes; the cold water had risen to her waist, and the icy chill was gradually engulfing her.
The gleaming blade sliced across my wrist again and again.
A glaring red stain fell into the porcelain-white bathtub.
It slowly turned red.
The water level is gradually rising.
The girl looked at the warm light coming in through the window, and slowly raised her left hand as if trying to grasp something, but she could grasp nothing and hold onto nothing.
The red fabric slid down her arm, a shocking sight.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly, her lips curved into a slow smile, and then she closed her eyes little by little, her hands falling limply to her sides.
The sound of water continued.
A drizzling, deafening sound carrying a sense of despair.
…
“Young Master, we have finally found the person you are looking for. The information shows that she is Yu Guiwan, the eldest daughter of the Yu family, and also… your betrothed wife whom you have never met.”
The man gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles prominent and veins bulging, as he slowly pressed down on the accelerator.
He stared nervously at the road ahead.
Wanwan, I’ve finally found you.
Wait for me, Wanwan.
Late night…
The screeching sound of brakes echoed outside the villa.
It moved so fast that it kicked up a cloud of dust.
As soon as the car came to a stop, the man abruptly pushed open the car door and got out. His steps were a little unsteady, but his expression was one of tension and anticipation.
He opened the villa’s gate.
The luxuriously decorated villa was eerily deserted, as if devoid of any human presence.
The man was stunned for a moment, and a sudden, sharp pain welled up in his heart.
He clenched his fist and began searching for people in the villa.
There isn’t one downstairs.
There are no bedrooms on the second floor either.
Just as he was about to leave.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom.
The man suddenly stopped, turned around, and slowly walked towards the bathroom.
I had only walked a few steps when I saw that the bathroom door was wide open and the floor was covered in water.
The room was eerily quiet.
Apart from the sound of water in the bathroom.
All that remained was the strong, pounding sound of his heartbeat.
The pain in my heart gradually began to spread to my limbs.
pain……
Why does it hurt so much?
The man frowned and slowly walked into the bathroom.
The expensive leather shoes got completely soaked when they stepped on the ground.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks.
The water on the floor appeared to have a faint red tinge.
A chilling coldness mingled with a piercing fear.
His pupils contracted slightly, his fingertips trembled, and he murmured, “Wanwan…”
The next second, he strode in and was immediately struck by what he saw inside.
“Wanwan—”
The usually aloof man completely lost his composure at this moment, staggering towards the bathtub and scooping up the girl who was being submerged in the tub with trembling hands.
The two fell to the floor.
The man held the slender girl tightly in his arms, her pale face devoid of color and utterly cold.
He was completely stunned.
His gaze moved slowly.
The mottled, glaring scars on his porcelain-white wrists almost suffocated him.
The man’s hands trembled as he tried to cover her wound, but the gushing blood just wouldn’t stop.
“No…no, no, Wanwan, please…”
Hot tears slid down the man’s sharply defined face, dripping onto the girl’s hand, but they couldn’t warm her at all.
“puff–“
A mouthful of fishy-sweet taste gushed from the man’s mouth.
The blood stained the girl’s skirt.
Bloodstained and torn apart.
The wailing siren of an ambulance approached.
Swift and brief, cold and sharp.
It brought endless loneliness and coldness to this summer.
“I’m sorry, Third Brother, Third Sister-in-law… died from excessive blood loss despite all efforts to save her.”
“Bang–“
“Third Brother! Quick, bring the hospital bed over, get the emergency room ready.”
“…”
Late night, late night…
The man lying on the bed was trapped in a nightmare, constantly murmuring this name.
Suddenly, he opened his sharp, scarlet eyes.
I paused for a moment when I saw the familiar ceiling.
The familiar yet unfamiliar date on his phone filled him with a sense of disorientation and the joy of finding something he had lost.
…
“I can agree to the marriage between the Jiang family and the Yu family, but my wife must and can only be Yu Guiwan, the eldest daughter of the Yu family.”
“Ah Huai, what did you say?”
Grandpa Jiang stared at the man before him in disbelief.
Jiang Yuhuai’s eyes were indifferent. “I will only marry Yu Guiwan.”
Are you sure?
“Sure.”
“good.”
Jiang Yuhuai looked up at Old Master Jiang, paused for half a second, and said, “Thank you.”
As he watched the old man turn and leave, Grandpa Jiang silently tightened his grip on his cane.
His son had never bowed his head to ask him for anything, nor had he ever said thank you.
But for her sake… he did it all.
…
“Mom, what are you saying? You want that country bumpkin from the small county to marry into the Jiang family? On what grounds?”
A shrill female voice rang out in the living room.
“It’s a request from the Jiang family…”
Yu Yunshu retorted decisively, “How could that be? Third Master Jiang has never even seen that country bumpkin, so why would he make such a request?”
Cheng Xiang remained silent for a few seconds.
A girl sat on the sofa, completely out of place with the luxuriously decorated villa.
Her expression was calm, and she seemed completely uninterested in what they were saying.
Yu Mingsheng, who was also sitting on the sofa, frowned. “Xiaoyun’s words don’t make any sense either.”
Originally, they were able to marry into the Jiang family because of the relationship between Old Master Yu and the Jiang family; otherwise, how could they have gotten the chance?
How could the legendary Third Master Jiang possibly know about their daughter who had been abandoned in a small county town for over a decade and had only recently been brought back?
Yu Yunshu glanced at the silent Yu Guiwan, her eyes darkening. “Moreover, the Jiang family is referring to the eldest daughter of the Yu family.”
Since Yu Guiwan was sent away, Yu Yunshu has been the eldest daughter of the Yu family.
Yu Guiwan was so sleepy she was almost falling asleep.
Her face appeared innocent and harmless, and her beautiful eyes were misty, much like a bewildered fawn that had run out of the forest.
If you are not careful, you will be at the mercy of others.
Cheng Xiang frowned, looking at her daughter who had grown up beside her, “But, Third Master Jiang’s temper…”
How could she bear to let her daughter, whom she had carefully raised, suffer after marrying into that family?
Upon hearing this, Yu Yunshu’s expression darkened slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.
Yes, she almost forgot just how terrifying that Third Master Jiang really was because of her jealousy.
No matter how high his status may be, whether one can survive by his side is another matter entirely.
Yu Yunshu twitched the corners of her mouth and looked at the girl who had been silent and out of place. “Since the Jiang family’s marriage partner is the eldest daughter of the Yu family, of course I can’t take my sister’s place.”
Yu Guiwan glanced at her, yawned lazily, and didn’t say a word.
Yu Yunshu’s expression stiffened slightly, and a hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.
Yu Mingsheng glanced at his somewhat unfamiliar daughter not far away, frowned, and then said, “In that case, Xiao Wan, get ready. The Jiang family will send someone to pick you up in a couple of days.”
Upon hearing this, Yu Yunshu’s eyes flashed with a hint of sarcasm, and she didn’t take it seriously.
It was just a marriage alliance.
At most, the Jiang family would just send a few people over to pick them up.
Cheng Xiang said indifferently, “Once you marry into the Jiang family, you must try your best to please Third Master Jiang.”
Yu Guiwan then turned her gaze to them.
Yu Mingsheng and his group didn’t have much patience either.
He didn’t seem to care whether his daughter lived or died.
They just used her as a tool to exchange for benefits.
After giving his instructions, he left.
After everyone left, Yu Guiwan slowly got up and even stretched.
Her porcelain-white skin was revealed.
My phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket.
She took it out and glanced at it.
“Have you finished your medicine? Remember to go get it.”
The other party seemed to know Yu Guiwan very well.
The words were concise, yet subtly revealed a hint of impatience and a child’s protest against not getting their favorite toy.
Yu Guiwan raised an eyebrow slightly, did not reply, and simply put her phone back in her pocket.
Yu Yunshu, wearing high heels, walked up to her with an arrogant air.
A flicker of jealousy flashed in his eyes when he saw her exquisite face.
Yu Yunshu crossed her arms and spoke directly, “Yu Guiwan.”
Yu Guiwan’s eyelashes trembled slightly as she opened her eyes, looking somewhat sleepy.
When Yu Yunshu saw her like this, a hint of disdain flashed in her eyes.
“It seems you’re not used to this kind of life either.”
Even though we’ve brought him back for several days, he still looks like a country bumpkin.
A country bumpkin is a country bumpkin.
Even if he’s covered in gold, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s still a country bumpkin.
Yu Guiwan yawned lazily. “So?”
“But it’s alright, I believe the Jiang family will definitely have someone to teach you properly.”
Yu Yunshu raised her chin, a hint of schadenfreude flashing in her eyes.
“I don’t think you know anything about the Jiang family. How could a country bumpkin like you, who grew up in a small county town, be qualified to become the third young mistress of the Jiang family?”
His words were clearly a veiled insult to Yu Guiwan.
This also reveals just how much jealousy and resentment she harbors.
Even though she was terrified of Jiang Sanye, whom she had never met, it did not change how desirable his status and position were.
Upon hearing this, Yu Guiwan looked up at her.
For some reason, Yu Yunshu saw a faint hint of mockery in her eyes.
She was stunned for a moment, but when she came to her senses, it seemed to be just her imagination.
Yu Guiwan’s eyes were as clear and pure as crystal, and her voice was soft, “Then do you have the qualifications?”
Yu Yunshu’s expression froze, as if she couldn’t believe she would ask that question.
Yu Guiwan tilted her head and said, “However, the Jiang family seems to say that only Miss Yu is qualified. Sister, are you?”
This statement, though seemingly casual, carries a hint of undeniable hurt.
Each word was like a bullet, hitting the bullseye every time.
Yu Yunshu’s face suddenly darkened. “Yu Guiwan, what did you say?”
What she hates most is when people say she’s not the eldest daughter of the Yu family.
“You country bumpkin, how dare you talk to me like that?”
She strode over in her high heels and raised her hand to slap her face.
The hand hadn’t even landed yet.
Yu Guiwan casually raised her hand and gently grasped her wrist.
Her wrists were so slender, they looked like they could break with the slightest bend.
Yu Yunshu felt a pain as if her bones were being crushed.
Her pupils contracted slightly. “Yu Guiwan, you… ah—”
He didn’t finish saying what he wanted her to say about letting go.
Suddenly, she seemed to lose control and fell forward.
“Bang—”
