Later, Ariel discovered that Brienne wasn’t really capable of doing anything, let alone sweeping the floor:
Brienne was asked to clean the windows, but she didn’t know that the rag should be wrung out more, and the windows were covered in watermarks.

When Brienne was asked to cut the radish, she made uneven cuts, resulting in radish pieces that were not only too large but also significantly different in size.

When Brienne was asked to carry the plates, her hands trembled so badly that she nearly spilled all the food on Mila.

Mira pouted and scrubbed her faded witch’s outfit with great effort. Although not all the food spilled, curry sauce still splattered onto the outfit, leaving a few brown spots.

Mila?

Ariel stood quietly behind Mira and called to her in a soothing tone.

“Hmph… Ariel, is this an automaton? Why is it so stupid! I’ve heard that automatons are very intelligent!”

“Well…”

Ariel had no choice but to hastily revise her story and come up with a temporary excuse to get by:

“Sigh, it’s all because I don’t have money. If I had money, I would buy a magical doll. I’ve heard that ‘Masterpiece’ level magical dolls possess intelligence similar to humans.”

“I don’t have any money, so I can only buy an automaton that’s even lower-grade than a magical doll… I really regret it. If I had known it would get Mira’s clothes dirty and I couldn’t get a refund, I wouldn’t have bought it!”

Ariel leaned closer to Mira’s witch outfit and carefully examined the stains:

“Autumn break doesn’t end until the day after tomorrow. I’ll wash them myself later so I can wear them to the classroom clean when school starts the day after tomorrow, okay?”

Mira blinked, her anger subsiding considerably.

“Well, since Alyssa has said so, then it’s fine.”

“But…”

Mira stood up and pointed at Brienne again:

“We must train this maid properly; we can’t let Alysville have wasted this money!”

Brienne stood behind her master, Ariel, facing Mira. Her head was tilted, and her eyes remained as empty as ever.

Ariel suddenly felt somewhat powerless:

“Never mind, let’s have dinner. I finally managed to make this curry…”

Three servings of curry were already laid out on the table.

Upon seeing the delicious food prepared by Ariel, Mira immediately jumped onto the chair, her earlier displeasure completely vanished.

“I won’t stand on ceremony!”

Ariel turned to look at Brienne’s face, about to say, “You should eat too,” but a sudden feeling of disgust interrupted her, leaving the words stuck in her throat.

This is equivalent to saying to Brian, “Lord Brian, dinner is ready.”

Before the incident of him leaving the team, this would still be a heartwarming daily routine in the Hero Squad.

Back then, I didn’t have to cook every day; Vera and Salina both had their own specialties.

What about now?

Although Brienne had changed in both body and face, she knew that she was still Brian.

The thought that she was plotting to kick him out of the team and had instigated Shalina to curse him, causing him to suffer so much humiliation, made it hard not to feel the urge to punch Brienne right now.

In any case, within the emotional confinement set up by Eve, Brienne will always see herself as the master, and as the master, no one can say anything if she hits her own maid.

Ariel had already raised her fist, her fingertips turning white from the force, ready to swell up half of Brienne’s face at any moment if she wanted to.

He had not yet sought revenge against Brian directly.

But can I really throw that punch…?

Looking at Brienne’s delicate face and her empty eyes, he couldn’t help but think, “I can’t hit her!”

That’s right, she’s Brienne now, but her identity as Brian will still be revealed later.

Her ultimate goal was to “turn the long-lost hero into a maid for a former team member who was now considered a waste.”

She still retains her basic personality as Brian. Although he really wants to hit her, he has to hold back until she is completely devoted to him.

Ariel sat quietly in her seat, eating her curry little by little with a spoon.

Brienne paused, and after a long period of thought, she sat down in the seat reserved for her, staring blankly at the curry on her plate.

Mira had quickly finished her food and wanted to get up to continue studying page 2 of “Basic Magic Runes,” but seeing Brienne’s hesitant look, she urged her:

“Hurry up and eat! Even automatons need to eat to maintain their artificial skin and muscles!”

Brienne’s long eyelashes fluttered as she glanced at Ariel, but Ariel didn’t look at her.

In the end, Brienne still didn’t eat the curry.

“I’m off to training!”

Mira saw that it was time, so she put on her coat, grabbed her magic broom, waved to Ariel, and left the dormitory.

Ariel was washing dishes in the kitchen. The water kept washing away the curry stains, but there were always stubborn stains on the white plates that she couldn’t get rid of.

In the distance, one can still see Brienne sitting blankly at the dining table, seemingly lost in thought.

She’s definitely not capable of being trained into a proper maid in her current state.

However, if her personality is revealed, then once Brian’s consciousness awakens, she will be even less likely to obediently listen to him.

What should we do…?

Just as Ariel was worrying, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

Brienne remained motionless, showing no intention of opening the door.

Ariel had no choice but to put down the plate and use magic to dry her wet hands.

Ariel was quite surprised when she opened the door.

Because the person who came was Lise, but not quite the same—a hint of anticipation could be seen in her eyes.

Then, Lise touched her light blue hair, tilted her head slightly, and spoke in a weak tone, tinged with coldness:

“May I come in?”

“Oh, of course!”

Ariel stepped aside to make room for Lise. Lise glanced around the dormitory, then took off her witch’s hat and casually hung it in the dressing room by the door.

Why did Lise suddenly come? Isn’t she usually observing from a distance?

wrong!

Lise can actually speak a complete sentence now!

Ariel then realized the biggest difference between Lise and her usual self today.

Although at first glance Lise seemed the same as usual, a hint of emotion could be sensed in her eyes, demeanor, and words.

Lise looked Brienne up and down and shook her head:

“The Demon King’s seal is unsuitable. Too much emotion has been stripped away, and too many instincts have been lost.”

“ah?”

Ariel stood frozen in place, feeling as if a cacophony of noises were exploding in her ears at once, as if her body had been broken by someone else.

Lise actually knows about the Demon King too…

That makes sense; if she had stayed with him, she would have seen everything.

Lise turned around, her breath hitting Ariel’s face, making Ariel feel a burning heat from Lise:

“I know everything, but I won’t tell anyone. I’ll keep it a secret.”

“I know the family’s emotional stripping technique, which allows the hero to regain some of his instincts, just like I used to.”

“My emotional detachment is stronger than the Demon King’s, so listen to me.”
