- The Hero Kicked Me Out of His Party, So I Turned Him into My Maid
- Chapter 13 - Karina's Request
She clenched her teeth so hard that her gums bled, and then she tore off a piece of velvet and put it in her mouth.
Mira says she’s going out for special magic training every night, but actually it’s because she doesn’t want others to see how much pain she’s in.
This is a “curse” unique to her, and also a pain unique to her.
Ariel is a kind, motherly person, and Mira doesn’t want Ariel to worry about her because of this.
Because Ariel also faces her own difficulties.
After an unknown amount of time, the excruciating pain throughout my body finally subsided again.
Mira didn’t move, but looked out at the night sky through the only window in the darkness.
The night sky is clear tonight, and the stars are clearly visible.
In the night sky, Mira saw a familiar figure sitting sideways on a magic broom as it swept past.
She reached out and grabbed at the direction the figure had left.
Finally, Mira smiled.
Even though it’s like this every night, I can still grit my teeth and endure it whenever I think of the warm moments during the day.
But will this excruciating pain accompany me for the rest of my life?

The next day, Mila groggily got out of bed, rubbing her sleepy eyes. The familiar aroma whetted her appetite.
Ariel sat at the table and pointed to today’s breakfast:
“Today’s meal is pan-fried bacon and a sunny-side-up egg.”
“Yay! I don’t think I heard the bells from the academy clock tower today.”
Mila hopped onto the seat, settled down comfortably, picked up her knife and fork, and began to enjoy her meal.
Ariel ate her bacon while looking at Mira:
“Come to think of it, there really isn’t one; perhaps the clock is broken.”
The morning sunlight streamed through the window and fell on Mila’s face.
Mila’s eating manners weren’t exactly graceful; she was just a child who wasn’t picky about food and was wolfing it down.
My hair is still a mess.
“Wait.”
Ariel stood up, straddling the entire dining table, and pinched a thin, strange thing from Mira’s hair.
Sunlight shone on Ariel’s entire body, and the shadows of her two white sugar cakes covered a large area of the dining table.
Ariel held the object up to her face:
“Thatch?”
When Mira saw the thatch, a barely perceptible flicker of panic crossed her face:
“Ah, maybe it got on me yesterday when I was repairing the magic broom.”
“Oh, I see.”
A little bit of magic flowed from Ariel’s fingertips, burning the thatch to ashes.
Mila then lowered her head and continued eating.
Um?
Ariel glanced at Mira before lowering her head to eat her breakfast.
But, did I see it wrong?
My gaze fell again on the back of Mila’s neck.
There, a very obvious mark ran almost through the entire neck, and the mark was clearly blood red.
Mila’s messy hair usually hides her face, making her hard to spot. But this time, she could see it clearly.
Could this be an injury Mira sustained during practice?
She has her secrets, and I have mine. It’s best not to pry too much into it.
After all, if Mira wanted to know, she would have told me already.
After breakfast, Ariel opened the door as usual and took the contents of the mailbox.
There’s still only one copy of “The Witch’s Daily” today.
Opening the Witch Daily, today’s headline isn’t about heroes, but rather the usual campus news:
“The college clock tower went on strike last night! An investigation revealed that the hour and minute hands were engaged in a heated debate about ‘which one is working harder’.”
?
After careful reading, it was found that the college clock tower was temporarily unavailable. This was because the minute hand was arguing with the hour hand, questioning why the hour hand only needed to move twice a day while it moved once a minute.
The academy’s clock tower was built by the first headmistress of the Witch Academy, and the hour and minute hands are her two familiars. They seem to have had conflicts before, but not as intensely as this time, resulting in a strike.
This is just news to pass the time; it’s completely meaningless.
Or rather, this is the norm for daily newspaper news.
The news about the Hero Squad was placed in a small corner on the front page. They will officially enter the 325th floor of the dungeon tomorrow.
Alyssa muttered:
“Hmph, Brian, it’s a good thing you’re busy conquering the dungeon right now, otherwise I would have fed you the potion today!”
“Just wait, Brian. When you come back, I will prepare a grand feast for you.”

Meanwhile, in the Dean’s office, not far from Ariel’s dormitory.
Karina, dressed like an aristocrat, sat on the white sofa in the dean’s office where guests were received.
She was wearing a dark blue high-waisted silk dress, and with her legs crossed, you could vaguely see white stockings through her purple high heels.
She raised her head, lifted her hand, the pearl necklace on her wrist dangling, and pointed at the headmaster, saying:
“Headmaster, I am here today on behalf of the Tafflin family and its patriarch to negotiate with the academy. Our demand is the immediate expulsion of Arielle!”
The dean was a lean old man with a hunched back, leaning on a not-so-fine cane. If you ignored the badge on his chest, he would look like any ordinary old man you could see on the street.
Unfortunately, I can’t get rid of that badge.
Because that badge was reserved for the highest-ranking court mage of the Kingdom of Veselin.
The Royal Archmage is one of the most powerful magicians in each kingdom, certified by the royal family.
Therefore, the Grand Master of the Palace held a very high position in the kingdom. Even some nobles would bow respectfully to him.
However, the Tafflin family is the most powerful family in the kingdom, second only to the royal family. Furthermore, the patriarch of the Tafflin family, Karina’s grandfather, was also a court archmage.
Therefore, Karina didn’t take the headmaster seriously either.
Even a high-ranking court mage like you can’t fight the demons alongside the hero, even though you’re a member of the hero’s team!
The headmaster’s expression remained unchanged, as if Karina’s words had simply blown away from his ear like the wind:
“Miss Karina. Arielle has not violated any school rules, and the school has no right to expel her.”
“Why isn’t there a reason?”
Karina pointed her finger upwards:
“Our family contributes up to 50% of the funds to the academy every year, devoting ourselves to its operation and cultivating so many talents for the kingdom.”
“Family funds can only be used to cultivate talent, not to cultivate useless people!”
“Ariel has been expelled from the Hero Squad. It’s because she’s useless. The family doesn’t want to raise useless people, so expelling her is perfectly reasonable.”
After listening to Karina finish speaking, the headmaster stared at Karina’s face and slowly said:
“Young lady, the academy’s funds consist of 50% from your family and 30% from the royal family.”
“As the head of the academy, I am only responsible to His Majesty the King and to cultivating talent for the kingdom.”
“But she’s not a genius!”
Karina seized on this point again.
The headmaster remained completely unaffected by Karina’s emotions and continued:
Our argument revolved solely around whether Ariel Lin was a genius.
“So, if Ariel doesn’t rank in the top three of her grade in the final exams this semester, the academy will expel her. Will the Tafflin family be satisfied with that?”
After thinking for a moment, Karina nodded in agreement with the headmaster.
She was, after all, just a fox borrowing the tiger’s power, relying on her grandfather’s and the family’s influence.
If they insist on expelling Ariel directly, the headmaster will protect Ariel to the death, and there’s nothing he can do.
After all, the academy headmaster is indeed a royal court mage, and he is backed by the royal family.
It’s better to just agree when he takes the initiative to compromise. After all, a good-for-nothing can’t possibly go from second-to-last in the grade to first-to-third in just one semester.
Ariel, Ariel, you can only stay in the academy for now. You’ll still be expelled in the future. Just wait and see!
