- Chapter 28 - The Foot That Likes to Bit
Shi Li released his hand, looking up at Lin Zedong with eyes full of gratitude.
Shi Li kept glancing at the doorway out of the corner of his eye. Just as the person was about to approach, he rolled to the side with all his might.
Lin Zedong failed on his first attempt.
His face was full of hostility.
Shi Li lay prone on the ground, his head severely injured, unable to stand up. He could only try to raise his hand to block the rope coming at him, and then, seizing the opportunity, bit down as Lin Zedong approached.
Lin Zedong, who was in pain, never expected that Shi Li would actually bite his foot!
A sharp pain shot through his toes, and he could only quickly take off his socks, his hands, wrapped in plastic wrap, making them difficult to maneuver.
He didn’t expect Shi Li to bite so hard. When he kicked the other man, his toes were pulled out, causing a burning pain and blood to flow from his toes.
In a fit of anger, Lin Zedong stuffed the socks he had taken off directly into Shi Li’s mouth.
“Don’t you like biting people’s feet? How about trying your socks, hmm?”
He stuffed Shi Li’s mouth with socks again and again, but the socks weren’t big enough to stop Shi Li’s mouth.
Lin Zedong quickly wrapped the rope around Shi Li’s neck. “Since someone wants to kill you, I’ll help him out. Without you, the Lin Group will have no stain on its reputation.”
In his rage, Lin Zedong tightened his grip, and Shi Li rolled her eyes and fainted instantly.
Seeing that the person was unresponsive, Lin Zedong quickly tied him up. Only a small amount of blood was left on the ground. He glanced at his toes. Fortunately, the temperature was low due to the cold weather, and the bloodstains on the back of his foot quickly congealed in just a few minutes.
The blood from the wound on the back of Shi Li’s head had already congealed.
Lin Zedong reached out to check Shi Li’s breath, but his hand, wrapped in plastic wrap, couldn’t feel whether the other person was still breathing.
To be on the safe side, he planned to hang the person. As long as he left no trace, the police would never suspect him.
So he first tied up Shi Li’s limbs. The dining chair was too far away, and dragging the chair at this late hour would definitely make noise.
Just after he finished tying up Shi Li, he heard footsteps coming from the doorway.
Lin Zedong paused for a moment, then quickly went to the entrance and turned off the lights inside the house.
Immediately following was the sound of a door opening next door.
Sang Ning is back.
Lin Zedong nervously swallowed, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the door close.
He stood in the dark for a full half hour without moving, making sure there was no sound from next door before turning the light back on.
Next, I began to carefully wipe every part of the room.
After everything was over, seeing that Shi Li on the ground still didn’t react, Lin Zedong quickly took away everything in the room that he might have touched.
When I arrived on the third floor, there happened to be an open door. I cautiously peeked inside, but there was no one there.
Only then did he muster the courage to put all his belongings into the room.
He went up and down twice in total, during which time the sound he made was extremely faint.
As dawn broke and they returned to room 204, they found that Shi Li was still alive and began to struggle.
He almost crawled to the doorway.
Lin Zedong glanced at the fan above, took the longer end of the rope in one hand and put it around Lin Zedong’s neck, connecting the other end.
After hanging Shi Li on the fan and removing the sock stuffed in his mouth, he left room 204 without looking back.
And so, Lin Zedong left before anyone at Ping An Apartment woke up.
To avoid being caught on camera at the intersection, he specifically asked the taxi driver to drive into Ping An Apartment, because there were no cameras there.
Lin Zedong was still dressed the same as he had been in the early morning, wearing a mask as he got into the car.
Just as the taxi drove out of the apartment, another taxi drove in, which made Lin Zedong feel even more at ease.
·
With the case solved, the entire criminal investigation team enjoyed a short break.
“I never expected this, Sister Ning. Lin Zedong killed someone for this reason, ruining his promising future and letting his good-for-nothing brother benefit. It’s a huge loss.”
While organizing the files, Gu Yao read Lin Zedong’s account of the crime and sighed.
However, Sang Ning always felt that there was something strange between Lin Zedong and his female secretary, Lin Shuyue.
Just as she was lost in thought, Gu Yao said, “Sister Ning, now that the case is closed, do you still want to get back together with that Lin Zehui? I heard that Lin Zehui waited for you all night outside the police station that night, and even after you left, he didn’t want to leave. He was only driven away when the guards changed shifts in the morning. Isn’t he too devoted?”
She had no idea that Sang Ning was now her sister-in-law, and yet she was advising her sister-in-law to get back together with her ex. That’s just unbelievable.
Gu Yezhou, standing at the door of the forensic room, was even more speechless.
He was about to knock on the door when Sang Ning opened it and came out. “Captain Gu? You’re off work? What brings you to the forensic lab?”
Sang Ning thought she had misread the time. She looked back at the clock and saw that it was already five o’clock. It was indeed time to get off work.
Gu Yezhou coughed lightly and asked, “Want to go out for a meal together?”
“Huh? Did I hear that right? You’re asking Sister Ning out to dinner?” Gu Yao’s eyes widened. “Brother, you’ve never asked any girls out to dinner before.”
“Brother?” Sang Ning looked at Gu Yao and Gu Yezhou in surprise.
They both have the surname Gu, what a coincidence!
“Yes, Sister Ning, I told you before, my brother is a policeman, but he works in another place,” Gu Yao explained.
Sang Ning had no recollection of this at all.
“Would you like to join us for the victory celebration?” Gu Yezhou corrected.
Sang Ning waved her hand, wanting to refuse, but then heard Xiao Zhang say, “Come on, the more the merrier! This is the first time our Yancheng police station has solved a case in less than 72 hours, we must celebrate.”
However, before that, there were very few such heinous cases in Yancheng, and it also involved the Lin Group.
Half-heartedly, a group of people went to a restaurant after get off work.
Everyone was in a good mood, so they had a few drinks.
Just as Sang Ning was about to go back, Gu Yezhou grabbed her arm, his voice cold and deep: “Where are you going?”
The slightly questioning tone made Sang Ning feel uncomfortable.
She shook off Gu Yezhou’s hand, only to find that the man was incredibly strong, especially in front of so many colleagues.
Fortunately, everyone was too drunk to pay attention to them.
“You’ve had too much to drink, let go!” Sang Ning whispered.
Gu Yezhou shifted his position slightly, getting closer to Sang Ning, his slightly tipsy breath brushing against her cheek.
Sang Ning turned her face away. “Captain Gu, I want to go back first.”
“Where does my wife want to go?”
Whether Gu Yezhou was truly drunk or faking it, he looked like a pitiful abandoned child. His sharp eyes softened considerably, and he even seemed a little aggrieved.
“Wife?” Gu Yao, who was also drunk, laughed and changed the subject, “Brother, where did you get a wife? If you want one, I’ll introduce you to one.”
She staggered over to Sang Ning, patted him on the shoulder, and didn’t even notice that they were holding hands.
“Brother, look at Sister Ning, what do you think? She’s the most beautiful policewoman in our Yancheng Police Station.”
Gu Yezhou completely ignored Gu Yao and dragged Sang Ning outside.
