When Alice first laid eyes on the enormous mansion before her, she was completely stunned.

After the hero’s victory in the great battle against the demons, the demon race had vanished without a trace. Alice had always assumed they had retreated to some distant corner of the world.

She never imagined they would be bold enough to establish their hideout so close to the headquarters of the Church of Assis.

Weren’t they afraid of being discovered?

But after taking a closer look, Alice realized the demons had chosen this location quite cleverly.

The area was surrounded by dense vegetation, making the mansion almost impossible to find unless you already knew where it was. Lucifer had spent nearly two hours leading Alice through the forest before they finally arrived.

Their decision to settle here was probably deliberate. From this location, they could easily observe the movements of humans and gather information without exposing themselves.

In the past, Alice would probably have attacked the demon stronghold without hesitation, determined to eliminate any future threat.

But things had changed.

She no longer cared about serving those who had once manipulated her.

So, although Alice was surprised by what she saw, she didn’t dwell on it.

“Wait here.”

Lucifer’s voice interrupted her thoughts.

Alice nodded silently as she watched him walk toward the mansion.

The closer she got to seeing Chiba again, the more complicated her feelings became.

She had already decided to make peace with Chiba, but she couldn’t help feeling nervous. After all, she had hurt Chiba before. What if Chiba refused to forgive her?

Alice knew that would hurt.

So, before entering, she had already begun planning what she would do if things went wrong.

However, while she was lost in thought, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.

“You’re lucky. They haven’t returned yet. Come with me.”

Alice snapped back to reality and looked at Lucifer in surprise.

He had only been gone for about five minutes.

That was much faster than she expected.

Then again, perhaps Lucifer had simply gone ahead to gather information.

Come to think of it, that made sense.

Alice couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

She was still the hero of the human world. If they had simply walked into the mansion without making preparations, both she and Lucifer could have ended up in serious trouble.

To be safe, Lucifer instructed Alice to put on the coat he had removed.

“Uh… I can’t see anything.”

The coat was far too large for Alice. It practically covered her entire body, making it difficult for her to see where she was going.

“Just follow behind me. And don’t speak until we arrive.”

Lucifer ignored her complaint and continued walking toward the mansion.

Alice had no choice but to hurry after him.

Once they entered the mansion, Alice couldn’t resist peeking through the opening of the coat.

Everything around her was unfamiliar.

She had never seen buildings like these before, nor could she identify the materials they were constructed from. Their dark appearance gave the entire interior an eerie atmosphere.

Alice continued looking around curiously until Lucifer suddenly stopped.

“Whoa!”

Alice hadn’t expected him to stop and walked straight into his back.

She lost her balance and fell heavily onto the floor.

“Ouch…”

Rubbing her aching backside, Alice cautiously peeked out from beneath the coat to see what had happened.

Lucifer was standing in front of a door.

He gently knocked.

“Master, may I come in?”

There was no response.

Lucifer simply stood there and waited.

Alice found this rather strange.

Normally, if someone didn’t respond after you knocked, you’d knock again.

But Lucifer didn’t.

Didn’t he suspect that Chiba might not be inside?

Of course, Lucifer knew what Alice was thinking.

He was certain Chiba was still in the room.

After all, only Lucifer and Ander possessed the keys to Chiba’s room. Without their permission, Chiba had no way of leaving.

Her silence was probably because she was still angry about being confined by her father.

So Lucifer patiently waited.

Sure enough, after a while, an impatient voice finally came from inside.

“Come in.”

Alice couldn’t help feeling nervous.

Lucifer, however, seemed completely accustomed to this.

Ever since Chiba had arrived here, she had behaved this way.

Unfortunately, there was nothing Lucifer could do about it.

This was Ander’s decision, and even Lucifer had no authority to overturn it.

When Lucifer opened the door, Alice saw a petite girl dressed in black pajamas sitting inside.

The girl looked completely ordinary.

Yet she was actually Chiba—the sole successor to the nineteenth generation of the demon patriarch.

Chiba glanced at Lucifer and asked casually:

“What’s wrong?”

Lucifer immediately bowed respectfully.

“My Lord, Alice says she has something important to tell you, so I brought her here.”

Chiba’s expression changed slightly.

“Oh?”

Her curiosity was clearly piqued.

“Where is she?”

Lucifer turned around and glanced at Alice.

Although Alice was still nervous, she finally gathered her courage and stepped forward.

According to the plan they had discussed beforehand, Alice first looked at Lucifer and spoke politely.

“I’d like to speak with Chiba alone. Could you please leave us for a moment?”

Lucifer froze.

He hadn’t expected Alice to make such a request so quickly.

He glanced toward Chiba, apparently unsure how to respond.

Chiba lowered her head and thought for a moment.

She didn’t know why Alice had come here.

She also couldn’t understand what Alice could possibly want from her.

Yet, for some reason, Chiba had a strange feeling.

This time, Alice wasn’t here to cause trouble.

Instead…

She felt as though Alice had come here to help her.

After considering it for a moment, Chiba nodded.

“Lucifer, you can leave.”

“…Very well.”

Lucifer sighed helplessly before turning around.

“Call me if anything happens.”

With that, he walked out of the room.

But before leaving, he gave Alice one final warning glare.

His expression seemed to say:

If you dare hurt my master, you’ll regret it.
