Lucifer finally returned, carrying a petite girl who had fallen unconscious in his arms.

Of course, there was no need to misunderstand the situation. The girl hadn’t been drugged or kidnapped. In fact, Lucifer had rescued her himself only moments earlier.

He carefully placed the girl on his bed before sitting down beside her, quietly waiting for her to regain consciousness.

The girl he had rescued was none other than the heroine Alice.

That said, Lucifer didn’t have much affection for her. After all, Alice had always been their mortal enemy.

She was constantly causing trouble for his master, all because she believed her parents had been killed by demons. The truth was that even Lucifer found the whole situation rather ridiculous.

There had been several occasions when he wanted to teach her a lesson. But after thinking about it, he decided there was no point in fighting with a child, so he always held himself back.

Alice should be grateful to his master. If Chiba hadn’t insisted on saving her, she would probably be dead by now.

Still, Lucifer couldn’t understand his master’s actions.

Once might have been understandable.

But Chiba had saved Alice several times already.

Demons weren’t supposed to possess human emotions. That was a well-known taboo among their kind, and yet Chiba had clearly violated it.

Perhaps this was related to her mother.

Lucifer had heard that Chiba’s mother had been human.

That fact alone was extremely dangerous.

If the other demons discovered that Chiba wasn’t a pure-blooded demon, she might not necessarily be expelled from their race, but she would certainly lose her right to inherit the position of the nineteenth Demon Patriarch.

Worse still, she would likely face discrimination and contempt from the other demons for the rest of her life.

Fortunately, Chiba’s upbringing had allowed her to conceal these human emotions for a very long time.

But Lucifer couldn’t help wondering…

When exactly had his master begun to change?

Even he couldn’t answer that question.

After some time, Alice finally regained consciousness.

She slowly sat up and looked around the unfamiliar room, her expression filled with confusion.

“No need to look around. This is my room.”

Lucifer’s voice suddenly broke the silence.

Alice turned toward him and was visibly startled.

She hadn’t even noticed that Lucifer was sitting beside her.

Wait…

Why am I in Lucifer’s room?

Alice clearly remembered being taken to the execution ground. She had lost consciousness just before the execution began.

Logically, she should have been dead by now.

So why was she still alive?

Perhaps noticing the confusion on her face, Lucifer calmly explained:

“…You were about to be executed. I rescued you from the execution ground.”

His explanation was short, but it answered everything Alice wanted to know.

Alice lowered her head and fell silent.

After a long while, she finally whispered:

“Why… why did you save me?”

“I didn’t want to.”

Lucifer sighed.

“My master ordered me to do it.”

Alice immediately raised her head.

“Your master… You mean Chiba?”

Lucifer nodded.

“Mm.”

Then he fell silent again.

He clearly had no desire to speak with Alice any longer. Once her fever subsided, he intended to send her away immediately.

It wasn’t because he was completely heartless.

Rather, if the other demons discovered that he was keeping a human hero in his room, it would create unnecessary trouble.

Lucifer had no intention of taking that risk.

Alice understood this as well.

She would leave once she had recovered.

But before that, there was something she absolutely had to do.

Before Alice left the human world, Yuichi had specifically asked her to deliver a message to Chiba.

So she gathered her courage and asked:

“Where is Chiba? I have something I need to tell her.”

Lucifer immediately became suspicious.

Why did this girl suddenly want to see his master?

After what happened at the Autumn Festival, Lucifer had every reason to be cautious.

“No.”

He refused without hesitation.

“No matter what your intentions are, you can’t go there. That’s our base. If I bring a hero like you there, I can’t guarantee that something won’t happen.”

Alice didn’t argue.

Instead, she struggled to climb out of bed and then bowed deeply before Lucifer.

“Please.”

Her voice was sincere.

“This is really important to your master. If I don’t tell her, she might regret it for the rest of her life.”

Lucifer fell silent.

Alice’s expression didn’t look like she was lying.

If what she said was true, then perhaps he really did need to reconsider.

After all, Lucifer couldn’t allow his own carelessness to cause his master lifelong regret.

“Then tell me.”

Lucifer stared at her.

“Why is it so important?”

“I want to repay her kindness.”

Alice answered without hesitation.

Lucifer looked at her for a moment before finally speaking.

“Looks like you’re not completely stupid.”

Alice almost retorted.

But she immediately swallowed the words.

Not now.

She absolutely couldn’t ruin this opportunity.

“Fine.”

Lucifer finally nodded.

“I’ll take you there. But you have to promise me one thing.”

Alice looked at him seriously.

“You will follow my orders and you will not act on your own. If you disobey me…”

Lucifer’s eyes became cold.

“I’ll kill you.”

Alice’s eyes immediately lit up.

She had succeeded.

“Alright. I promise. I won’t do anything reckless.”

Her answer was more determined than ever.

Although Alice had exaggerated some parts of her explanation to convince Lucifer, there was one thing she had been completely honest about.

She genuinely wanted to repay Chiba.

After everything that had happened, Alice owed Chiba another life.

That debt weighed heavily on her heart.

And now…

This might be her only chance to see Chiba again.

Alice absolutely wasn’t going to let it slip away.
