The reason was simple: Ander had just made his position perfectly clear.

“Enough. Don’t even think about going back. You’re staying here.”

Chiba stared at him in disbelief.

This was the first time her father had ever spoken to her in such a commanding tone.

“So you’re ordering me around now?”

“And what if I am?” Ander replied coldly. “It’s nothing more than a world inhabited by lowly humans. What is so special about it that you’re so desperate to return?”

Chiba found his attitude both irritating and absurd, so she simply turned her head away and refused to answer.

She didn’t actually consider Yuichi her lover, but she certainly wasn’t going to explain herself to Ander.

“My dear daughter, I’ve always indulged you. But there is one thing I cannot compromise on. If you insist on being stubborn, then don’t blame me for what happens next.”

The moment she finished speaking, Chiba lunged forward and thrust her sword toward Ander.

But Ander had already anticipated the attack.
