After Work, I Brought Home a Devilish Beauty - Chapter 12
The next morning, Yuichi woke up feeling significantly better.
Perhaps it was because he had finally gotten enough rest.
Or perhaps it was because Chiba had spent the previous night taking care of him.
Either way, the dizziness was gone.
Stretching comfortably, Yuichi turned toward the bed.
“Good morning, Chiba!”
“Mmm…”
Still half-asleep, Chiba rubbed her eyes and lazily acknowledged him.
After a brief hesitation, Yuichi scratched his cheek.
“Um…”
“Thanks for yesterday.”
Chiba looked at him blankly.
Then, after thinking for a moment, she gave her answer.
“If you really want to thank me…”
“Buy me pudding.”
Yuichi immediately laughed.
“Deal.”
“But only if you come with me.”
“…Together?”
Chiba tilted her head.
There was no particular reason she needed to go.
Still…
Exploring the human world occasionally wasn’t a bad idea.
After a brief pause, she nodded.
“Fine.”
Yuichi’s smile immediately widened.
Since he had taken sick leave for the day, there was no need to go to work.
And that meant…
He had an entire day free.
Naturally, he had no intention of wasting such a precious opportunity.
Today, he would take Chiba around town.
In Yuichi’s mind, this was practically a date.
Unfortunately, Chiba had absolutely no idea what that meant.
Yuichi quickly changed clothes, washed his face, brushed his teeth, and finished preparing for the day.
“Alright, Chiba.”
“Let’s go.”
Just as he opened the apartment door—
A large shadow blocked the entrance.
The bright morning sunlight pouring in from outside made it difficult to see clearly at first.
Yuichi squinted.
Then his eyes widened.
“…Lucifer?”
Standing in the doorway was the silver-haired demon who had nearly punched him into the afterlife not long ago.
The Demon Grand Marshal himself.
Lucifer.
Yuichi couldn’t help feeling confused.
Wait a second.
How did he find my address?
He had never told Lucifer where he lived.
Ignoring Yuichi completely, Lucifer stepped inside.
The apartment instantly felt half its original size.
“Human dwellings are remarkably cramped.”
The casual comment nearly made Yuichi explode.
No!
It’s because you’re enormous!
When Chiba moved in, the room felt perfectly fine!
Before he could voice the complaint, a familiar voice came from the bedroom.
“Is that Lucifer?”
“What are you doing here?”
The moment he heard Chiba speak, Lucifer’s attitude transformed.
Straightening immediately, he lowered his head respectfully.
“My Lady.”
“I merely wished to check on your well-being.”
Hey!
I’m standing right here!
At least greet the owner of the apartment!
Yuichi’s internal complaints reached a new level.
Unfortunately, Lucifer lacked telepathy.
“Oh?”
Chiba looked mildly surprised.
“Anything else?”
“Actually, yes.”
Lucifer nodded.
“Thanks to your guidance, I have successfully secured a place to stay.”
Yuichi froze.
“…You found housing?”
That was unexpected.
Yesterday he’d been rejected by every real estate office they visited.
How had he suddenly solved the problem overnight?
Curiosity immediately took over.
“Where?”
Lucifer thought for a moment before casually pointing toward the window.
“Not far from here.”
Yuichi narrowed his eyes.
This is the city center.
Apartments aren’t exactly cheap.
Where did he get the money?
And more importantly… did he acquire this place legally?
A worrying number of possibilities crossed his mind.
Before he could investigate further, Chiba simply nodded.
“Congratulations.”
“Wait!”
Yuichi immediately interrupted.
There was no way he could let the subject end there.
“We’re checking this out.”
He crossed his arms.
“Take us there.”
Lucifer didn’t seem bothered by the request.
“As you wish.”
After a brief pause, he added,
“Although it can be somewhat noisy.”
Just then, Chiba emerged from the bedroom.
Her long black hair was still slightly damp, suggesting she had just finished washing it.
“It’s fine.”
“Yuichi and I were already planning to go downstairs and buy pudding.”
“If it’s on the way, we can visit your place together.”
Lucifer immediately nodded.
“As you command, my Lady.”
Thus, with a demon princess, a demon grand marshal, and one thoroughly confused office worker leading the way—
The three of them set off together.
