Fu Juezhou and Fu Qing shared a striking resemblance, especially around the eyebrows and nose.

No wonder no one ever questioned their relationship.

“Honey…”

Tang Sui yawned lazily.

“After we get married, are we going to have children?”

Two years earlier, the world had witnessed a major biological breakthrough. Same-sex reproductive cells could now be fused into a fertilized embryo and grown in an artificial incubator.

If Fu Qing wanted children, age was no longer an obstacle.

Fu Qing answered gently,

“If you want them.”

Tang Sui stretched and rose from her chair.

“Alright.”

“If there’s nothing else…”

“I’m going back to sleep.”

She was exhausted.

Fu Qing stood as well.

Crossing the room, she draped her coat over Tang Sui’s shoulders.

“Go rest.”

“I still have work to finish.”

The coat carried a trace of warmth and a faint, pleasant scent.

Tang Sui wrapped it around herself and smiled.

“Then I’m leaving.”

The villa maintained a constant temperature year-round.

She wasn’t cold in her white sundress.

Nor would she overheat wearing an extra coat.

Still…

A gift was a gift.

After returning to Fu Qing’s bedroom, Tang Sui immediately collapsed onto the enormous bed she adored.

It was soft.

Comfortable.

Perfect.

Before falling asleep, she opened her phone and sent a message.

—Xingxing, I’m starving.

—I miss you so much.

Those simple words kept Song Fanxing awake for most of the night.

The next morning, before classes began, Song Fanxing quietly left campus and bought a chocolate-and-strawberry cake.

She carefully stored it in her dormitory and waited for lunch break.

That morning, she had already sent Tang Sui a message.

She had asked her to meet in the empty classroom at noon.

Tang Sui agreed immediately.

They were friends.

Friends could send messages like this.

For perhaps the first time since enrolling at Hermilia Academy, Song Fanxing felt genuinely happy.

Tang Sui was the first friend she had made there.

Though she rarely expressed her emotions openly, the faint brightness in her eyes revealed everything.

From a distance, Qiao Ling noticed her.

This time, however, there was no excitement.

Only irritation.

The words Tang Sui had spoken remained etched into her mind.

Don’t bully Song Fanxing.

How ridiculous.

Why should everyone treat an ordinary girl so differently?

“Pesai.”

A voice interrupted her thoughts.

“What are you looking at?”

Qiao Ling immediately brightened.

Pointing toward Song Fanxing, she said,

“Iloya.”

“Look over there.”

“She’s carrying a cake.”

“It looks like she’s delivering it to someone.”

The golden-haired girl beside her followed the direction of her finger.

Her emerald-green eyes narrowed.

“I see her.”

Qiao Ling immediately raised her camera and snapped a photo of the girl beside her.

“Iloya.”

“You’re even prettier than before.”

Iloya accepted the compliment without hesitation.

“Obviously.”

“I’ve spent a lot of effort maintaining this perfect face.”

She lifted her hand to display an elaborate manicure.

“Look at my nails.”

Qiao Ling gasped dramatically.

“They’re so sparkly!”

Then she quickly added,

“Aren’t you going after Song Fanxing?”

“If you wait any longer, she’ll disappear.”

“Also…”

“She kissed someone else.”

Iloya tucked a loose golden curl behind her ear.

Her expression darkened briefly.

“Weren’t you and Fu Juezhou at school?”

“Why didn’t either of you stop it?”

Then she asked,

“Who kissed her?”

“Doesn’t that person know Song Fanxing belongs to me?”

Qiao Ling lowered her eyes pitifully.

“It was Fu Juezhou’s stepmother.”

“And Fu Juezhou practically sleeps with her.”

“They’re clearly on the same side.”

Iloya clicked her tongue.

“You’re trying to use me.”

Qiao Ling puffed out her cheeks.

“No, I—”

The contract immediately prevented her from continuing.

She rolled her eyes instead.

“Forget it.”

“If you don’t hurry, Song Fanxing really will be gone.”

“No rush.”

Iloya clapped her hands.

“Two of you.”

“Go stop Song Fanxing.”

“The rest…”

“Prepare everything.”

Immediately, several attendants moved into action.

A bright red carpet was unrolled from the school entrance all the way into campus.

Students began gathering from every direction.

Someone shouted excitedly,

“Princess Yi is back!”

More and more people rushed over.

Qiao Ling glanced sideways.

Iloya merely smiled.

“How could my return be anything less than spectacular?”

Then she stepped onto the carpet.

Her entrance was absurdly dramatic.

Yet somehow…

It suited her perfectly.

Golden curls framed a face so flawless it seemed unreal.

Deep green eyes gleamed beneath long lashes.

Every movement radiated confidence.

Everyone stared.

And Iloya enjoyed every second of it.

She lifted her chin slightly.

Yes.

This was how things should be.

Everyone’s attention belonged to her.

“She’s so beautiful…”

A nearby girl whispered to her friend.

“If she were my girlfriend, I could die happy.”

Her friend’s face instantly changed.

The teasing smile disappeared.

Instead, she began frantically signaling with her eyes.

The girl’s heart skipped a beat.

Slowly…

She looked up.

Iloya was walking directly toward her.

The surrounding noise vanished.

The girl froze.

Her face grew red.

“Princess Yi…”

“Y-you…”

“Be quiet.”

Iloya casually twirled a strand of golden hair.

“Now.”

“Slap yourself ten times.”

The girl’s eyes widened.

“I…”

“Three.”

“Two.”

“…”

A sharp slap echoed.

Then another.

And another.

Until ten.

By the end, her cheeks were bright red.

Iloya smiled in satisfaction and walked away.

Behind her, the girl lowered her head.

“What did I do wrong?”

A friend patted her shoulder sympathetically.

“You talked about dating her.”

“Princess Yi hates that.”

“You’re only allowed to praise her beauty.”

Meanwhile, Song Fanxing stopped walking.

Her expression darkened.

Two students stood directly in her path.

She recognized them immediately.

Iloya’s followers.

“What do you want?”

One of them grinned.

“Princess Yi has returned.”

“Shouldn’t you go greet her?”

Song Fanxing’s voice remained cold.

“Why?”

How long would these people continue tormenting her?

The second girl frowned.

“Do you understand what an honor this is?”

“Princess Yi likes you.”

As she spoke, she reached for Song Fanxing’s arm.

Song Fanxing stepped aside.

Annoyance flashed through her eyes.

Why was it always like this?

She only wanted to finish school peacefully.

Not become entertainment for a group of lunatics.

Clutching the cake to her chest, she tried walking around them.

The two girls immediately followed.

“Come on.”

“We’re not bullying you today.”

“Just meet Princess Yi.”

After a long silence, Song Fanxing nodded.

She had no choice.

If they followed her, she couldn’t go to the classroom anyway.

Pulling out her phone, she opened her chat with Tang Sui.

Her gaze landed on the message she had been about to send.

An apology.

She wouldn’t make it.

Would Tang Sui think she was standing her up?

Song Fanxing lowered her eyes.

Maybe it didn’t matter.

Their friendship wasn’t that deep yet.

Just as she was about to lock her phone—

A new message arrived.

—Look up.

—To your left.

Song Fanxing froze.

Then immediately turned.

Building C.

A familiar figure stood there.

Small.

Distant.

Yet unmistakable.

Tang Sui.

Her heart suddenly skipped a beat.

Why was she here?

Relief washed through her.

Followed by something she couldn’t quite name.

“Hey.”

One of the girls grew impatient.

“Stop staring into space.”

“Come with us.”

She reached for Song Fanxing’s arm.

Before her fingers could close—

Another hand grabbed her wrist first.

“Tch.”

“Who—”

The girl turned angrily.

Then froze.

A pair of smiling peach-blossom eyes met hers.

For a brief moment, she forgot how to breathe.

She had never seen anyone more beautiful than Iloya before.

Now she had.

The next second—

Pain shot through her wrist.

Her face turned pale instantly.

Tang Sui smiled politely.

“I need to borrow her for a little while.”

“Would you mind stepping aside?”

The girl nodded frantically.

“O-Okay.”

The other follower looked from Tang Sui to her partner.

Even with her limited grasp of the language, she understood one thing.

Her companion looked terrified.

After a moment of thought…

She wisely chose to do absolutely nothing.
