A Long-Awaited Marriage - Chapter 4
Not long after Lu Anran left, Ding Shuyao also got ready and went out. She even brought the eggs Lu Anran had cooked for her for the Beginning of Summer.
Two years ago, on a turbulent night, Ding Shuyao discovered evidence of her boyfriend Zhang Zifan’s infidelity. The other woman was none other than her then-colleague and best friend, Sun Yinyin.
Men are insatiable; even though they already have girlfriends, they still keep their eyes on other women.
When such a melodramatic plot happened to Ding Shuyao, she thought she would hysterically confront the two of them.
But she didn’t. She simply packed her bags neatly and moved out of the apartment she shared with Zhang Zifan.
Ding Shuyao is a girl who dares to love and hate. In her heart, it’s better to let go decisively than to fight tooth and nail and get entangled in a messy situation.
She doesn’t care about a pile of trash. If the green tea bitch wants it, she’ll just give it away.
A few days later, Ding Shuyao saw a job posting on a local website recruiting roommates.
She dialed the number and heard a sweet, clear female voice. The two quickly arranged a time to meet.
“Hello, my name is Lu Anran.”
“Hello, my name is Ding Shuyao.”
The two girls hit it off immediately and chatted happily. They decided to share an apartment right away.
In the days that followed, the two got along very well. Ding Shuyao grew to like Lu Anran more and more; not only was she beautiful, but she was also humble, polite, self-disciplined, responsible, and an excellent cook.
Her eyes, when she smiles, seem to hold sparkling little stars, bright and gentle, especially charming.
“Ranran, if I were a man, I would definitely pursue you!” Ding Shuyao always said this.
She opened up to Lu Anran, talking about the scumbag Zhang Zifan and the scheming Sun Yinyin, and sharing many of her own stories.
“Hey, Ranran, how many boyfriends have you had?”
Lu Anran was very open with Ding Shuyao, but when it came to matters of the heart, she would always smile but remain silent.
Over time, Ding Shuyao stopped asking. This must be Ranran’s pain. A pain she can’t let go of.
Ding Shuyao snapped out of her thoughts, gently squeezed the Lixia egg, and silently prayed: Lixia egg, Lixia egg, please bless me to pass the interview!
If she doesn’t find a job soon, she’ll really be starving!
I’ve been relying on Ranran for financial support lately, and I feel a bit embarrassed about it. A flower shop sounds beautiful and romantic, but she knows the hardships involved.
She needs to find a job quickly!
Lu Anran counted the green plants she was going to send out today and loaded them onto the electric tricycle one by one.
When she returned after delivering the flowers, she found a little boy sitting at the entrance of the flower shop.
She was about five or six years old, wearing a trendy hoodie set and carrying a light blue cartoon backpack.
At this time, she should be at kindergarten, right? Why is she sitting alone in front of her shop?
As Lu Anran parked the tricycle and took off her smock, she walked over to the little boy and asked, “Little friend, what are you doing here? Where are your family?”
The adorable little boy looked Lu Anran up and down. After a while, he touched his chin and said calmly, “You’re not bad looking. I’ll ask you to be my mom!”
Lu Anran’s forehead creased with annoyance, and she chuckled, “Little one, you’re so cute! But you can’t joke like that, okay? Where are your mom and dad?”
The little boy stood up, dusted himself off, met Lu Anran’s probing gaze, and said angrily, “My mom is dead. My dad… I hate him!”
Lu Anran was speechless for a moment. Looking at the little boy’s slightly angry expression, he didn’t seem to be lying.
Although she didn’t experience much maternal love, she still had a close relationship with her father.
Lu Anran felt some sympathy for the little boy.
“So, I want to find myself a mother. I think you’d be perfect for me.” The little boy circled Lu Anran again, scrutinizing her carefully.
The more he looked, the more satisfied he became, nodding repeatedly.
Looking at his expression, Lu Anran suddenly became wary. Could it be some kind of scam by a fraud gang?
Are they going to kidnap her and the shop together?
She took out her phone and waved it in front of the little boy. “Little boy, where’s your dad? If you don’t tell me, I’m going to call the police!”
The little boy panicked and pleaded, “No, please don’t call me ‘police officer.’ The police chief knows my dad. I ran away from kindergarten secretly. If my dad finds out, he’ll definitely beat me!”
“He always hits me! I hate him so much!”
Lu Anran frowned. The little boy’s anxiety and fear seemed genuine. “Why does your dad always hit you?”
The little boy pouted and after a long while said defiantly, “He thinks I’m disobedient.”
Lu Anran thought for a moment, “Hitting someone is wrong. But tell me, who is your father?”
