- Chapter 6 - Behind Closed Walls
If Chen Jiumeng couldn’t get in touch with her, she would eventually go to Qian Shanyue and reveal that Xu Suxin had never actually left the country.
But would they even think to look for her here?
When Xu Suxin bought this villa, she had never told anyone about it.
At that moment, Lu Chenxing reached out and pressed a button on the wall.
With a soft mechanical sound, the wall panels slid open from both sides, exposing three hidden cameras behind them.
Xu Suxin’s expression darkened.
“As you wished,” Lu Chenxing said evenly. “It has the group-viewing effect you always liked.”
“I’ll kill you.”
“I wanted to kill you back then too.”
Comparing their actions side by side, it was difficult to say who was more ruthless.
But in this confrontation, Lu Chenxing had clearly gone even further.
“What did you just call me?”
The sensation coursing through Xu Suxin’s body was impossible to ignore—subtle, persistent, strangely familiar, yet burning with intensity. She wanted nothing more than to break the hand touching her.
As though she hadn’t heard the question, Lu Chenxing simply said,
“Xu Suxin. Look at yourself.”
Xu Suxin raised her eyes toward the mirror.
She saw herself in complete disarray.
Her eyes were flushed red.
Her skin carried an unnatural blush.
Her breathing had become rapid and uneven from the lingering feeling of suffocation.
The restraint around her wrist remained firmly linked to Lu Chenxing’s ankle.
Xu Suxin refused to yield. She lifted her chin defiantly.
“Do you think I should switch on the cameras?”
She let out a muffled groan.
“Get lost.”
Lu Chenxing lightly pressed a finger against her lips.
“Open your mouth.”
Without waiting for a response, Lu Chenxing slid her finger directly into Xu Suxin’s mouth.
Looking into the mirror, Xu Suxin met Lu Chenxing’s gaze head-on.
How interesting.
Despite her obvious disgust, Lu Chenxing hadn’t used the gloved hand.
Instead, she deliberately used the hand she associated with revenge, allowing it to come into direct contact with Xu Suxin’s saliva.
Xu Suxin refused to believe that someone she had toyed with for an entire year could truly remain unaffected.
Her eyes narrowed.
Without hesitation, she bit down.
Hard.
Her teeth sank deep into Lu Chenxing’s finger, nearly crushing the bone beneath.
Pain flashed across Lu Chenxing’s face.
Grabbing Xu Suxin by the chin, she slammed her elbow into the wall, causing several cameras to activate at once.
Xu Suxin’s clothing had already slipped half open.
Under the harsh lights, she resembled a sacrifice waiting to be claimed.
She had always stood above everyone else.
Never before had she suffered such humiliation.
She clenched her teeth tightly as the taste of blood spread through her mouth.
Neither of them escaped uninjured.
Lu Chenxing slowly withdrew her finger and lowered her eyes to the deep bite marks left behind.
The moment she did, Xu Suxin seized the opportunity.
She wound the chain around Lu Chenxing’s neck.
The metal dug deeply into flesh as Xu Suxin pulled with all her strength, forcing Lu Chenxing backward until she stumbled against the wall and struck the button that paused the recording.
Within moments, Lu Chenxing’s breathing became labored.
Blood surged wildly through Xu Suxin’s veins.
Even after all these years, every cell in her body still thrilled at the thought of tormenting Lu Chenxing.
Watching her face gradually flush from suffocation sent an almost intoxicating rush through her.
Then, in the very next instant, Lu Chenxing’s free hand closed around Xu Suxin’s throat.
The two stood locked in a brutal stalemate.
Neither willing to let go.
Neither willing to retreat.
Xu Suxin watched blood vessels rise within Lu Chenxing’s eyes while her own breathing reached its limit.
The disparity in strength between them was obvious.
She would suffocate first.
Making a swift decision, Xu Suxin released the chain and used the last of her remaining strength to slap Lu Chenxing across the face.
The sharp crack echoed through the room.
Lu Chenxing’s head snapped to one side.
As soon as the grip on her neck loosened, Xu Suxin staggered backward, dizzy and gasping for breath.
She bent over, coughing violently.
When she looked up again, Lu Chenxing was in no better condition.
Her breathing was equally uneven.
Leaning against the wall, the gauze covering her neck had already fallen away, exposing freshly stitched wounds soaked in blood.
Without expression, Lu Chenxing tore away the remaining dressing.
Blood trickled slowly down her neck.
“Are you getting revenge on me?”
Xu Suxin merely smiled.
She didn’t answer.
Both of them understood exactly what Lu Chenxing meant.
The suffocating pain around Xu Suxin’s throat had yet to fade, while the heat within her body continued to intensify.
Tilting her neck to loosen the stiffness, she walked toward the pool and lowered herself into the water, resting both arms along the edge.
Still breathing heavily, she looked over at Lu Chenxing.
“President Lu.”
“How about a kiss?”
Lu Chenxing’s gaze darkened, but she remained silent.
Xu Suxin let out a cold laugh.
At that moment, she genuinely wanted to pin Lu Chenxing beneath her and slap her until she died.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.
Suppressing the trembling spreading through her body, she remembered that she had fainted the previous day and still had no idea how Lu Chenxing had bathed her.
After soaking for a while, Xu Suxin climbed out of the pool.
She grabbed a wooden chair beside the bathtub and swung it directly into the cameras, smashing several of them to the floor.
After washing herself, she wrapped a towel loosely around her body and casually tied it at the waist.
Late that night, the doctor entered once again.
The moment she saw the fresh injuries covering both women’s necks, she couldn’t help drawing in a sharp breath.
Fortunately, she had long since learned that silence was safest around these people.
Xu Suxin lounged lazily against the headboard, one leg bent, absentmindedly rubbing the bruises around her own throat.
“Stop touching it.”
The doctor stitched Lu Chenxing’s wound while speaking.
“The cut is too deep. If it becomes infected and causes a fever, even a wolf wouldn’t be able to stand.”
Xu Suxin suddenly raised her head.
Lu Chenxing looked back at her.
The hostility hidden beneath those blue eyes seemed capable of swallowing her whole.
Had there been a knife nearby, there would likely have been even more bloodshed.
When the doctor packed her medical kit and prepared to leave, Xu Suxin called after her.
“Doctor.”
The doctor turned around.
Smiling faintly, Xu Suxin tapped the bruises around her neck.
The chain around her wrist shimmered beneath the dim light, looking almost like jewelry rather than a restraint.
“Do you have any ointment?”
“I don’t like leaving marks.”
The doctor happened to have some.
She handed over the tube.
Taking it with a smile, Xu Suxin said,
“Thank you.”
Just as the doctor closed the medical case, an inexplicable chill crept up her spine.
Unable to stop herself, she cautiously asked,
“President Lu… would you like one as well?”
Lu Chenxing remained silent.
The doctor wisely left without another word.
Only after crossing the courtyard and stepping outside the villa did she finally let out a long breath.
Xu Suxin quietly applied the ointment to her own neck.
Without speaking, Lu Chenxing picked up a blanket and tossed it onto her.
That night, Lu Chenxing never returned.
Even so, Xu Suxin could hear several fierce guard dogs stationed outside the room.
Meanwhile, Qian Shanyue had circled the airport countless times.
She had rushed there that very night.
No matter how many times she called, Xu Suxin’s phone remained unreachable.
Checking the records, she confirmed that Xu Suxin had purchased a ticket to the United States, completed all departure procedures, and boarded the flight.
She had already contacted the overseas airline and was waiting for a reply.
On the surface, everything appeared perfectly normal.
A bankrupt heiress choosing to leave the country to rebuild her life would surprise no one.
Qian Shanyue then contacted Xu Suxin’s assistant.
The assistant confirmed that Xu Suxin always carried her passport whenever she went out.
“Should we report her missing?” the assistant asked.
“No.”
“We can’t call the police.”
Given the Xu family’s current circumstances, involving law enforcement would only make matters worse.
If word spread that Xu Suxin had disappeared, creditors would descend immediately, destroying any remaining chance she had to recover.
Every piece of evidence pointed toward one conclusion.
Xu Suxin had gone abroad.
It would not even seem unusual if she had staged her own disappearance to avoid creditors.
And yet…
Everything had been arranged too perfectly.
Too efficiently.
People who didn’t know Xu Suxin might think she had planned it herself.
But those who truly understood her knew otherwise.
She despised schemes like this.
After a moment of silence, Qian Shanyue said,
“Investigate the racecourse.”
Then she added,
“Find a manager we know personally. Don’t make a scene.”
She had a strong feeling that whoever had orchestrated this was counting on them not daring to contact the authorities.
Perhaps they were even watching every move.
Piece by piece, Qian Shanyue reviewed everyone Xu Suxin had ever wronged.
She matched every incident to every individual involved.
But the methods used this time didn’t resemble ordinary revenge.
They looked more like the settling of an emotional debt.
Lu Chenxing did not appear the following morning.
Xu Suxin’s throat hurt terribly.
Several times during the previous night, she had awakened in a haze, convinced someone was squeezing her neck.
Whenever she forced her eyes open, she seemed to glimpse Lu Chenxing standing quietly beside the bed.
The first thing she did after waking was inspect her arms.
There were no needle marks.
No signs that she had been injected with anything.
Only after confirming that did she look at herself in the mirror.
Dark bruises ringed her neck.
She silently applied another layer of ointment.
At noon, the Filipino maid delivered lunch again.
Looking toward her, Xu Suxin suddenly asked,
“Do you know what Lu Chenxing called me?”
If the answer involved something she could never accept, Xu Suxin would rather kill Lu Chenxing and then herself.
She refused to let her life be controlled by anything of that sort.
The maid offered no reply.
She quietly set down the food and left.
Xu Suxin clenched her teeth.
Her hatred for Lu Chenxing only deepened.
Which, perhaps, was exactly what Lu Chenxing intended.
The objective had become clear.
This was psychological warfare.
Break her mentally.
Push her toward collapse.
Make suffering feel normal.
Then return with occasional kindness until cruelty itself became something she depended on.
Xu Suxin despised such tactics.
She herself had always been straightforward in her malice.
If she wanted something, she simply took it.
No wonder Lu Chenxing had studied abroad.
Her methods were even more calculating.
This time, Xu Suxin decided not to continue resisting blindly.
She feared that if she pushed Lu Chenxing too far, the woman would simply ensure no one ever found her.
Then she truly would remain trapped here forever.
The meal suited her tastes perfectly.
Especially the shrimp.
She peeled them slowly, using the repetitive motion to pass the endless hours.
Inside such complete isolation, with nothing to distract her, time itself became a form of torture.
After finishing her meal, Xu Suxin carefully wiped the fork clean.
The Filipino maid returned to collect the dishes.
Then she brought the large black dog into the room.
After sniffing around several times, the dog located the fork Xu Suxin had hidden on herself.
Following that, every movable object in the room was carried out one by one.
Until only the bare essentials remained.
