- Chapter 60 - "Father" and Brienne's Awakening
“I remember you, Ariel, came from a small village in a small duchy?”
“yes.”
“Learning astrological magic seems to require a trace of the Star God’s bloodline. Could it be that, Alyssa, you are actually…”
“No, that’s not true.”
Ariel patted Mira’s head:
“It’s just my unreliable father… my ex-father. It’s a pity I’m under the ‘Magic Lock’ curse, otherwise I could have demonstrated it to you.”
Mira spoke in a low voice, almost whispering beside Ariel, because this was a huge secret for Ariel and she couldn’t let more people know.
“I think I know what you’re thinking, Ariel!”
Mira’s eyes darted around, she thought for a moment, and then made a fan-like gesture with her right hand:
“Ariel, you want to refine an ‘Energy Storage Crystal.’ Once you have external magic power, defeat all enemies with astrological magic in the final exams!”
“Hmm, Mira is pretty good, you guessed it all!”
Ariel leaned back, clenched her fists in front of her, and feigned surprise.
Mila stroked her chin with her little hand, and it seemed she was already wearing a detective’s deerstalker hat on her head.
“Hmph, I am Mira Labilins, whose body looks like a child but whose intelligence surpasses that of ordinary people.”
Okay, okay.
Ariel called over a shop assistant and decided to buy “Iron Bones” and “Whispers of the Stars”.
When the shop assistant saw Ariel’s two choices, he was taken aback at first, and then he explained to Ariel the basic knowledge of choosing a staff, such as suitability, quality, price, etc.
Because she noticed that although Ariel and Mira were dressed as witches, they didn’t look like wealthy people. Especially Mira, whose witch outfit was faded from washing, clearly worn for many years.
The sales clerk tried to persuade her for a long time, almost saying “don’t buy it,” but Alyssa nodded repeatedly and finally decided to buy it anyway.
Unable to fight city hall, the shop assistant, out of respect for others’ fate, went to the warehouse to find the two staffs.
While waiting for the shop assistant, Ariel’s gaze fell on another area.
I never expected that a staff shop would sell witch brooms. No wonder it’s a shop run by a witch.
After the shop assistant returned, Ariel spoke first:
“We still need two more high-quality witch brooms.”
“Oh… alright, alright. The staffs for both guests are ready. Please come with me to the testing ground to try them out. If they feel comfortable, you can decide to purchase them later.”
“I didn’t expect you guys to be so thoughtful!”
Mira couldn’t wait to use her new staff. She walked far ahead, glancing back every now and then at the shop assistant and Ariel following behind.
Halfway there, Mila gradually slowed down, eventually waiting for the shop assistant before following behind.
She scratched her head and said shyly:
“I don’t know where the testing ground is, haha…”
The shop assistant maintained a professional smile, trying her best not to look at the customer strangely, opened the door to the testing area, and said:
“Please come in, guests. The staff has been placed in the testing area.”
The so-called testing ground was simply a fairly large basement dug in the basement of the staff shop.
Go down the spiral wooden staircase of the staff shop, and you’ll see a spacious underground space.
The walls of the testing ground were inlaid with thick magic-patterned stones, the surfaces of which were engraved with intersecting runes to buffer the power of magic.
At intervals along the testing grounds, two fist-sized yellow magic crystals were embedded, emitting light and illuminating the entire testing grounds.
Rows of wooden targets stood ready, and traces left by previous testers could still be seen on the ground.
Mira jogged over, picked up the “Iron Bone” that was leaning against the wooden target, held it in one hand, and kept touching the staff inside and out with the other, clearly fond of it.
“I’ll burn that little black stick as firewood when I get back!”
Mila declared this.
The moment Ariel’s hand touched “Whispers of the Stars,” the star at the tip of the staff suddenly lit up gently, emitting the same starlight as Ariel’s eyes.
The yellow magic crystals in the test field quickly faded, and Mira’s cheers seemed to be muffled by a constantly thickening water curtain.
The next moment, the silent vacuum of space enveloped her. Ariel found herself amidst the vastness of space, with a blue planet behind her.
Countless tiny stars streaked past, rushing into the Milky Way before my eyes, transforming into a dazzling spectacle.
“My child…you’ve finally come to see me…”
A woman’s voice echoed through the starry sky.
Upon hearing the voice, Ariel turned her face away, bent down, and flew towards the blue planet, completely ignoring her.
“Child, don’t you want to say another word to your father?”
The woman’s voice persisted relentlessly.
At the same time, the entire galaxy pressed down on Alyssa.
In that instant, Ariel felt an overwhelming pressure from the starry sky emanating from every angle around her.
“You deliberately left this staff here?”
Ariel closed her eyes, her brows furrowed slightly, and the muscles in her cheeks twitched.
“My daughter, of course, without it you cannot use astrological magic.”
“Ariel’s father said coquettishly.”
“Where is my mother? Have you found her?”
Ariel desperately wanted to escape, but this was her father’s domain. Unless she reached a level where she could unleash her own domain, her father was the “creator” of this domain.
The woman sighed, the sound coming from all directions, assaulting Ariel’s eardrums:
“My daughter, why don’t you treat me as your mother too? That would make you feel better…”
“Get out! Let me go back!”
Ariel really didn’t know how to respond to what her father said; wasn’t that just plain crazy?
Even though you are a woman now, you played the role of a father when you were born, right?
You’re the one who drove your mother away, and you still want to be both father and mother? You’re shameless.
This is a place you should avoid going back to if you can avoid it!
“Alright, my daughter, calm down, I’ll take you home now.”
The entire Milky Way engulfed Ariel’s body, like a drop of water falling into an endless ocean.
In the blink of an eye, Ariel was back at the shooting range, with Mira beside her still examining the new staff.
Damn father… Ugh…

Meanwhile, inside Alyssa’s dormitory.
A cloud of black mist emerged from Ariel’s witch’s broom. After that, the black mist gradually condensed into the shape of Evelyn.
Evelyn’s phantom surveyed everything in the room, giggling:
“This is Ariel’s room, it’s so small.”
Brienne was sweeping the floor. Upon seeing the phantom Evelyn, she intended to question who she was, but when Evelyn waved her hand, Brienne’s eyes glazed over, as if she had lost her soul, and her body stopped moving.
Evelyn’s phantom floated in front of Brienne, and gently touched Brienne’s forehead with her finger:
“That potion contains Ariel’s blood, Brian. That blood is deeply intertwined with yours. In the demon realm, you two would already be married and have children.”
“From now on, you’ll suffer in your love for Ariel, and then slowly rediscover your true ‘self’!”
The black fog dissipated.
Brienne opened her eyes again.
She first looked at Ariel’s bed, slowly walked over, picked up Ariel’s pillow, and kept sucking on it.
At this moment, Brienne’s sharpness had completely faded, replaced by a soft, pinkish-white ripple.
