“…”

Ariel could clearly see Mila’s hair, and she didn’t want to lie to Mila and say that her hair was fine.

After all, this is something Mira would know if she looked in the mirror, so even a well-intentioned lie wouldn’t make a difference.

Ariel suppressed a laugh, making a strange sound in her throat:

“I think Mila, you need a wig.”

“oh!”

Mila looked up at the sky, her mouth pouting so wide it could fit a peacock egg.

She emitted a series of indescribable, surprisingly pleasant, melodic “oh oh” sounds, and shouted loudly:

“Oh my Goddess of Light!!! My beautiful hair!!!”

Mila’s hair had a large crater burned in the middle, surrounded by curls that stood upright and protected it; if water were poured in, it could really form a lake.

For girls, this really damages their image.

Brienne stood by, but showed no physical reaction, as if the matter had nothing to do with her.

“While cleaning the room, I unexpectedly discovered that Miss Mira has an identical wig. Would you like me to fetch it for you?”

“ah?”

Mira screamed, then covered her mouth, trying to adjust her tone to avoid complaints from other dormitories:

“I…I…I prepared that to prevent hair loss, because this hair isn’t even mine, it belongs to a friend I’ve known since childhood…”

Mira’s voice grew softer and softer, which touched Ariel’s heartstrings even more.

My original thought was that since my hair was already burned like this, I might as well cut it into the style that a girl should have.

Mila has grown up, and that messy bird’s nest hairstyle no longer suits her.

It was only then that I realized why Mira liked this hairstyle and spent time carefully styling it every day—it was because of a cherished memory.

Let’s go along with Mira’s wishes.

Alyssa nodded.

Brienne said “Excuse me” to Mila, found Mila’s wig, and handed it to Ariel.

Ariel carefully placed the wig on Mila’s head, following Mila’s usual hairstyle.

In an instant, Mila, who had always been there, returned once again.

Mira looked in the mirror, combing her wig, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face.

“Luckily, I prepared a wig in advance. I’ll wear it until my hair grows out!”

Ariel thought for a moment, then decided not to press Mira about the playmate she mentioned. Doing so would only remind Mira of that painful memory.

“Is this the place?”

“They didn’t even install a doorbell, that’s really enough.”

There was a knocking sound at the door.

Brienne was closest to the door, so she opened it after getting Ariel’s permission.

Outside the door, Lynn and Felin, each holding a book, were somewhat taken aback when they saw a short-haired girl dressed as a maid open the door.

“Please come in, you two.”

Upon hearing Ariel’s words, Brienne stepped aside:

“Please come in.”

“oh……”

Lynn and Felin were still somewhat hesitant as they entered the room. From a distance, they could see a small, incomplete fire core array on the ground, as well as the open “Basic Magic Rune Studies” book. They could also faintly sense the lingering fire element.

They were witches too; Lynn was dressed in a purple witch’s outfit, with white boots covering her thighs.

Felin was dressed in a light green witch’s outfit, with a wreath around her witch’s hat as decoration.

Lynn picked up the book in her hand and showed it to Ariel:

“Ariel, you and Mira are second to last and last in your grade. According to the academy’s arrangements, we have come here specifically to provide you with tutoring.”

It seems there was such a thing.

However, I went to the dungeon with the Hero Squad before the end of last semester and did not attend any tutoring sessions.

Mira walked out of the bedroom and saw Lynn and Felin. She blinked her big eyes.

“I remember you two were just going through the motions last semester and didn’t even show up! Why are you here this semester?”

Lynn didn’t get angry at Mira’s difficult behavior; instead, she shrugged.

“Last semester, we didn’t think the two witches could be inferior to the people from the magic academy, and we were busy reviewing our own studies, so we didn’t come. Who knew you would do this?”

Film echoed:

“Yeah, yeah, the witch actually got second to last and last place in the grade, how embarrassing!”

“Are you still going to have tutoring?”

Ariel’s face fell, her brows furrowed with displeasure.

After I became a useless person, those two were among those who bullied me. How dare they say that now? Haven’t they been hurt by Lise yet?

Lynn and Felin stopped mocking each other. Lynn said:

“I see you are learning the most basic Fire Core Array, so let’s start with the advanced knowledge of Fire Core Array.”

Lynn, Philin, Ariel, and Mira sat on the floor. Philin was tutoring Mira, while Lynn was tutoring Ariel.

“Today, let’s first understand the principle of magic flow in the Fire Core Pattern. This is the most basic thing. Without understanding the principle of magic flow, the magic circle can easily go berserk.”

Lynn spoke first, pushing her densely marked notebook in front of Mira, her finger hovering over a section of text highlighted in red:

“Look at this section I marked; the magic must be injected into the center point, which we call the ‘origin.'”

“After the magic is released from the origin, it must form a vortex at the center of the outer arc of the runes. This must be done precisely. I specifically confirmed this with my magic rune teacher. The textbook only says ‘reflects near the outer arc,’ but I’m being far more precise.”

Mira blinked, then wrote down everything Lynn had said in her notebook, making sure to draw a red circle around the “center of the rune” to emphasize it.

Brienne saw all of this and was somewhat puzzled.

In her memory, the point where the magic returned should be at the end of the outermost ring of runes. How could the top two students in the grade be so certain of this?

Nearby, when Philin got to this point in his story, Ariel asked a question:

“I always remember it being at the end of the rune, right?”

Film laughed and interrupted:

“You’re mistaken. This question was on the final exam last semester, and you answered it wrong as soon as I saw it.”

Lynn and Phil continued explaining the knowledge in the notes. Mira wrote down whatever Lynn said, such as “You can use water element to draw a fire core array, with water supporting fire,” and “Runes have variants. In a magic circle, you can use either variant or original runes.”

Mira accepted all requests and obediently jotted them down in her notebook with a quill pen. When she came across keywords that Lynn repeatedly emphasized, Mira used a little magic trick to turn the quill pen ink red and circled them in red.

Brienne became increasingly doubtful of herself as she listened, feeling as if her memory system had been completely overturned.

Water and fire are incompatible; using one element to draw a magic circle of another is a major taboo, and could very likely trigger a magical explosion.

The shape of the rune determines the direction of the magic circle’s power. Variant runes have the same meaning as the original runes, but their shapes are different, so how can they be used interchangeably?

Brienne wanted to object, suggesting it might be deliberately misleading her master. However, aside from those points, the rest of the information was correct, and Ariel didn’t question it, simply memorizing it silently.

After Lynn and Felin finished their tutoring session and left, Ariel stood coldly by the window, watching their retreating figures as they left the dormitory area, and said:

“Mira, tear up everything you wrote down today. They’re not here for tutoring, they’re here to sabotage us.”
