- Chapter 34 - Escape Drama
The High Priest of the Church of Light happened to be visiting the training grounds of the Dragon Riders. He too was drawn to the strange, mournful afterimage that passed by.
The commander of the Dragon Riders also muttered to himself, looking at the afterimage as if it were a hero.
But how could the savior of mankind, the dignified “Glorious Warrior,” be running naked in the palace?
Brian’s clothes were disheveled, his steps were unsteady, and increasingly high-pitched whimpers came from his throat.
“Ughhh!!!”
Brian’s voice completely turned into a female voice, and she was surprised that this unfamiliar voice was coming from her own throat.
Then came a wave of excruciating pain that swept through her entire body, so intense that all her muscles went numb. She collapsed into a corner piled with haystacks, curling up like a shrimp, trembling violently.
A streak of blue wind swept past and then returned to Brian.
Fu Rongyuan saw with her own eyes that Brian’s clothes had been torn to shreds, and the exposed collarbone was becoming slender and softer in a way that was visible to the naked eye.
Her originally flat chest gradually swelled up, with an abrupt curve supporting the already meager amount of fabric covering her chest.
“Yong, Lord Yong…?”
Ariel, far away at the academy, was in her dormitory. Because Mira was also in the dormitory, Ariel could only cover her head with a pillow and blanket, forcibly suppressing her uncontrollable laughter, tears streaming down her face.
Fu Rongyuan still pretended that the matter had nothing to do with him, and when he saw the hero showing female characteristics, he exaggeratedly opened his mouth wide.
Brian heard Fu Rongyuan’s voice. He looked up abruptly, his hair disheveled and obscuring his eyes, his gaze filled with exhaustion, and his face covered in sweat. He tried to speak, but only a series of broken, breathy sounds came out.
“Hero, you…you seem to have turned into a girl…I’ll ease your pain right away…”
With great goodwill, Fu Rongyuan chanted a third-tier spell on the spot, which could temporarily alleviate Brian’s pain.
Brian’s eyes darted around, then he suddenly stood up, lifted his leg, and without giving Fu Rongyuan another glance, he seemed to have confirmed the direction and started running again.
Fu Rongyuan stood there, watching Brian’s white back, a cold smile curving her lips.
Now it’s up to the Demon Queen Evelyn; my task is complete.
The knights quickly found their way here and saw Fu Rongyuan running anxiously and breathlessly toward them along the path.
Ashka quickly stepped forward to stop Furong Yuan. Before he could ask any questions, Furong Yuan caught her breath, then pointed in a certain direction and said:
“Knights, hurry over there! I saw the hero heading in that direction. It’s my first time at the palace, and I got a little lost. I couldn’t catch up with the hero…”
Ashka quickly gave orders to his men:
“That’s the direction out of the palace. Notify the royal guards to move out and make sure they stop the hero! Also, instruct the guards to keep the news under wraps; this was specifically emphasized by His Majesty the King.”
Seeing the knights scatter, Fu Rongyuan stopped panting, rode the wind elemental and searched around the palace for a while before heading out of the palace.
The climax of this scene has only just begun, and I can’t miss it.
Inside the dormitory, Alyssa tidied her messy hair and smiled as she suggested to Mira:
“Mira, since there are still a few days left of this fall break, why don’t we go for a stroll around the capital? Didn’t you want to drink sago pudding? It’s on me today!”
“Sago Pudding!”
Mira tossed aside the “Basic Magic Rune Science” book she hadn’t even finished reading a single page of in days, opened her sleepy eyes, and happily said:
“Yay!”
Ariel was secretly delighted.
So the two of them rode on their magic brooms and headed to the climax of the escape show they had booked—the Royal Capital West Market.
The West Market of the Royal Capital is the busiest place in the Royal Capital of Veselin.
The narrow streets were crowded with stalls displaying all sorts of flags, and the air was filled with the mixed smells of food and livestock.
The crowds were shoulder to shoulder, and in addition to humans, you could also see various other races that were friendly to humans, all trying their best to sell their wares.
Across from a shop called “Trouble Relief General Store,” a caravan dressed in exotic clothing from a neighboring country was resting at a snack stall. They chatted and laughed, clinking glasses, but their eyes kept glancing around.
“Whoa!!!”
“A madman is running over here, everyone get out of the way!”
The crowd quickly made way for the madman. Brian’s shoes were nowhere to be seen; his bare feet were covered in mud and sand, leaving bloodstains with each step as he ran forward.
“Whose woman is running around naked?”
“Where are the guards? Where are the guards? Come and arrest her!”
The crowd buzzed with discussion, casting strange and even disdainful glances at Brian.
Ariel never understood why Brian chose to run towards the busiest market, the West Market, when running along the alleys of the capital would have made it easy to escape unnoticed.
Brian’s answer was, “Because I seemed to enjoy the attention I received at the time.”
It was later confirmed that Brian had developed this strange fetish because of that exhilarating and extremely painful experience.
To avoid suspicion, Fu Rongyuan did not come into the crowd, but deliberately wandered around the capital, pretending to be looking for a hero.
“This woman has absolutely no virtues!”
Mira and Ariel were also in the crowd, watching Brian’s figure rush past. Mira couldn’t help but mutter a complaint.
Ariel, holding a slice of strawberry cake, said elegantly:
“I have a feeling something’s off…”
As soon as he finished speaking, just as Brian was about to pass by the caravan, all the caravan members removed their disguises and lined up in a row in Brian’s inevitable path.
The crowd saw the horns and tails on the heads of those “people” and shouted:
“It’s the demons! The demons have invaded the capital!”
The crowd, oblivious to everything else, scattered like birds and beasts, trying to escape.
One of the demons, with the larger horn, raised his hand and unleashed a spell, blasting the food stall into dust.
Then, more demons in the crowd revealed their true forms, brandishing weapons and intimidating the humans around them.
The Great Horned Demon’s voice was loud and clear, and everyone in the entire West Market could hear it clearly:
“We’re here specifically to target the hero, not you. Anyone who makes a move will die!”
The demons have an overwhelming advantage over ordinary humans. Mira wanted to intervene, but Ariel stopped her.
“Humans, behold the final fate of these so-called ‘Glorious Heroes’! Activate the magic circle!”
Without warning, the stone slabs within a hundred-meter radius of Brian’s feet transformed into a bottomless, pitch-black mirror.
Within the mirror, one purplish-black magic circle after another operated simultaneously, seemingly shredding all color and sound.
The mirror beneath Brian’s feet suddenly transformed into a void vortex, from which massive black hands emerged one by one, grabbing every part of Brian’s body.
She couldn’t even scream as hundreds of pitch-black hands slowly pulled her body into nothingness until she completely disappeared.
The demons present simultaneously erupted in deafening shouts.
The Great Horned Demon triumphantly declared to the surrounding humans, who were already gripped by panic:
“We demons have used the ‘Void Array’ to banish your human heroes to another dimension forever. You can now wash your necks and wait for the demons to come and enslave you, hahaha…”
