Gu Yezhou nodded slightly. Being tall, he spotted the empty seats immediately.

The two squeezed through the crowd to sit down, and the table was immediately filled with the snacks they had bought.

Seeing that Sang Ning was still standing, Gu Yezhou asked in confusion, “Why don’t you sit down?”

Sang Ning took out a small bottle of alcohol and a pack of wet wipes from his pocket, sprayed and wiped the stool and table before sitting down.

Gu Yezhou shook his head with a helpless smile, “I didn’t expect that Forensic Doctor Sang would have a cleanliness obsession.”

Forensic pathologists are naturally germaphobic. Sang Ning glared at him and blurted out, “Does Captain Gu like me touching a corpse before feeding you with these hands?”

“Cough cough.” Gu Yezhou had just taken a sip of water when he choked, coughing until his eyes were bloodshot.

Seeing this made Sang Ning feel much happier.

Even after Gu Yezhou stopped coughing, he still hadn’t turned around to eat. Sang Ning couldn’t help but wonder, “What’s wrong? Did he choke on his water?”

She was worried that Gu Yezhou might really be in trouble because of her words, so she quickly went forward to check on him.

As a result, his hand was grasped again.

“What are you doing?” Sang Ning tried to pull her hand away, but Gu Yezhou pointed to a signboard poster in front of her.

“Don’t you think the person on that poster looks familiar?”

“What’s so familiar about it? It’s just a two-dimensional comic, you can see it everywhere.” Sang Ning finally managed to pull her hand away, but was bumped by someone passing by. She stumbled and fell into Gu Yezhou’s arms.

Their eyes met, and Sang Ning’s cheeks flushed slightly. “Um… I… I didn’t mean to.”

Gu Yezhou, however, had a serious expression on his face. He didn’t notice the soft body in his arms at all. Instead, he stared at Sang Ning’s face. She was very beautiful and radiant. The warm light shone on her face, making her look like a girl who had stepped out of a comic book.

“Manga, girls.” Gu Yezhou blurted out whatever came to mind.

Sang Ning noticed that the man’s attention was not on this, so she quickly got up and followed Gu Yezhou’s gaze to the poster on the electronic screen not far away.

“Isn’t that a new makeup product launch? I remember Yao Yao saying a few days ago that the Lin Group had released a new product and that she was going to buy it. I think she has this series at home.”

“You like it very much?” Gu Yezhou snapped out of his thoughts and looked at her.

Just as Sang Ning was about to say she didn’t like it, she heard the man say, “I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”

“Huh?” Sang Ning was completely baffled by these four words.

“Don’t you think the protagonist in the comic looks just like you?” Gu Yezhou picked up a box of skewers and started eating.

Sang Ning shook her head. “Maybe it’s not a portrait of me. Stop trying to glorify me.”

Gu Yezhou fell silent this time. He picked up his phone, stood up, took a picture of the poster, and sent it to someone. He then heard a complaining voice on the other end of the phone; it was a young man.

Sang Ning didn’t know who it was, but it definitely wasn’t someone from their Yancheng police station.

After finishing their meal, Gu Yezhou took Sang Ning back to the police station.

No, to be precise, we went back to the opposite side of the police station.

“What are you doing in this neighborhood?” Sang Ning asked, puzzled.

“I live here.” Gu Yezhou drove the car into the residential area and parked it in a parking space not far away.

Sang Ning got out of the car in a daze. Why did she feel like her brain wasn’t working properly today?

“Didn’t you just arrive in Yancheng today?”

“You found a place to stay so quickly?”

“Did you buy this place? I remember the prices in this neighborhood were very high.”

Gu Yezhou took her hand again, and Sang Ning was completely stunned, no longer bothered by the matter of holding hands.

Arriving at the high-rise building, Sang Ning stood in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, where she could take in the entire bustling city.

The police station was brightly lit, and officers could be easily seen working overtime in their offices.

“The house is rented, and the car is borrowed, so don’t feel guilty.” Gu Yezhou gently rubbed Sang Ning’s head and chuckled, “I have to remind Forensic Doctor Sang that we are now in a legal relationship. Is it okay for us to live together?”

“no problem.”

Sang Ning looked at the empty, single-level apartment. It only had hard furnishings and no soft furnishings yet, so she would have to add furniture herself.

In just a few minutes, she had already figured out how to arrange everything.

Thinking of this, she immediately shook her head. This isn’t her home, why bother decorating it!

“What did you just say?” Sang Ning looked at Gu Yezhou’s back, wondering what he was going to do.

The entire living room is currently empty except for two large cardboard boxes containing… a washing machine and a dryer…

Gu Yezhou’s voice came from another room, “Why did you choose to stay at Ping An Apartment? It’s quite far from the police station.”

Sang Ning bluntly stated, “Because we’re poor.”

Gu Yezhou chuckled, “You can use mine from now on.”

He was holding a wallet, and Sang Ning watched as he took out his ID card from it and then stuffed the entire wallet into her hand.

“What are you doing?” Sang Ning crashed again.

No… this happiness came too suddenly.

My ideal man is handsome, knows how to pay money, is tall, and makes me feel very safe!

Isn’t this the domineering CEO from a novel?

However, Gu Yezhou doesn’t seem to be very domineering, nor is he a CEO; he’s just a criminal police captain.

That’s great!

What merit or ability does she, Sang Ning, possess!

Just as Sang Ning was about to cry with emotion, she heard Gu Yezhou say, “From now on, you can spend all my salary, but don’t spend too much, I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford a house.”

Buying a house?

I never want to buy a house in my life, it’s such a rip-off.

Sang Ning listlessly stuffed her wallet back in. “It’s okay, I have my own salary. I think renting is fine too, since I can afford to buy a house.”

Gu Yezhou watched as Sang Ning listlessly walked to the windowsill, squatted down, and propped her cheeks up with her hands.

Thinking back to the Ping An Apartment, Sang Ning’s home was decorated in a warm and cozy way, with lots of random little ornaments. It must have been a very cozy place to live.

He clenched his fist slightly and asked, “Do you like it here?”

Sang Ning nodded, “I like it. Who doesn’t like a big apartment? But I can’t afford to buy one. If I rent, I’m afraid the landlord will sell it after a short time.”

I heard from a colleague at the police station that this happened to him. He wanted to live closer to work, but after renting for less than six months, he received the devastating news that the house was being sold.

Forced by circumstances, we have to move again.

If buying a house weren’t so expensive, why would Sang Ning choose to rent a Ping An apartment?

Gu Yezhou remembered this sentence, and he sent another message on his phone. He quickly received a reply.

He smiled slightly, and was about to ask Sang Ning which room she wanted to stay in when he saw Sang Ning pick up her phone and answer a call.

“I’m not home, don’t come looking for me. We’re over. Wasn’t I clear enough for you at the hospital?”

Lin Zehui’s voice choked on the other end of the phone, “Ningning, please don’t be angry with me anymore, okay? I’ll take you out for a big meal, give you all my salary, and we’ll get our marriage certificate tomorrow, okay?”
