- Chapter 36 - Moving is like stealing
Lu Lin glanced at the wheels, walked around the car, and said as he walked, “Volkswagen, actually I’m not that interested in Volkswagen… Oh my god!”
An ordinary driver can argue with a Volkswagen, but not with a Volkswagen with letters on it.
“I’ll trade, but how long do you want to wait? Don’t tell me you’ll switch back in a day or two.” Lu Lin rubbed his hands together, already eager to try out the car.
“No, as long as I’m still in the bureau, we’ll take turns driving our cars. If you’re not comfortable with that, we can sign a contract.”
Gu Yao was almost ready to say, “I wouldn’t mind if I gave you this car.”
In Lu Lin’s eyes, this little brat just doesn’t know what’s good for him. Otherwise, why would he have been calling him “little brat” for half a year?
“You’re moving, right? I’ll go with you. I’m afraid you two girls aren’t strong enough to carry things like the washing machine. Let me do it!” Lu Lin volunteered.
Sang Ning was speechless. “If you need to move something like a washing machine, shouldn’t you hire a moving company?”
Judging from Gu Yao’s demeanor, this could be easily solved with just two suitcases or two sacks.
“No need, I’m just moving. I can leave all my things with him.” Gu Yao said softly, afraid that the two of them would notice something. She added, “Since Forensic Doctor Lu is going with us, why don’t we switch now? It’s not appropriate for a man like you to drive this. You can have mine.”
As she spoke, Gu Yao got out of the car and quickly climbed into Lu Lin’s car. She then waved to Sang Ning, “Sister Ning, come here! This place is so cute, all fluffy, waaaah, Forensic Doctor Lu is so good at living life.”
Sang Ning reluctantly got out of the passenger seat. Looking at the two excited faces, she only felt exhausted.
When Sang Ning got into Lu Lin’s car, she also sensed something was different.
The passenger seat was no longer cold to the touch, but soft and furry.
Girlish heart, my old man’s girlish heart!
“You lead the way, and I’ll follow,” Lu Lin said excitedly.
I just don’t know how fast the little kid is driving, but…
His car is an electric car. “By the way, take a look at the odometer. I charged my car the day before yesterday. I don’t know how many kilometers it can run. If it’s too far, it probably won’t be able to go back and forth.”
Gu Yao glanced at it, “No problem going back and forth, then let’s go!”
A 20-minute journey felt like half an hour because of this little car.
When she arrived at the entrance of the residential area, she rolled down the car window, greeted the security guard, and was allowed to pass.
“Your neighborhood has good security, why are you moving?”
Sang Ning had thought about this question along the way, but couldn’t figure it out, so he finally asked the question that had been on his mind.
“Is it because your brother is here and you’re planning to stay across from the police station?”
Gu Yao’s eyes widened. “My brother? He doesn’t like anyone living in his house, especially me. He’s always been against me since I was little.”
“Why?”
“He thinks I’m annoying, and also that I have a lot of stuff. Isn’t it normal for girls to have a lot of stuff?”
Faced with such a strange reason, Sang Ning was both amused and exasperated.
Gu Yao lives in an old residential area without an elevator, so she has to climb stairs.
Fortunately, Gu Yao lived on the third floor.
“Um, Sister Ning, could you wait for me at the door?”
Sang Ning found it strange; wasn’t the plan to move?
“It’ll be tiring to tidy up by yourself, let me help you.”
“No need, Sister Ning, I can manage by myself,” Gu Yao said softly, opening the door and looking around.
This doesn’t look like her home at all.
As soon as she opened the door, Sang Ning smelled alcohol. Peering through the crack in the door, she saw bottles of alcohol piled up on the coffee table in the living room, along with a lot of uneaten food.
Looking down into the entryway, all she saw were men’s shoes. Gu Yao’s shoes were probably in the shoe cabinet.
“I can…” Sang Ning wanted to say that she could help her, but Gu Yao closed the door.
She was locked out and stood at the top of the stairs, completely bewildered.
Lu Lin was also in the car that followed Gu Yao into the residential area.
He climbed the stairs, panting. “The stairs in this building are so hard to climb, why don’t we just go inside?”
There were only the two of them standing in the hallway.
The dim, warm light shone on Sang Ning’s face. She stood in the doorway, shrugging helplessly. “She said she could manage and told me to wait at the door. Maybe she’s already packed her luggage?”
I’m not sure, but if they don’t want her to go in, then I’ll respect their decision.
“Then why did I come up here?” Lu Lin asked, leaning on the handrail.
Sang Ning went downstairs, patted his shoulder, and leaned against the corner of the stairwell, with his back to the window, feeling the cold night wind. It was really cold.
“Why are you taking pictures of me? Did you wash your hands before you came out?” Lu Lin’s eyes were full of disgust.
As forensic doctors, we all have a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder when it comes to cleanliness.
“What’s it to you?” Sang Ning glared at him.
With Lu Lin by her side, Sang Ning didn’t feel bored at all.
Buzzing—
The phone vibrated twice. Sang Ning opened it and said, “Old Lu, with your physique, you should work out more. Remember last time when the elevator broke down and you couldn’t climb more than ten floors? Do you remember who helped you up there?”
“Brother, you’re the eldest brother, okay?” Lu Lin’s dark past was brought up.
Sang Ning frowned slightly when she saw that the message was from Gu Yao.
“Why can’t you just open the door and say something instead of sending a text message?” Lu Lin leaned closer.
“Shh.” Sang Ning made a shushing gesture.
She gestured, then turned off her phone’s vibration and asked Lu Lin to turn it off as well.
Gu Yao’s home was quiet, without any sounds of rummaging through drawers or cabinets.
Lu Lin took out his phone and sent a message to Sang Ning.
[Lu Lin: What’s going on?]
[Sang Ning: We’re talking too loudly; the neighbors will complain.]
[Lu Lin: …Are you kidding me?]
The two looked at each other, sending messages on their phones, and their appearance was somewhat amusing.
It wasn’t until Gu Yao cautiously opened the door and dragged out two large bags of luggage like a thief that I realized what was happening.
It wasn’t a suitcase, but rather extra-large bags for packing blankets; there were four large bags in total.
It was probably wrapped in clothes inside, so there was no jingling or clanging sound.
“Let’s go down,” Gu Yao said softly.
Lu Lin stepped forward and took one of the bags. His hand suddenly felt heavy, and he almost lost his balance and fell downstairs.
“Be careful.” Sang Ning grabbed Lu Lin’s arm.
Gu Yao looked at the remaining bag and said, “I’ll come back up to get it in a bit.”
Sang Ning ignored her, reached out and grabbed one end of the bag, carrying a large bag of luggage in one hand as she walked downstairs.
The two people standing in the stairwell were stunned.
They watched as Sang Ning carried two large bags downstairs without making a sound.
No one else moves like Gu Yao, acting like a thief.
Finally, after putting the luggage into the trunk and filling the back seat, Gu Yao breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness he’s not here. It’s alright now. Let’s go.”
She never wants to come to this place again in her life!
“Yaoyao, you’re back? Is that you, Yaoyao?”
A drunken voice came from behind the three people. Lu Lin was still leaning against the car, panting, and said that he needed to rest for a while before leaving.
