“Old Sang, did you see that kid again? Wasn’t he acting suspiciously?”

“What did you see?” Sang Ning frowned. “I’m not sure if I saw it wrong, but just now, he seemed to smile.”

Lu Lin’s eyes lit up. “That’s easy. We have surveillance cameras everywhere here. We can just take a look.”

As he spoke, he returned to his seat and retrieved the surveillance footage.

Sang Ning said helplessly, “Even if we laugh, it only means that Yao Xiuying raised an ungrateful son. The fact that a homeless man threw someone off the building and the marks under the victim’s nails prove that the murderer was a homeless man.”

“That’s fine. I just wanted to gossip about your landlord. You know, it’s really tough for you. So many problems just to rent a place. I told you earlier that you wanted to share a place with me, but you weren’t happy about it.” Lu Lin scoffed and continued checking the surveillance footage.

“Share a place?” Gu Yao stood up abruptly upon hearing this.

Lu Lin looked at her strangely: “Little brat, why are you reacting so strongly?”

Gu Yao looked at Sang Ning. This morning, she saw Sang Ning come out of her brother’s room and use the bathroom to wash up. She should be sharing an apartment with her brother now, how could she be sharing an apartment with another man!

No way, she wants this sister-in-law!

“Who wants to share an apartment with a rough old man like you? Our Sister Ning is so beautiful. What if you try to take advantage of her if she shares an apartment with you?”

Lu Lin pointed to himself, then to Sang Ning who was walking towards the dissection room, and laughed angrily, “Me? You think I would be interested in Sang Ning, who seems serious on the surface but is actually a manly guy behind the scenes?”

“Hey, watch your mouth.” Sang Ning glanced at the monitor.

The surveillance footage from the forensic lab isn’t something only they can view.

If that young man really has a problem, they won’t be the only ones looking to check the medical room’s surveillance footage.

“Alright, I’ll give you some face in the bureau.” Lu Lin pouted. “Little brat, let me tell you, even if all the women in the world died, I still wouldn’t like Old Sang, so don’t worry.”

Gu Yao couldn’t understand it, but considering their usual interactions, not just from a colleague’s perspective, and looking at what had just happened…

He was physically abusive; Lu Lin outwardly claimed to look down on Sister Ning, but who knows what he was really up to behind her back.

You better be!

Gu Yao turned her head away and looked at the neatly arranged skeletons on the dissection table, and immediately felt guilty. “Why didn’t you call me just now?”

She then realized that she had been back at the police station for quite some time, and there was so much work to do…

Upon looking at Sang Ning’s desk, he saw that Yao Xiuying’s autopsy report had already been written.

What has she been doing all day?!

“It’s alright, just send the autopsy report to Captain Gu for me,” Sang Ning said as she put on her protective suit.

Gu Yao immediately picked up the report and went out.

Lu Lin glanced at Gu Yao’s retreating figure, and only after the door closed did he say, “Old Sang, this little brat doesn’t belong here. Why did you bring her along?”

They can even make mistakes when handing over a tool.

“Her parents aren’t here. Anyone who can get into the police station must have a special skill. I want to see what her special skill is,” Sang Ning casually replied.

Lu Lin was still watching the surveillance footage. “After half a year of contact, have you discovered what their special skills are?”

Sang Ning looked at the location of the skull and torso, ignoring Lu Lin, and continued describing the condition of the skeleton dug out of the cement wall:

“Without the hyoid bone and finger bones, all the teeth in the mouth are gone.”

Lu Lin: “The tooth is gone. Was it lost at the scene? Or is it inside the cement wall? If it’s been there for a while, it might have fallen inside.”

Sang Ning’s expression was solemn. “The teeth were removed intentionally. There were no signs of healing in the alveolar bone area. They were removed after death.”

“Found it!” Lu Lin’s eyes lit up. “Old Sang, is it because I’m nearsighted that I can’t see it clearly? How did you see it? You were able to catch such a small change in the curve of the corner of his mouth. You’re amazing.”

Sang Ning didn’t answer, but instead examined the skull and mouth area, “There seems to be something inside…”

She picked up a tool from the side and slowly pinched out a tiny, sand-like, reflective metallic particle.

I carefully placed it aside and quickly used the testing equipment, even breathing became very careful, for fear that such a small thing would be blown away.

Seeing this, Lu Lin didn’t dare to say anything more.

Until the Sangning test is completed.

“What did you find?”

Lu Lin leaned forward and looked at the empty evidence bag. He looked left and right before finally spotting an extremely tiny object with a slight reflection.

“Are you wearing magnifying glasses? Can I borrow them?” Lu Lin said, feeling jealous.

Sang Ning ignored him, saying, “It looks like a fragment of tungsten steel.”

Regarding oral health, it seems she needs to ask her senior colleague who is a dentist.

Because the particles she found were too small, she decided to wait until after get off work to take the actual samples to her senior colleague to see.

The next step is to examine the missing hyoid bone.

She’s the kind of person who, once she makes a new discovery, will stop the autopsy and examine the clues found on the body.

This is crucial for the criminal investigation team to solve the case.

By the time she finished her test, Gu Yao had been waiting outside for a long time. She wanted to ask Sang Ning what she wanted to eat for dinner so she could go out and buy it, prepared to work overtime.

Lu Lin was also waiting, eager to hear about the landlord’s family’s affairs.

On the way back and forth, I also went to the technical department and chatted with Shen Chen for a while.

The newcomer Shen Chen was right up his alley; the two hit it off immediately and chatted for the entire afternoon.

Sang Ning glanced at the time. “It’s already so late.”

7 PM.

She changed out of her protective suit and saw two other people in the forensic room staring at her with shining eyes.

Sang Ning washed her hands, then patted her cheeks, asking in confusion, “Is there something on my face?”

“Old Sang, without you in this police station, the efficiency of solving cases would be halved!” Lu Lin said with emotion.

Gu Yao nodded repeatedly, looking at Sang Ning with admiration.

She watched the surveillance footage, but she didn’t notice the subtle expressions on the young man’s face at all.

“Sister Ning, I’ve always been curious, did you study psychology? Like micro-expression management or something?”

Sang Ning twitched her lips. “I’ve known a little about psychology, but I haven’t studied it in detail, so I wasn’t mistaken at the time; that man did smile.”

Lu Lin gave a thumbs up, “More than that, after investigation, it turns out this guy isn’t even the biological son. No wonder that woman’s assets all ended up being his.”

Even if he was an adopted son, Yao Xiuying had severed ties with her relatives early on, so he was basically the first in line to inherit the family business.

It is unknown whether Yao Xiuying made a will before her death.

“I wonder if that middle-aged man and the landlady have registered their marriage. If their relationship is legal, then that middle-aged man will inherit her estate,” Sang Ning said casually, her fingers rapidly tapping on the keyboard.

“Speaking of this man, he’s really going all out for money, tsk.” Lu Lin sighed, “Even if I had to sleep on the streets, I wouldn’t want to date any rich woman. Some rich women have weird tastes.”
