As soon as Sang Ning and Gu Yezhou arrived upstairs, they were led to the reception room by the secretary.

A quarter of an hour passed while they waited.

“Isn’t Lin Zedong a bit too arrogant?” Sang Ning didn’t like waiting for people, and she especially didn’t like waiting for suspects.

Gu Yezhou picked up a comic book in the reception room and started reading, his gaze landing on the author’s name at the end.

“It seems that President Lin is ready.”

Sang Ning turned her head to look at him. “What do you mean?”

Seeing Gu Yezhou flipping through a comic book, and coincidentally, the female protagonist on that page had the same face as her.

Sang Ning got up and walked over to him, moving closer.

The soft strands of hair brushed against Gu Yezhou’s rolled-up sleeves, causing a slight itch. He looked down at the woman’s smooth hair, so small, as if it could be worn as an accessory at any time.

“Isn’t this Shi Li’s comic? Lin Zedong put it here?” Sang Ning felt something was off. “If this case is really related to Lin Zedong, shouldn’t he have destroyed all items related to Shi Li?”

This is clearly telling them that Shi Li has connections with the Lin Group.

“It’s just a comic book, it doesn’t prove anything.” Gu Yezhou’s voice became gentler.

As the two were talking, the door to the reception room was opened.

The woman who walked in was Lin Zedong’s secretary. She was tall and had a serious expression. “You two have been waiting for a while. Mr. Lin would like to invite you to sit in a coffee shop. Is that alright?”

Gu Yezhou and Sang Ning naturally had no objections.

The coffee shop is the one that Sang Ning saw downstairs just now.

There were hardly any people in the coffee shop when we arrived, except for one seat with two cups of coffee on it, which the waiter hadn’t cleared away yet.

The two chose to sit by the window.

“President Lin will arrive in about five minutes.”

The female secretary stood aside and ordered a coffee for each of them, including Lin Zedong’s.

She handled things in an orderly manner. During the call, she received a phone call about Lin Zedong’s schedule. The secretary couldn’t make the decision, and the final reply was that she had to ask Mr. Lin for his opinion.

Gu Yezhou asked, “Is President Lin going on a business trip in the next couple of days?”

The female secretary nodded in response, “Yes, we were supposed to go last week, but something came up and we kept postponing it.”

“Could you ask him what caused the delay?” Sang Ning asked.

Last week? Sang Ning had the opportunity to meet Lin Zedong once. At that time, he looked somewhat anxious, and Sang Ning assumed that he was under too much pressure at work and had been scolded by his boss.

It turns out it was something that was bothering him, something that happened to his own company.

The female secretary smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry, we have no right to inquire about Mr. Lin’s private matters. You can wait until Mr. Lin arrives to find out.”

Sang Ning expressed her understanding, but noticed that the female secretary had been checking the time ever since they entered the elevator. She asked curiously, “If you have other things to do, you can go ahead and do them. You don’t need to wait with us.”

Being a working person is really tough.

The female secretary realized that her little trick had been discovered, her expression froze for a moment, but she quickly recovered.

“I’m sorry to have made you laugh. I need to be by Mr. Lin’s side at all times. He will be back soon. I will listen in on whatever the two officers ask in a moment.”

At the same time, he put on a polite smile and said, “If it is detrimental to the Lin Group, I will arrange a lawyer for President Lin in advance.”

Gu Yezhou looked her over. “You’re quite direct.”

The female secretary nodded, looked towards the entrance of the coffee shop, and upon seeing that familiar figure, immediately stepped forward to greet him.

Just then, the waiter brought over the coffee, and Sang Ning asked, “The coffee on this table hasn’t been cleared away. Is that customer coming back?”

The waiter glanced at it and said, “No, we haven’t had time to clean it up yet.”

It seems she was overthinking it.

When Lin Zedong walked up to Sang Ning, he suddenly said, “I apologize to you on behalf of my brother. I heard that you were supposed to get your marriage certificate yesterday, but he got drunk and didn’t show up. I will definitely discipline him properly when we get back.”

“Mr. Lin, I’m not here to discuss personal matters with you.”

Sang Ning casually picked up her coffee and took a sip; the bitterness made her brow furrow slightly.

“Not used to it?” Lin Zedong thoughtfully called over the staff and students, “Get this lady a different glass of lemonade.”

“President Lin, don’t pretend we’re very close,” Sang Ning said unhappily.

Lin Zedong disagreed, “If you and my brother got your marriage certificate yesterday, you’re still my brother’s wife. What’s wrong with showing concern for family?”

The female secretary next to her glanced at Sang Ning without making a sound, and then quickly started writing something on the tablet.

Since she came out, her hands have never left the tablet.

Gu Yezhou said in a deep voice, “President Lin, where will you be at 10 PM on the 9th?”

Before Lin Zedong could answer, the female secretary next to him spoke first: “President Lin was in a meeting at 10 pm on the 9th. There was an urgent project at the time. All the staff in the meeting room can testify to that.”

Gu Yezhou: “What time will the meeting end?”

Female secretary: “It was 11:30 p.m., and then I drove Mr. Lin home, around midnight.”

“Your secretary is certainly responsible.” Sang Ning looked at Lin Zedong. “After getting home, Mr. Lin just washed up and went to bed? Did he go out?”

Lin Zedong asked in confusion, “Of course you should rest after getting off work and going home. How could you possibly go out?”

Gu Yezhou: “Who can prove this?”

Lin Zedong laughed in exasperation, “I live in my own home, do I need someone to vouch for me when I sleep at night? Officer, isn’t your alibi request a bit far-fetched?”

Seeing that Lin Zedong was getting angry, the female secretary next to him said considerately, “Mr. Lin’s home has surveillance cameras.”

When the surveillance cameras were mentioned, a subtle change flashed across Lin Zedong’s face.

This small change went unnoticed by anyone.

He silently picked up his coffee and took two sips. “Since the officer wants to see the surveillance video of me sleeping in an indecent manner, then so be it.”

Lin Zedong nodded to his female secretary, “Is my home surveillance camera connected to this tablet?”

“It’s connected.” The female secretary placed the tablet in the center of the table. “Mr. Lin’s house has many surveillance cameras covering a wide area. At night… they should be in the master bedroom, right?”

She tentatively asked Lin Zedong.

Lin Zedong said with a smile, “Sometimes I’ll just spend the night in the study.”

Next, after checking the surveillance footage of the study and bedroom, it was found that there was only footage of the time when the person entered the house last night. The footage of the period from the night of the 9th to the daytime of the 10th was completely black.

For a moment, all four of them fell silent.

Lin Zedong said awkwardly, “I don’t know why it’s been dark these past two nights. My secretary can vouch for me; she was the one who took me home that night.”

The female secretary nodded, her fingertips swiping rapidly across the screen. She quickly found the notes below the president’s schedule for the day, breathed a sigh of relief, and smiled, saying:

“Perhaps Mr. Lin was too busy and tired to remember, but before the meeting on the 9th, at 4 pm, he asked me to contact a repairman. The surveillance camera in Mr. Lin’s home has been broken for more than half a month, and no repairman has come after I reported it. I have followed up on this matter.”

“Is that so?” Lin Zedong looked at the tablet suspiciously; clearly, he himself didn’t remember it
