- Starting with a Breakup: Why Is the True Heiress My Possessive Ex?
- Chapter 33 - A Silent Ride to the Top
The moment they noticed the employee dressed in pink, both Xu Nian and Su Qingya’s hearts skipped a beat.
A pink uniform.
That meant the woman was almost certainly connected to a Fluxbeast.
Getting onto the Ferris wheel clearly wouldn’t be easy.
“Nian Nian.”
“Are we still going?”
“Of course.”
Xu Nian answered without hesitation.
“As long as we can confirm there isn’t any unavoidable danger, we have to ride it.”
Su Qingya blinked.
She hadn’t expected Xu Nian to be so determined.
Couldn’t they simply give up?
Still, she chose not to argue.
Instead, she asked another question.
“Then…”
“What does the Pink Pathway represent?”
“We’ll have to judge from her behavior.”
Xu Nian watched the employee enthusiastically introducing the attraction.
“She keeps talking about romance and couples.”
“If I had to guess…”
“It should be connected to love.”
“Then it’s probably the Love Pathway.”
Su Qingya quietly explained.
“Love is one of humanity’s most fundamental emotions.”
“It can refer to romantic affection.”
“Or family bonds.”
“They’re all different expressions of the same emotion.”
Love.
It didn’t sound particularly dangerous.
Could there really be benevolent Fluxbeasts?
Creatures born from love itself?
Probably not.
Once any emotion reached an extreme…
It was bound to become distorted.
And when emotions distorted…
They inevitably affected everyone around them.
“Nian Nian.”
“Do you remember the rule?”
Su Qingya lowered her voice.
“It says riding the Ferris wheel itself shouldn’t be dangerous.”
“But once we’re inside…”
“We absolutely cannot speak.”
Xu Nian froze.
If she couldn’t speak…
Then how was she supposed to sing?
She had been planning to complete today’s task by singing a love song for Su Qingya inside the Ferris wheel cabin.
That was the only way to earn another simulation opportunity.
She immediately took out the ticket and reread the rule.
Perhaps…
Speaking would trigger the Love Fluxbeast’s ability.
Laughter, however, seemed exempt.
Maybe because laughter belonged to the Cheerfulness Pathway, creating some kind of conflict between abilities.
But singing through laughter?
That sounded absurd.
Still…
“I understand.”
Seeing Xu Nian agree, Su Qingya finally relaxed.
The queue was long.
Fortunately, it moved quickly.
Wave after wave of passengers boarded and disembarked.
Barely ten minutes later, it was finally their turn.
“Just the two of you?”
The pink-clad employee smiled brightly.
“Yes.”
“Only us.”
Su Qingya tightened her grip around Xu Nian’s hand.
Over the past ten minutes, she had noticed something.
The employee seemed to enjoy splitting up groups who arrived together.
Almost as though separating people brought her some strange satisfaction.
Or perhaps…
Helped the Love Fluxbeast gather emotional energy.
“I understand.”
The employee gestured politely.
“Please come this way.”
An ordinary visitor would likely have followed without question.
But Su Qingya had been carefully observing everyone around her.
Every pair forced into sharing a cabin with strangers appeared noticeably more intimate after the ride.
Even complete strangers.
Was simply talking enough to produce that result?
Or was something else happening inside?
No one knew.
Being cautious was never wrong.
Su Qingya deliberately slowed her pace.
Keeping Xu Nian firmly at her side, she refused to separate.
Instead, she waited for the current group ahead of them to board.
“Miss.”
“Please hurry.”
“There are many people waiting behind you.”
“Don’t delay everyone else.”
Su Qingya pretended not to hear.
She blocked the entrance without moving.
When the employee reached out to guide her forward—
An invisible barrier suddenly repelled the touch.
The woman jerked her hand back as though shocked.
At the same time, the fear field surrounding Su Qingya unintentionally spread outward.
People nearby instinctively stopped approaching.
A strange empty circle formed around the two girls.
Xu Nian quietly watched everything unfold.
Eventually, after another cabin returned, Su Qingya finally led her inside.
Once again, the employee tried to separate them.
Once again, the barrier pushed her back.
The bright smile on the woman’s face slowly faded.
“She’s with me.”
Su Qingya said coldly.
“And I have no interest in sharing a cabin with strangers.”
The employee could only nod awkwardly.
After witnessing the invisible force surrounding Su Qingya…
Even if she wanted to force additional passengers inside, few would dare approach.
Protected so firmly in Su Qingya’s embrace, Xu Nian suddenly felt her heart flutter.
This is bad.
She’s acting far too dependable.
Shouldn’t I be the one looking this cool?
Just as she was about to say something—
Su Qingya pinched her lips shut with two fingers.
Only then did Xu Nian realize…
The cabin door had already closed.
They were officially riding the Ferris wheel.
Speaking now was forbidden.
She obediently nodded.
Only then did Su Qingya release her and motion for her to sit nearby.
Silence filled the cabin.
Despite having such a private space to themselves, neither girl dared make unnecessary movements.
Both worried that even the slightest distraction might cause the other to accidentally speak.
But Xu Nian still had a mission to complete.
She had to sing.
As the ride slowly climbed higher, Su Qingya remained alert.
Her gaze repeatedly drifted toward Xu Nian’s mouth.
Fear heightened her awareness so much that hardly any detail escaped her notice.
When they were nearly at the highest point…
Xu Nian quietly slipped free from Su Qingya’s side and moved to the opposite seat.
Su Qingya blinked in confusion.
She had no idea what Xu Nian intended to do.
Xu Nian simply smiled.
A silent grin.
She couldn’t risk making a sound.
The instant she parted her lips slightly—
Su Qingya reacted.
Without warning, she leaned forward and covered Xu Nian’s mouth with a firm kiss.
She held her there tightly, refusing to allow even the slightest chance for words to escape.
Xu Nian tried to retreat.
She couldn’t.
One of Su Qingya’s arms circled securely around her slender waist.
The other rested behind her neck, gently but firmly preventing her from pulling away.
There was almost no room to move.
Xu Nian’s legs immediately weakened.
What is she doing?
Why did she suddenly kiss me?
And why is she so determined about it?
Her fluffy fox tail stood straight up.
Every strand of fur puffed out from sheer surprise.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the Ferris wheel approaching its highest point.
If things continued like this…
She would miss her chance to trigger the simulation reward.
No.
She had to do something.
At least her hands were still free.
Slowly, she rested one hand against Su Qingya’s lower back, her movement gentle enough to seem almost welcoming.
Then—
Without warning—
She grabbed a small pinch of flesh and twisted it sharply.
