- Chapter 23 - The Mystery of Xu Nian’s Star Mark
“I-I think the next time we shower together… we should keep our hands to ourselves a little more.”
“I-I think you’re right.”
Sitting on the bed, Su Qingya held a hair dryer as she carefully dried Xu Nian’s damp hair.
Both of their faces were slightly flushed, though whether it was from the hot shower or something else was anyone’s guess.
Besides her long hair, Xu Nian’s fluffy fox tail also needed to be dried.
After blowing it with warm air and brushing it thoroughly, the tail became especially soft and fluffy.
Su Qingya hugged it and rubbed her face against it with obvious satisfaction.
This fox tail was far more comfortable than any plush toy.
She liked it very much.
Xu Nian paid no attention to the strange things Su Qingya was doing behind her.
Instead, she was busy looking through her phone and planning tomorrow’s date.
“It looks like a new amusement park just opened. Should we check it out tomorrow?”
“Which one?”
Su Qingya stepped over Xu Nian and leaned against her back, wrapping one arm around her waist while peering over her shoulder.
From this angle, she could easily read the information on the screen while catching the faint fragrance lingering around Xu Nian.
“It just opened recently. It’s different from the one we visited before. The reviews seem pretty good. Want to give it a try?”
“Does it have a haunted house?”
“Yes.”
“Then that’s fine.”
After all, she had already promised.
“All my time tomorrow belongs to you.”
As she spoke, Su Qingya lightly rubbed her cheek against Xu Nian’s neck.
The touch tickled.
Xu Nian’s fox ears twitched instinctively.
“O-Okay.”
“Then it’s settled.”
After saying that, Xu Nian continued reading about the amusement park.
Suddenly, Su Qingya spoke again.
“Nian Nian… I think I’ve figured out where your star mark is.”
“Where?”
Su Qingya lightly patted Xu Nian’s backside.
Thump.
It bounced like pudding.
The fluffy fox tail immediately swatted the troublesome hand away.
“Why are you patting me there? So where is my star?”
Su Qingya patted it once more.
The fox tail swung back and forth before gradually stopping.
Xu Nian suddenly turned around, disbelief written all over her face.
“Don’t tell me…”
“It’s on my butt?”
“There’s good news and bad news.”
“Which one do you want to hear first?”
“What’s the good news?”
“The good news is that it isn’t on your butt.”
“And the bad news?”
“It’s below the base of your tail.”
“I’m just not sure which direction it’ll develop in later.”
“The base of my tail?”
Xu Nian instinctively reached back to touch the spot.
That was roughly where her tail connected to the end of her spine.
If it really extended downward…
“Ahhh! Why?!”
No matter how she looked at it, that was an incredibly awkward place.
“Nian Nian.”
“Do you remember what happened when you first awakened as a Fluxweaver?”
“I remember.”
“I accidentally sat on my own tail…”
“And then?”
“That’s probably the reason.”
Su Qingya pointed at herself.
“Generally speaking, star marks seem likely to appear where the body experiences pressure during awakening.”
Then she pointed toward her chest.
“When I awakened, the knife happened to stab me right here.”
“Really?”
“It really did.”
“I meant the theory you just came up with.”
“I guessed.”
“You guessed pretty well.”
“Please don’t guess next time.”
“Ah…”
Su Qingya pouted slightly.
Seeing the disappointment hidden in her expression, Xu Nian couldn’t help smiling.
She reached out and gently touched the position of Su Qingya’s star mark.
“Did it hurt back then?”
“It hurt a lot.”
Su Qingya answered honestly.
Unlike Xu Nian, she never tried to act tough.
Xu Nian gently blew on the spot.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“It’ll fly away.”
“It’ll all fly away.”
Su Qingya blinked.
“Why does that sound like you’re comforting a child?”
“Can’t you think of something more grown-up?”
Xu Nian looked at her suspiciously.
“Why have you become so aggressive lately?”
[Fear Value: 45%]
Looking at the scarlet words floating above Xu Nian’s head, Su Qingya smiled mysteriously.
“Because…”
“After almost losing you, then getting you back…”
“I realized I love you even more now.”
Xu Nian leaned against Su Qingya’s chest, her face turning bright red.
“What a cheesy line.”
“Really?”
“Why does it make me sound like some kind of pervert?”
“You already are one.”
“You perverted scrub.”
“Okay.”
Su Qingya accepted the accusation without argument.
Then she wrapped an arm around Xu Nian’s waist.
“So…”
“Where’s my reward?”
Xu Nian’s tail flicked lightly.
Her beautiful fox eyes narrowed into crescents as she softly comforted the old wound that had long since healed.
After repeating the gesture several times, she looked up.
“Satisfied now?”
Su Qingya stared at her for a moment.
“How am I supposed to resist wanting to gobble you up?”
The next instant, Xu Nian found herself pinned beneath her.
Silver-white hair intertwined with Su Qingya’s dark locks, spreading across the bed like flowing silk.
Xu Nian’s fox ears burned crimson.
Her cheeks were equally flushed as she shyly turned her head aside, unable to meet Su Qingya’s eyes directly.
“By the way…”
“Where did you hide that Holy Sword I bought earlier?”
“Get lost!”
“That’s not fair.”
“You’ve already used it.”
“Now let me use it too.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Nian Nian.”
“Please?”
“No.”
If Su Qingya wanted to use it herself, Xu Nian certainly wouldn’t interfere.
But judging from the tone of her voice…
She clearly meant using it on Xu Nian.
Absolutely not.
Just imagining it made her ears burn.
“Pfft.”
“Scrub.”
“Can’t you manage without it?”
“…Ah.”
That single sentence successfully provoked Su Qingya.
A certain mischievous little fox was immediately taught a lesson.
“Ah! Help!”
“No!”
“I was wrong!”
Early the next morning, the two girls took a taxi to the amusement park.
As usual, Xu Nian, who was prone to motion sickness, leaned against Su Qingya’s shoulder throughout the ride.
She could drive perfectly well herself.
Oddly enough, driving never made her sick.
Only riding as a passenger did.
[Ding! Today’s task has been released.]
[To deepen your relationship with your girlfriend, please sing a love song to her at the highest point of the Ferris wheel.]
Xu Nian’s expression froze.
This was practically a social death sentence.
Riding the Ferris wheel was fine.
But singing?
Absolutely impossible.
Oddly enough, speaking in front of a crowd didn’t bother her.
Yet singing in public felt more embarrassing than anything else.
Perhaps it was some kind of strange psychological condition.
“Nian Nian.”
“I bought the tickets.”
There were quite a few people waiting in line.
Su Qingya had asked Xu Nian to rest in the shade while she went to purchase them.
Strangely, despite online ticketing being common these days, the amusement park still used paper tickets.
“Thanks for your hard work.”
Xu Nian wiped the sweat from Su Qingya’s forehead with a towel before personally handing her a bottle of water.
The weather was still rather hot.
Standing under the shade to cool off, Xu Nian casually looked over the paper ticket in her hand.
The front displayed a map of the amusement park.
The back, however, was filled with densely packed text.
