Looking at it this way, marriage seems like a really good idea!

Chen Wan breathed a sigh of relief; nothing was more important than making her family happy!

Zhou Wenshan stayed there for a while, and considering that Chen Wan might have a lot to say to her family today, he took the initiative to say goodbye!

“Uncle, Aunt, I’ll go home now. Let Chen Wan talk to you at home for a while. I’ll come back to pick her up this afternoon!”

Chen Wan froze. Was she really going to move in with them?

However, they didn’t say anything. Now that they’ve already obtained their marriage certificate, they’re a real married couple, recognized by national law, so living together is only natural!

Chen Bowen looked at Zhou Wenshan, this young man whom he had only met a few times, and now he had become his son-in-law!

Her expression softened a bit. “Alright, Wenshan, you can come pick her up later. Given our current situation, let’s keep everything simple. We don’t need to go through any wedding formalities!”

Zhou Wenshan happily agreed, “Okay, Uncle and Aunt, I’ll come pick up Xiaowan before dinner!”

After saying that, he stuffed something into Chen Wan’s hand, “This is for you!”

Then he greeted Chen Wan’s two older brothers, said goodbye to the three children, and happily rode away on his bicycle!

Chen Wan stretched out her hand, and a pretty plastic hair clip was lying in her palm!

…

After leaving, Zhou Wenshan felt a pang of regret. Why did he call them “uncle” and “aunt”? They’ve already gotten their marriage certificate; he should be calling them “Mom and Dad” now.

It’s okay, I’ll change my address when I pick up Chen Wan at the party.

Before he even reached his doorstep, Zhou Wenshan saw Zhao Xiuhua standing alone on the road.

The smile on his face immediately faded. Neither he nor the original owner could feel any goodwill towards Zhao Xiuhua now!

He rode his bicycle away without paying any attention to Zhao Xiuhua or knowing who she was waiting for.

Unexpectedly, Zhao Xiuhua called out to him, “Zhou Wenshan, you stop right there!”

Zhou Wenshan ignored her and started riding his bicycle forward.

Seeing that she didn’t stop, Zhao Xiuhua stomped her foot, ran a few steps to catch up with Zhou Wenshan, and grabbed the back of the bicycle!

The bicycle was immediately stopped by Zhao Xiuhua. Zhou Wenshan turned around and looked at Zhao Xiuhua, angrily saying, “Zhao Xiuhua, what are you doing?”

Zhao Xiuhua said aggrievedly, “Zhou Wenshan, are you with that capitalist’s daughter now? Why aren’t you as nice to me as before? You weren’t like this before!”

Zhou Wenshan was so angry he laughed. Sure enough, there’s no shortage of brainless hypocrites in any era.

Looking at Zhao Xiuhua, Zhou Wenshan said expressionlessly, “Zhao Xiuhua, firstly, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. The engagement has been called off, have you forgotten? My affairs are none of your business! Secondly, does your fiancé, that educated youth named Li Ming, know that you’re blocking my way here? Don’t contact me unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s best if you pretend you don’t know me when you see me again!”

Then he growled at Zhao Xiuhua in a low voice, “Let go!”

Zhao Xiuhua was startled by Zhou Wenshan’s expression and involuntarily let go of his hand.

Zhou Wenshan turned his head away without any hesitation, and rode off on his bicycle, leaving Zhao Xiuhua standing there stunned for a moment before running home with red eyes!

My good mood was slightly ruined by this brainless woman!

Zhou Wenshan was depressed for a few minutes but then his mood improved. Chen Wan came over that evening, and he needed to tidy up the house properly!

…

Chen Wan bought some things from town and left them at home: steamed egg cakes, milk candy and fruit candy, brown sugar, two pounds of pork belly, and ten large meat buns!

Basically, everything is left here!

The three children each had a sweet milk candy in their mouths, a big meat bun in each hand, and their eyes were fixed on the sponge cake!

They’ve been craving it so much lately!

Today is the happiest day for them in over a month. All these things were bought by that handsome uncle!

They all liked their uncle very much; he was handsome and would buy them delicious food!

At home, Chen Wan was pulled aside by her mother and secretly given some instructions!

“Wan’er, even though you’re getting married today, given our family’s current situation, we can’t afford a grand banquet. We can only ask you to marry into this family without even a decent dowry!”

Zhang Shuya sighed heavily at this point, “If we have a chance to make a comeback in the future, or if we are exonerated, we will double the dowry we owe you!”

Chen Wan shook her head. “Mom, I don’t feel wronged at all. I think Zhou Wenshan is actually a good person. Marrying him might not be a bad thing for me, and it might even be the right choice! I don’t ask for anything else, I just hope that you, Dad, and our whole family are all doing well!”

Zhang Shuya couldn’t help but hug Chen Wan, choking back tears as she said, “Wan’er, my good child!”

…

When Zhou Wenshan returned home, he saw Liu Cuihua cleaning his house and his sister-in-law Zhang Minghui putting up double happiness characters on the windows. The house was much cleaner than usual!

The atmosphere was more festive than usual. Although Zhou Wenshan was getting married, they didn’t plan to hold a banquet because of Chen Wan’s family background. Instead, they had a meal with their own family behind closed doors.

But the basic things that should be there still need to be there!

The family provided new blankets, a thermos, new toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as a new washbasin and spittoon…

Their family is small, with no relatives.

Zhou Yuanchao and Liu Cuihua were both orphans from a young age, losing their homes when they were quite young. They met and, sharing the same plight, Zhou Yuanchao took Liu Cuihua with him to beg for food, and they grew up together, stumbling and struggling.

Zhou Yuanchao was three years older than Liu Cuihua, and he had always taken care of her. It could be said that if it weren’t for Zhou Yuanchao, Liu Cuihua might have died long ago!

Therefore, Liu Cuihua always listened to Zhou Yuanchao and they never argued. The two had a deep and sincere relationship!

So there are no grandparents, uncles, or other relatives!

Zhang Minghui is in a similar situation. She lost both her parents when she was young and lived with her grandparents. A few years ago, her grandparents also passed away one after another. Then she married her junior high school classmate Zhou Wenhai, and the two had a very good relationship!

Furthermore, there was no discord between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in their family. Although Zhou Wenhai and Zhang Minghui were usually well-behaved and obedient, it was because they respected Zhou Yuanchao and his wife!

No other family would have agreed to let Zhou Wenshan marry Chen Wan!

What Zhou Wenshan doesn’t know is that Zhou Yuanchao has already resigned from his job as militia captain in order to marry Chen Wan!
