My Best Bro Got Bullied by Another Bad Woman Again - Chapter 1
“I’ve got a mission for the next few days, so I won’t be coming home.”
Sun Du glanced at the message on his phone and let out a quiet sigh. It was from Lu Xiaoxiao. Ever since his best friend had become a magical girl, disappearing for days at a time had become almost routine.
Sun Du was a twenty-two-year-old college student with brown hair, black eyes, and an appearance so ordinary that few people would remember him after a glance. An orphan with no family to rely on, he lived comfortably enough thanks to some savings and owned a spacious three-bedroom apartment.
His childhood friend, Lu Xiaoxiao, was another story entirely.
Snow-white hair, ruby-red eyes, flawless pale skin, and a face delicate enough to make anyone mistake him for a beautiful girl at first sight. In reality, though, he was very much a man—just one blessed with an unusually feminine appearance. The two had grown up together and still shared the same home.
It had been over a month since Lu Xiaoxiao awakened as a magical girl. Exactly how it happened remained a mystery to Sun Du; he had only learned the truth after noticing the strange necklace his friend wore and pressing him for answers.
Magical girls were celebrated as the protectors of humanity, standing against waves of monstrous invasions for decades. Wanting to defend others after gaining such power made perfect sense to Sun Du. Being surrounded by other magical girls? He understood that too.
The problem was the injuries.
Lu Xiaoxiao had already returned home hurt more than once.
Sun Du decided he had to check on him personally. Not just because of the monsters—but because of an even greater concern.
“There are dangerous women everywhere! If you’re too innocent, one of them might demand an outrageous bride price, divorce you the very next day, and walk away with half your fortune. If you refuse, she’ll cheat on you anyway! I even heard the laws have changed so you can’t leave a cheating spouse with nothing!”
The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became.
For the sake of his precious brother’s future happiness, he had to go.
Even if he was only an ordinary person, years of training meant he could at least defend himself against a first-tier evil creature.
…
“Little Sister Xiao, are you alright?”
“I’m okay… just a little exhausted.”
“I’m sorry. This was my fault. I never expected a second-tier evil creature to appear here.”
“It’s not your fault, Sister Liu. This isn’t even inside a safe zone. No one can guarantee only first-tier monsters will show up. Besides, you already saved me, didn’t you? Please stop blaming yourself.”
“Sister Xiao…”
Deeply moved, Liu Nuanyu hugged the petite girl tightly.
Just then, the nearby bushes rustled.
“Who’s there?!”
“U-Um… I’m not a bad person! Please don’t attack!”
Sun Du stepped out from the foliage carrying an absurd amount of equipment.
An assault rifle rested in his hands, grenades hung from his belt, explosives were strapped across his back, a helmet sat firmly on his head, a bulletproof vest covered his chest, and a frying pan dangled awkwardly at his waist.
“Who are you? How did you even get in here?”
“I have some qualifications, so the guards let me pass. They even shoved all this gear into my hands and pointed me toward my friend’s location. Anyway… are you both alright?”
“We’re fine, but someone like you—a normal civilian—shouldn’t be…”
Before Liu Nuanyu could finish speaking, the girl in her embrace suddenly rushed toward Sun Du.
“Governor Sun!”
The familiar voice filled him with joy.
Even if it sounded softer and sweeter than before, that title could only belong to his brother.
Then he looked down.
The tiny girl barely reached his chest.
His mind froze.
There was no way his brother had always been this short.
“Y-You are…”
“It’s me, Lu Xiaoxiao!”
“Xiaoxiao?”
Sun Du slowly crouched down.
The silver-white hair shimmered brilliantly beneath the light.
The crimson eyes sparkled like precious gems.
Her skin looked flawless, smooth as polished jade, and her petite frame possessed an almost unreal elegance.
Everything matched…
Except the height.
“Is now really the time to be emotional?”
Liu Nuanyu’s voice snapped him back to reality.
He turned to look at her.
“You…”
Instinctively, Liu Nuanyu took half a step backward.
Seeing this suspicious-looking man stare at her adorable little sister made her uncomfortable. The way his eyes examined her only strengthened her first impression.
Another shameless pervert.
Sun Du, meanwhile, had entirely different thoughts.
He nodded thoughtfully.
Red hair blazing like flames.
Golden eyes full of spirit.
An attractive figure accentuated by black stockings.
Beautiful, intimidating, and carrying herself with confidence.
A good girl.
Though she definitely seemed hot-tempered.
“What’s with that look?!”
Liu Nuanyu’s irritation only grew stronger.
At first she thought she was overthinking things, but now she was certain.
Why was this man sizing up someone else’s future wife like an overprotective father?
“Come on. Let’s head back.”
Calm down.
He’s just an ordinary civilian.
After today, she probably wouldn’t have to deal with him again.
With that thought, her mood improved enough for conversation as they walked toward the safe zone.
“So… are you a genetic warrior?”
“No.”
“You’re not? Then what made you think coming here was a good idea?”
“These monsters don’t seem that overwhelming. Guns can handle them, can’t they? Besides, I know a little martial arts and a few magic tricks, so I should be able to protect myself.”
“A little?”
Liu Nuanyu could only laugh.
In her eyes, Sun Du was exactly the kind of stubborn fool who refused to acknowledge reality until disaster struck.
Even after she explained how terrifying evil creatures truly were, he remained completely unconvinced.
Ironically, what Sun Du said wasn’t wrong.
Given enough equipment, an ordinary person really could eliminate monsters of this level.
But that wasn’t the issue.
Liu Nuanyu wanted uninterrupted time alone with Lu Xiaoxiao.
How could she let this outsider tag along?
“No. He needs to understand the difference between us.”
After making up her mind, she found a small table and two stools once they reached the safe zone.
Taking one seat, she gestured confidently.
“How about an arm-wrestling match? I’ll let you experience the strength of a third-tier magical girl firsthand. Don’t worry—I’ll hold back.”
“Perfect! I’ve always wanted to measure myself against a real magical girl.”
Sun Du accepted without hesitation and sat across from her.
“Governor Sun…”
Lu Xiaoxiao looked worried.
Before transforming, Sun Du could still overpower him.
But now things were different.
“Relax, Xiaoxiao. I know I’m not going to win. There’s no harm in trying.”
His easygoing attitude earned a little respect from Liu Nuanyu.
At least he had courage.
“Then you can referee, Xiao-mei.”
Inwardly, she smiled.
This would be the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the overwhelming gap between them.
“O-Okay… Ready?”
“Three…”
“Two…”
Their gazes met.
The invisible clash of determination felt like steel colliding with fire.
Only one could emerge victorious.
“One…”
“Begin!”
Bang!
The contest ended in an instant.
Silence fell over everyone present.
Liu Nuanyu slowly looked at the table.
Then at Sun Du.
Then back at the table again.
There was no mistake.
She was the one whose hand had been slammed flat.
Sun Du still sat calmly opposite her.
Her mind blanked.
Wait.
Something wasn’t right.
Wasn’t she supposed to crush him effortlessly?
How had the exact opposite happened?
