Time passed quickly, and before anyone realized it, the afternoon sun was already hanging low in the sky.

With the warmth of early summer settling over the city, Yuichi, Chiba, and Lucifer walked together through the bustling streets.

After remaining silent for a while, Lucifer suddenly turned to Chiba.

“My Lady, forgive my impertinence, but I have a question.”

He spoke respectfully while carrying a thick stack of banknotes whose origin was, at best, highly questionable.

“Have you already found a place to stay?”

Chiba blinked.

“…I’m currently living at Yuichi’s apartment.”

She answered honestly.

“Is there a problem with that?”

The moment those words left her mouth, Lucifer’s expression changed dramatically.

“Absolutely not!”

He stepped forward in alarm.

“My Lady, you are a noblewoman! How can you possibly live under the same roof as a human male in the prime of his youth?”

“It’s far too dangerous!”

Walking ahead of them, Yuichi felt the corner of his mouth twitch.

Hey!

Don’t drag me into this!

I haven’t done anything!

The complaints rose all the way to his throat before he forcibly swallowed them back down.

After all…

Openly arguing with a Demon Grand Marshal didn’t seem like a healthy life choice.

To Yuichi’s surprise, Chiba immediately defended him.

“What exactly are you worried about, Lucifer?”

“He is merely a human.”

“There’s no way he could harm me.”

After a brief pause, she added in a quieter voice,

“And besides…”

“Yuichi wouldn’t do something like that.”

“There’s nothing to worry about.”

Yuichi stopped walking.

He looked at Chiba in disbelief.

He had fully expected her to distance herself after Lucifer’s warning.

Instead…

She had defended him without hesitation.

For some reason, that simple gesture warmed his heart.

Lucifer, however, remained unconvinced.

“Even so, I cannot allow my Lady to continue living in such circumstances.”

Before he could continue, Yuichi suddenly raised his hand.

“Actually…”

“I have an idea.”

Both demons turned toward him.

“Why don’t you rent a place nearby?”

Yuichi explained patiently.

“If you live close to us, it’ll be convenient for you to check on Chiba whenever you want.”

Lucifer thought about it for a moment.

Then he nodded.

“An excellent proposal.”

“Let’s proceed with that plan.”

And so, the group’s objective for the day was decided.

Before nightfall, they needed to find Lucifer a place to live.

Under Yuichi’s guidance, they soon arrived at a nearby real estate agency.

The moment they entered, an energetic employee greeted them.

“Welcome!”

“Are you here to look for a property…”

“…or perhaps to see me instead?”

The friendly joke immediately lightened the atmosphere.

The negotiations went surprisingly smoothly.

Yuichi handled most of the conversation while Lucifer quietly inspected several apartments.

Eventually, they even found a room he seemed satisfied with.

Everything appeared to be going perfectly.

Until…

Lucifer reached into his pocket.

He proudly placed a stack of ten-thousand-yen notes onto the table.

The real estate agent stared at the money.

Then stared at Lucifer.

His expression instantly darkened.

“You think this is enough to rent an apartment?”

He slammed the desk.

“Stop wasting my time.”

“Get out!”

Less than ten seconds later—

All three of them were standing outside.

Silently.

As the sun slowly disappeared beyond the horizon, the orange glow of sunset gradually faded into evening.

Unfortunately, despite visiting several more agencies, Lucifer still hadn’t managed to spend his money.

Everywhere they went, they were turned away.

Even the smallest rooms proved impossible to rent.

The repeated rejection was more than the proud demon could bear.

“How dare these insignificant humans show such disrespect to the Grand Marshal of the Demon Realm…”

He clenched his fists.

“When I conquer this world…”

“They shall learn the true meaning of suffering.”

He grumbled the entire way down the street.

Seeing the sky grow darker by the minute, Yuichi finally sighed.

He still had work the next morning.

There wasn’t much time left.

“If you don’t mind…”

“You could stay at my place tonight.”

“We’ll figure something else out tomorrow.”

“It’s a little cramped, but it should be enough for one night.”

Lucifer didn’t even hesitate.

“No.”

“You two should return home.”

“I’ll solve the problem myself.”

“Huh?”

Yuichi blinked.

“But—”

Before he could finish, Chiba gently tugged on his sleeve.

“Leave him alone.”

“He’ll handle it.”

“Trust me.”

“Lucifer is an outstanding commander.”

Yuichi couldn’t help thinking to himself.

Outstanding?

Based on today’s performance, I’m not entirely convinced…

Still, he reluctantly nodded.

“Alright.”

“But promise me one thing.”

“You have to obey the laws of this world.”

“Even if someone insults you, you can’t just punch them.”

“The rules here are different from yours.”

Lucifer listened carefully.

Then nodded with complete seriousness.

“I understand.”

“So instead of hitting them…”

“I’ll simply find a way to erase them from this world without leaving any evidence.”

Yuichi’s face instantly turned pale.

“That doesn’t make me feel better at all!”
