After Work, I Brought Home a Devilish Beauty - Chapter 79
In the kitchen, Yuichi lay on the floor, groaning in pain.
Chiba glanced down at him and clicked her tongue.
“If you ever try that again, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
Yuichi looked aggrieved.
“Don’t even talk about next time! That was already too much! I was only joking!”
To an outsider, the scene might have looked like domestic violence.
In reality, Yuichi had brought it entirely upon himself by sneaking up on Chiba.
Chiba sighed and was about to respond when she suddenly remembered something.
She turned toward the stove.
“Oh no! The fire’s too high!”
The soup was already boiling furiously.
“It’s all your fault!”
Ignoring Yuichi, Chiba hurried to turn off the gas and added some water to the pot.
Yuichi watched in confusion before slowly getting to his feet and approaching the stove.
He looked into the pot.
…Good grief.
The soup was so pale it almost looked like water.
He wasn’t even sure whether Chiba had added any seasoning.
Still, it was probably her first attempt at cooking.
Yuichi sighed.
“That’s not how you make soup. Let me teach you.”
Chiba turned around in surprise.
“What? You can cook?”
Yuichi smiled smugly and dramatically pulled his coat back.
“Don’t believe me? Hmph. Just wait and see. I’ll show you… my power!”
Chiba stared at him blankly.
“You’re making egg-drop soup?”
“Hmm. Let’s call it that for now.”
“So what’s the first step?”
“Salt.”
“Salt?”
“That bag of white granules. It makes the soup taste better.”
Chiba immediately reached for it.
“Wait! Don’t pour all of it in!”
Yuichi quickly stopped her.
“Let me finish explaining first!”
“But you said salt makes it taste better.”
“It does. Too much will make it unbearably salty.”
He took the spoon from her.
“One spoonful is enough.”
Chiba frowned.
“This is troublesome…”
Yuichi sighed.
Her intentions were admirable, but teaching Chiba to cook was clearly going to be a challenge.
“Do you still want to make egg-drop soup for Alice?”
Chiba fell silent.
She had nearly forgotten the reason she was cooking in the first place.
“Fine. What do I do next?”
“If you want to make something delicious for Alice, you’ll have to listen to me.”
“All right.”
Yuichi smiled proudly.
“That’s more like it.”
Then, without thinking, he reached out and gently patted Chiba on the head.
His supposedly foolproof technique immediately failed.
Chiba recoiled.
“How annoying!”
Yuichi froze.
“Huh?! Really…?”
“Don’t treat me like a child.”
Yuichi quietly withdrew his hand.
…So much for the head-pat technique.
