The weather was already getting a bit cold in late autumn.

When Fu Juezhou passed by the supermarket on her way home from get off work, she bought some meat and vegetables. Chu Shiqing, whoever got the news from somewhere, came here to find her.

It was almost eight o’clock when I got home.

After placing the groceries on the table, Fu Juezhou took off his dusty coat and put on an apron: “Chu Shiqing, if you have nothing else to do, hurry back home.”

Chu Shiqing sat on the only soft stool in the room, seemingly ignoring Fu Juezhou’s words, her expression gentle and calm: “Juezhou, your hair has grown a bit long, do you want to get it cut?”

Fu Juezhou rubbed his hair; it had indeed grown a bit, now long enough to tie into a small broom at the back of his head. “You’re really bored, why are you paying attention to my hair?”

Then, Fu Juezhou changed the subject, his tone turning cold: “You didn’t bully Tang Sui, did you?”

Chu Shiqing shook her head slightly, “No, I have no interest in her.”

Fu Juezhou scoffed and put the scarf on himself: “That’s for the best.”

Chu Shiqing stared at Fu Juezhou’s actions and sighed, “Juezhou, why did you abandon Aunt Fu?”

“Even if you’re not her biological child, Aunt Fu doesn’t mind. She’s very sad right now.”

Fu Juezhou picked up the newly bought groceries and walked towards the kitchen. “If you feel so sorry for her, why don’t you go and be her daughter yourself?”

The house was small overall, and the kitchen and living room were also small and connected, so Chu Shiqing could see Fu Juezhou without having to follow him.

“Juezhou, you’re just too arrogant. You’d rather be a proper young lady and come to this remote place.”

Fu Juezhou: “What’s there to be proud of? I’m not stupid. Those things aren’t mine anyway.”

“Do you think I’m the only one in the Fu family? There’s also Fu Linyin, Fu Cen’s child. In the end, what can an outsider like me get?”

“I might as well come out and see what I’m capable of doing.” But reality gave her a blow.

Chu Shiqing smiled slowly, “Juezhou, you’ve matured.”

“I have some money here, do you need it? I can sponsor your startup.”

Fu Juezhou glanced at Chu Shiqing with a calm expression. Her phoenix eyes were long and narrow, and her nose was high and straight. Her skin was a little dark, but she looked very powerful and imposing. “Chu Shiqing, what exactly are you here for?”

“It’s been three days in a row. If you have something to say, just say it.”

“You’ve said enough about kicking someone when they’re down, haven’t you? I don’t have what you want.”

Chu Shiqing coughed muffledly, her thin body trembling with each cough. “Juezhou, we’re friends, don’t think too badly of me.”

Fu Juezhou washed the meat and began to cut it. Although his movements were a little clumsy, he was still able to cut it into shape. “How can I not think too badly of you?”

Do you remember that teacher from when you first started junior high school?

“Just because I insulted you, my hands and legs were broken.”

“When I was a kid, I had a dog whose mouth was sewn shut.”

“Tsk, quite a lot going on.”

“Chu Shiqing, you’re just like your mentally ill mother, you’re mentally ill, do you understand?”

Chu Shiqing lowered her long eyelashes and chuckled softly: “But, Juezhou, that teacher tried to molest me.”

“That dog almost bit me.”

“You always think I’m a bad person, but you never care about me.”

“I only have you as a friend.”

Fu Juezhou stopped chopping vegetables and, after a long while, said, “Why didn’t you say so back then?”

Chu Shiqing smiled faintly, “No one would feel sorry for me if I told them.” It’s just some trivial matter.

Fu Juezhou let out a breath, turned to look at Chu Shiqing, and said, “I’m sorry, I’ve been neglecting you.”

Chu Shiqing shook her head: “Anyway, it’s all in the past, so let’s not talk about it anymore.”

“Juezhou, I truly wish you well.”

“I know you work on the construction site, but don’t go anymore, it’s bad for your health.”

Fu Juezhou smiled indifferently: “It’s fine, three hundred yuan a day.”

“I want to earn some money for when I go to college.” She had already learned everything that she could learn in high school.

She only went to school every day because it was at the request of Grandma Fu.

Fu Juezhou’s rented apartment was very cramped, and the smell of cooking oil permeated the entire room when he cooked.

Chu Shiqing started coughing incessantly after smelling it.

Upon hearing this, Fu Juezhou shouted, “Don’t try to tough it out with your sickly body. Go outside and wait by the door for a while until I’m done.”

Chu Shiqing did not refuse. She walked slowly to the door, opened it, and went out.

As the door closed, the lights inside gradually went out. The narrow, cramped hallway seemed to be filled with a damp, rotten smell. When the hallway quieted down and the lights went out, Chu Shiqing’s face disappeared into the darkness.

No one could see through her emotions.

“Da da da”.

Light footsteps sounded, and the lights in the hallway came on again.

Chu Shiqing slowly raised her eyes and looked at the person who had just arrived.

Long black hair, bright red lips, and a pair of captivating eyes that exuded a rich charm under the lamplight.

Chu Shiqing smiled gently again, her voice warm and soothing: “Tang Sui, you’ve come too.”

Tang Sui returned the smile, “Shi Qing, I didn’t expect to meet you here.”

“Let’s talk about why we put Zhang Qiaoyun in the school.”

“I think you should know by now that I’ll get angry if you lie again.”

Chu Shiqing’s lips slowly curved into a straight line, her face expressionless, her cold demeanor completely different from before. She stared at Tang Sui and said softly, “It seems you’ve been convinced it was me from the very beginning.”

“Tang Sui, don’t you think this is very unfair to me?”

Chapter 56

Tang Sui stood in front of Chu Shiqing. Although Chu Shiqing was thin, he was tall enough that Tang Sui had to tilt her chin slightly to meet Chu Shiqing’s gaze.

The lights in the hallway weren’t very bright; they were just enough to illuminate a person’s face. Chu Shiqing lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes covering her deep pupils.

Tang Sui raised her hand and hooked Chu Shiqing’s chin, pressing her thumb against Chu’s pale pink lips. “Shiqing, you can’t hide anything from me.”

“Zhang Qiaoyun should have told you, so listen to her and don’t deny it.”

Chu Shiqing reached out and grasped Tang Sui’s wrist, turning his eyes to focus on Tang Sui’s face. His face remained expressionless, silent as he gazed at her, his eyes fixed on her features.

Tang Sui wasn’t in a hurry. The force around her wrist kept tightening, as if expressing her dissatisfaction. Tang Sui didn’t struggle, and her smile remained as nonchalant as ever.

The corridor lights dimmed again, leaving only a sliver of warm light filtering through from other apartments.

After a long while, a soft sigh rang out: “It was indeed all my doing.”

The lights came on again, exposing Chu Shiqing’s entire face.

The cold, white light shone directly on Chu Shiqing’s face, making her already sickly pale face appear even more bloodless, and her lips were so pale they were almost colorless.

Her face remained expressionless, only her eyes were as dark as ink, unreadable and devoid of any emotion. “Tang Sui, I don’t like you.” Her voice was soft, slightly hoarse with a sickly tone, and every word was extremely clear.

“Your appearance has changed the trajectory of everyone.”

Releasing Tang Sui’s hand, Chu Shiqing took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the hand that had touched Tang Sui. “Jue Zhou’s matter was unexpected.”

“I just want the old lady of the Fu family to deal with you.” As she spoke, Chu Shiqing’s lips curled up, and her face once again put on a gentle facade. “Go inside, Juezhou must miss you a lot.”

Tang Sui narrowed her eyes and asked, “Why do you hate the change of trajectory?”

Chu Shiqing turned around, his back to Tang Sui, and said, “Because everyone is changing for the better.”

“I don’t like it.” Qiao Ling and Yi Luoya were pampered by their parents from birth, and were spoiled into innocence, so they hurt others without restraint, which is inherently evil.

Although Fu Juezhou is not Fu Qing’s biological child, Fu Qing doted on him. Fu Juezhou is arrogant and never respects others, which is a bad thing.

If things continue like this, one day they will get into trouble because of their personalities.

But Song Fanxing… whose upbringing was similar to hers, remained hanging in the air, even though it was about to be destroyed by Qiao Ling and the others.

The door was opened, and the pungent smell of cooking oil instantly spread out.

Chu Shiqing coughed violently, gripping the door frame, clutching the fabric at his chest, his back slightly hunched, looking as if he might fall at any moment.

Tang Sui didn’t try to comfort her; she walked past Chu Shiqing and went straight into the house.

Perhaps Chu Shiqing had a difficult childhood, but it wasn’t caused by her.

Tang Sui’s gaze swept around the room and quickly locked onto Fu Juezhou, who was cooking with his back to her.

She raised the corners of her lips and slowly walked over.

Chu Shiqing stood at the door, and after her cough subsided, she chose to leave.

No one would care if she stayed.

Sitting in the car, gazing at the myriad lights outside the window, Chu Shiqing’s expression grew weary. “This is so boring.” She was the only one left behind.

In the cheap rented room, Fu Juezhou turned off the stove and ladled out the cooked dishes from the pot.

I turned the heat up a bit too high, and it got a little burnt, so it doesn’t look very appetizing.

However, Chu Shiqing can choose whether to eat it or not.

It was already quite generous of her to take some money out of the only 2,000 yuan she had left to buy beef.

As Fu Juezhou turned around with the dishes in his hand, he saw someone leaning against the door. His hand trembled, and the plate almost slipped from his grasp.

“Tang Sui, what brings you here?” Fu Juezhou’s tone was unpleasant, and his furrowed brows and cold, impatient expression made him seem very annoyed.

Tang Sui smiled gently and said, “If you miss your good daughter, then of course I’ll come.” After saying that, Tang Sui took two or three steps closer to Fu Juezhou, looked down at the dish, and asked with some curiosity, “What kind of dish is this? It’s dark and I can’t really tell.”
