A Long-Awaited Marriage - Chapter 50
Although he boasted to Cai Qingqing, he knew very well that while he could trick Lu Anran into taking Su Zheyan on a trip, it wouldn’t be easy for Lu Anran to become the mistress of this villa.
Thinking of Lu Anran, Su Ang’s feelings became complicated again.
Bored out of his mind, he scrolled through Lu Anran’s WeChat Moments, reading each post one by one. Perhaps he was too tired, for he fell into a deep sleep.
…
Jiang Ye led Zhou Yichen, but before they even entered the house, a middle-aged man’s roar rang out, “What time is it? We’re still not home! This brat is going to drive me crazy!”
“You’ve already eaten. If you want to wait, then wait. If you don’t want to, then don’t nag. It’s rare for the child to come back,” Qiao Xiuzhen muttered softly.
“You talk too much! You shut up later, and I’ll teach this son of a bitch a lesson!”
Looking at Jiang Ye’s indifferent expression, Zhou Yichen couldn’t help but feel worried for him. Was his father really that fierce to him?
Jiang snorted indifferently, then glanced at Zhou Yichen with a hint of apology. “I regret calling you here. This house is too oppressive. You should keep quiet for now to avoid hurting innocent people.”
Zhou Yichen didn’t say anything, but patted Jiang Ye’s shoulder reassuringly.
Jiang entered the password, but it had been changed, so he had no choice but to knock loudly. He was afraid that if he didn’t knock, the furious person inside wouldn’t hear him.
After a short while, the door was opened a crack, and Qiao Xiuzhen saw her son return. She was initially pleasantly surprised, but then frowned and said, “Your father has been drinking and is in a bad mood. Don’t talk back to him.”
“Hello, Auntie~” Zhou Yichen spoke up at the right time.
Qiao Xiuzhen then noticed that there was an outsider present, so she opened the door wider and looked at Zhou Yichen somewhat awkwardly, “You brought a friend back? Haven’t eaten yet? Come in and eat.”
Hearing the door close, the drunken Jiang Dahai grabbed a chopstick from the table and threw it at Jiang Ye, cursing, “Open your dog eyes and see what time it is!”
Zhou Yichen was taken aback. Without thinking, he quickly grabbed the chopsticks, gently placed them back on the table, and greeted them softly, “Uncle, hello.”
Qiao Xiuzhen coughed awkwardly, “Dahai, Jiang Ye and his friend are back.” She then hurriedly pulled out benches for Jiang Ye and Zhou Yichen in a conciliatory manner.
Jiang Dahai rubbed his face vigorously. He’d actually brought a stranger home without even informing him beforehand. Feeling humiliated, he glared at Jiang Ye and scolded, “How dare you come back? Do you even care about this family?”
Jiang gritted her teeth and clenched her fists tightly. “Since you know I don’t care about this family, why did you call me back?”
“How dare you speak to your father like that! Qiao Xiuzhen, look at the fine son you’ve raised!”
Jiang Dahai slammed his hand on the table, startling Zhou Yichen so much that he didn’t dare to breathe. He had never seen such a tense scene in his own home.
Qiao Xiuzhen was helpless. Jiang Dahai was like this whenever he drank a little alcohol. Her son hated him, and she, as his mother, suffered as a result.
Jiang rarely brings friends home, and not wanting her son to lose face, she said gently, “It’s past noon, you must be starving. Come and eat.”
On the way back, they encountered a traffic jam, which delayed them for quite a while, and the two of them were indeed hungry. Jiang also gave Zhou Yichen a look that signaled him not to talk and just to eat.
We’ll leave after we finish eating.
“Hey, how come your lousy game company hasn’t gone bankrupt yet? All you do is produce this frivolous nonsense.” Jiang Dahai took a sip of his drink, looked at his son’s handsome face, and inexplicably got angry, deliberately saying things that hurt his feelings.
Even with Zhou Yichen’s good temper, he couldn’t remain calm after hearing this. How could a father so ruthless as to undermine his son’s career? And that was his company after all!
But he was, after all, a guest, and outwardly maintained his politeness. Jiang was furious, slammed down his chopsticks, and was about to speak when Zhou Yichen pressed him down firmly.
Brother, eating is the most important thing. Once you’ve finished eating, you can leave.
“I’m not eating anymore.” Jiang had lost her appetite and simply pushed her rice bowl away. “Just tell me why you called me back today. If it’s just to cause trouble, I’m not going to play along.”
“Jiang Ye, you rarely come back, why can’t you talk to your father properly?” Qiao Xiuzhen knew that her son was hostile to Jiang Dahai, but she still sided with Jiang Dahai.
“Does he look like he’s talking properly?” Jiang laughed angrily. “You two are a perfect match!”
“Zhou Yichen, stop eating, let’s go!”
