Ding Shuyao had just picked up a glass of water and brought it to her lips when she heard Lu Anran’s words, so she quickly put the glass back in its place.
“A man’s heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea. Sometimes what you see with your eyes is not necessarily the truth.”
Lu Anran took a bite of her apple and said seriously, “Some men, even though they like you, pretend to be indifferent, just to get your attention!”
“It’s impossible to get his attention. But he wasn’t always aloof; Julie said he was easy to get along with.”
Ding Shuyao recalled that Zhou Yichen had spoken to her with a smile at the She Shang Hot Pot restaurant.
She chuckled and gave Lu Anran a light shove, saying, “You talk like you know everything about men~”
Lu Anran felt she had hit the nail on the head. Resting her chin on her hand, she added, “I think your receptionist colleague was right. Your boss might actually have a crush on you! Haha~”
“Tell me, what grown man would put on a female employee’s shoes when they don’t know her well? Putting on shoes! That’s a very intimate gesture!”
Lu Anran deliberately dragged out the word “intimate.” Then she nudged Ding Shuyao’s elbow and stared at her with a mischievous grin.
Ding Shuyao blushed and said, “Lu Anran, you’re doomed! How dare you make fun of me! Watch my back scratcher!” With that, she stretched out her two delicate claws and attacked Lu Anran’s elbow.
Lu Anran was unable to dodge in time and was pinned down on the sofa by Ding Shuyao, who “abused” her.
“Your Majesty, have mercy!” Lu Anran raised her hands in surrender, truly terrified of Ding Shuyao’s tickling.
After the two had their fun, Ding Shuyao asked Lu Anran, “Ranran, do you want to be in a relationship?”
Lu Anran smiled and chuckled, “Oh dear, so someone’s fallen for someone~ You wouldn’t happen to have a crush on your boss too, would you~”
“Ugh~ I’m being serious! For a fleeting moment, I suddenly felt like falling in love~” Ding Shuyao lay on the sofa cushions, a hint of longing in her eyes.
“You don’t know, Zhang Zifan and Sun Yinyin got married last month. I can’t believe that a scumbag and a green tea b*tch actually ended up together~” Ding Shuyao pouted, unable to describe her feelings.
Lu Anran pulled her into her arms with a touch of heartache. “What’s wrong? Still thinking about him? I think you’re all bark and no bite.”
“Pah!” Ding Shuyao spat fiercely. “He doesn’t even deserve it! I just feel that when you reach a certain age, you should fall in love and get married. Otherwise, what’s the point of living?”
Ding Shuyao wriggled out of Lu Anran’s arms, leaned against the sofa cushions, and faced Lu Anran. “Ranran, you haven’t dated anyone in the past four years. Are you still thinking about your ex-boyfriend? Or is it because you haven’t met anyone who makes your heart flutter?”
Lu Anran lay down on the sofa cushions with Ding Shuyao, and after a long while, she said, “I don’t know.”
“Marriage… seems so far away from me~ I haven’t even thought about it. As for dating… I’m so busy running my shop right now, where would I find the time to date~ Besides, who would I date?”
She will never find someone as good as Jiang Ye, someone who loves her as much…
Both girls fell into deep thought at the same time.
“Hey! I’ve got it!” Ding Shuyao suddenly nudged Lu Anran excitedly.
“What did you think of?” he blurted out, startling her.
Ding Shuyao leaned close to Lu Anran mysteriously and said, “Both of our company’s partners are incredibly handsome. How about we each take one? Maybe we can even become the boss’s wives at Bufan Technology someday!”
“When the company has a team-building event, I’ll take you to meet them. What do you think?”
Lu Anran covered her mouth, trying hard to suppress her laughter until her stomach ached. “Ding Shuyao, you still won’t admit it? You’re clearly in love with your boss!”
“What? I’m just taking advantage of my proximity to the source. As for feelings, they can be cultivated slowly~” Ding Shuyao pouted dismissively.
“Really?” Lu Anran was a little skeptical, poking Ding Shuyao’s forehead. “I remember someone saying something like ‘better to have nothing than something bad.’ This is a quick slap in the face!”
“Hehe~” Ding Shuyao chuckled dryly, “I call this adapting to changes. You can’t be too rigid in your thinking. Otherwise, you’ll miss out on so many wonderful things~”
That seems to make sense.
“Ranran, how are you?”
“Ugh, we’ll talk about it later~” Lu Anran replied vaguely. “It’s still early, shall we go for a stroll around town?”
Ding Shuyao widened her eyes and exclaimed, “Great! Maybe I’ll even find love!”
