A Long-Awaited Marriage - Chapter 17
Watching Ding Shuyao slip away, Lu Anran couldn’t help but sigh: “It’s so good to be carefree! You can see things in a positive light.”
She was trapped in memories of Jiang Ye, unable to extricate herself.
Lu Anran sat on the sofa for a while, then went to her room to sleep. Ding Shuyao lay sprawled on the bed, the blankets kicked to the floor, fast asleep.
She fell asleep so quickly!
Lu Anran chuckled and pinched Ding Shuyao’s cheek, then tucked her in. Suddenly, she felt a little envious of Ding Shuyao.
She’s someone who truly knows how to be happy!
The next morning, Lu Anran got up early as usual, did some warm-up exercises, and then went out for a run around the neighborhood.
It was another sunny day, and Lu Anran felt unusually peaceful.
A warm breeze caressed her face as Lu Anran, wearing Bluetooth earphones, played her favorite song, “Pillow Talk,” on repeat.
My mind was completely calm, without a single distracting thought. I ran forward step by step with unwavering determination.
I had just finished running a lap when I passed the gate of the residential area and vaguely saw a figure peering into the gate. The figure looked a bit like Su Ang.
“Mr. Su, what are you doing here?” Lu Anran pressed the pause button on the app on her phone and looked at Su Ang with a puzzled expression.
“I woke up suddenly this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep. I was thinking of taking a walk downstairs, but I ended up here.”
Su Ang smiled as he looked at Lu Anran. Fine beads of sweat glistened on her fair forehead, adding an unexpected touch of playfulness and cuteness to her appearance.
“Oh. I’m going for a run, do you want to join me?” Lu Anran glanced at him indifferently.
“That’s great. I also really enjoy sports.” Su Ang pointed to the large iron gate.
Lu Anran gave an awkward smile. “Sorry, I forgot to open the door for you.” As she spoke, she pressed the switch from the inside of the iron gate.
“Your community’s security is pretty good~” Su Ang looked around and followed Lu Anran’s steps.
“New residential areas are all pretty much the same.”
After running for only fifteen minutes, Su Ang’s legs started to ache, and he couldn’t keep up with Lu Anran’s pace.
Oh no, I haven’t exercised in ages, I’m about to give myself away.
Do you run every day?
“Yes, I’ve been doing this for two years now. Mr. Su, are you tired? If you’re feeling unwell, you can walk slowly or take a rest.”
“Call me Su Ang.” This insistence on the form of address was probably Su Ang’s last bit of stubbornness; he didn’t want to admit to Lu Anran that he had neglected his exercise.
It’s embarrassing to say that a 33-year-old man like him can’t outrun a young girl.
“I’ve been busy with company matters lately and haven’t exercised for a while. How about starting tomorrow, I come over every morning and run with you? You won’t mind, will you?”
Su Ang took a slight breath and quickly caught up with Lu Anran’s pace.
Lu Anran paused, then continued walking forward, saying calmly, “Whatever.”
After finishing her jogging and brisk walking, Lu Anran did two more sets of stretching exercises, and Su Ang followed behind her, imitating her movements quite well.
Lu Anran’s focus seemed to leave an imprint on his heart. He felt his heart beat even faster.
What do you eat after your morning exercise?
“Let’s see what’s in the fridge.” Lu Anran smiled. “What? You want to treat me to breakfast again?”
Su Ang smiled slightly, looking at Lu Anran with gentle eyes, “I wonder if I have the honor?”
“Daddy!” A child’s innocent voice broke Su Ang’s awkward situation. Su Ang’s nanny was standing at the entrance of the residential compound, holding Su Zheyan’s hand.
“Dad, I woke up and didn’t see you, so I guessed you were at Aunt Ranran’s house. And it really was!” Su Zheyan exclaimed happily, completely unconcerned about the strange looks from others.
Lu Anran was so embarrassed she could dig her toes out of a three-bedroom apartment. Su Ang’s handsome face turned bright red. This kid, doesn’t he know when to speak?
I shouldn’t have been soft-hearted yesterday. Even if I want to be a good and responsible father, I still have to discipline him when necessary.
“Mr. Su, Yan Yan kept insisting on coming to see you, so I brought him here. I’ll take him back now.” The nanny was very perceptive and pulled Su Zheyan away.
“I don’t want to go! I don’t want to go! I want to go to Aunt Ranran’s house too! Why can Daddy go, but I can’t!”
The child, who had just been happy, immediately changed his expression. Su Zheyan angrily shook off the nanny’s hand and hid behind Lu Anran.
Lu Anran was both amused and exasperated. More and more people were coming and going in the neighborhood, and people would occasionally glance in their direction. She didn’t want to be the center of attention.
“Little Su Zheyan, you’re up so early and haven’t had breakfast yet, have you? Why don’t you come upstairs with Auntie and get something to eat?”
Su Ang gave his son a warning glare, knowing he couldn’t lash out in front of Lu Anran, and said, “Then I’ll respectfully comply.”
