“Your best friend is quite interesting.”

Lu Anran nodded: “Yes, that’s just how she is. She’s very easygoing and straightforward.

“Hmm, I can tell. You guys often come to this restaurant for hot pot?”

“Yes. Yao Yao has a strong palate and loves this numbing and spicy flavor.” Lu Anran thought about how Yao Yao breaks out in pimples whenever she eats spicy food, and guessed she would be wailing with her face in her hands for another week.

She couldn’t help but smile, her lips pursed. Her eyebrows curved into crescents, and her eyes seemed to hold a sky full of stars, dazzling and captivating.

Looking at her pure and sweet smile, Su Ang was momentarily lost in thought: “You’re different from four years ago. Now you look calm, confident, and very charming.”

Su Ang’s gaze gradually became fervent.

Four years ago?

Lu Anran’s smile froze on her face, and her heart skipped a beat.

She frowned, looking at Su Ang with suspicion: “You saw me four years ago? Who are you?”

“You really don’t remember me at all?” Su Ang felt a tightness in his chest.

Lu Anran, her brows still furrowed, shook her head: “Sorry, I really can’t remember…”

Su Ang let out a heavy sigh: “Nanjing South Railway Station. Have you forgotten? You were probably breaking up with your boyfriend back then, crying and begging me to be your new love… to make him give up.”

“I also got punched by your boyfriend. A really hard punch.”

Lu Anran opened her mouth in surprise, as a long-buried memory gradually surfaced in her mind. Fragments that had flashed through her mind earlier became clear again.

Four years ago, at Nanjing South Railway Station, she returned home after graduating from university. That day was June 21st.

Graduation season is also breakup season. She unilaterally decided to break up with Jiang Ye.

No matter how much Jiang Ye pressed or tried to win Lu Anran back, she remained unmoved. Jiang Ye then bought a train ticket and waited for Lu Anran at Nanjing South Railway Station.

As Lu Anran watched Jiang Ye rush towards her, without thinking, she grabbed a driver who had parked on the side of the road and begged him to cooperate in putting on a show.

When Jiang Ye flew into a rage, Lu Anran squatted on the ground and cried for a very long time…

The driver seemed to have offered her a pack of tissues, but she didn’t take them. After crying her fill, she dragged her luggage and boarded the high-speed train home.

Seeing her expression, Su Ang figured she must have remembered, so he laughed self-deprecatingly: “You really just grabbed someone randomly, you didn’t even see what I look like, yet I’ve remembered you for four years.”

Lu Anran felt a mix of emotions, a bittersweet sadness. Four years had passed, so long that she almost thought she had forgotten.

What a small world. She never imagined she would run into the stranger who had helped her back then.

“Yes, it’s been four years. I still owe you a thank you and an apology. Thankfully, God has given me this chance.” Lu Anran remained silent for a long time before she composed herself, extended her right hand, and smiled at Su Ang.

Su Ang smiled and gently took Lu Anran’s hand. “Now, you can get to know me again.”

Lu Anran withdrew her hand and glanced into the hot pot restaurant: “I wonder how Yao Yao is doing? She was never like this before.”

As if sensing her best friend’s worry, Ding Shuyao sneezed. When she came out of the bathroom after washing her hands, she ran into the interviewer, a man with gold-rimmed glasses.

Ding Shuyao was momentarily at a loss for words, standing there dumbfounded for a while before weakly greeting him, “Boss, what a coincidence.”

Zhou Yichen smiled and said, “Call me Zhou Yichen.” He looked like a friendly older brother next door, a stark contrast to his icy demeanor during the interview.

“You’re here for hot pot too? Why don’t we eat together?”

“No, no, no, I came with my best friend, and we’ve already finished eating!” Ding Shuyao shook her head vigorously. “She’s waiting for me at the door right now! She’s probably getting anxious. Mr. Zhou, please enjoy your meal!”

After saying that, he ran off again in a flash.

Just kidding, she hasn’t even officially started working yet, and she’s already having dinner with her boss. If they find something wrong with her, her job could be ruined.

Zhou Yichen looked at the energetic girl with amusement; she was quite different from the dignified and proper girl he had been during the interview.

“Who were you talking to just now?” Jiang asked him as soon as he sat down.

“It’s our company’s new receptionist. I didn’t expect her to be eating hot pot here too. But she’s already finished.”

“Oh,” Jiang replied casually. She wondered where the girl got her bow-tie egg case from.

Could it be related to that person?

“Yaoyao, why did it take you so long to come? Are you feeling better?” Lu Anran looked at Ding Shuyao with a worried expression.

“It’s nothing, I just ate too much. I just ran into my boss and we talked for a bit.”

“What a coincidence?” Lu Anran linked arms with Ding Shuyao, and the four of them walked towards the garage.

“Yes! What a coincidence!”
