A Long-Awaited Marriage - Chapter 10
Lu Anran looked at Su Zheyan with a bitter expression, then deliberately put on a stern face and admonished him, “Little Su Zheyan, I’ve already said it, I’m not your mother, and I never agreed to be your mother.”
Upon hearing this, Su Zheyan pouted in grievance, sadly released Lu Anran’s sleeve, took a step back, and shook her head repeatedly, saying, “No, no.”
That pitiful little face made one feel a little sorry for it.
“Ranran, who is this little boy? Why is he calling you ‘Mom’?” Ding Shuyao spoke up at the right moment, pointing at Su Zheyan with a puzzled look.
Lu Anran was so engrossed in her confrontation with Su Zheyan that she didn’t even notice Ding Shuyao had returned.
At this moment, as if seeing a savior, he quickly came out from behind the bar, stood next to Ding Shuyao, and whispered in her ear.
He said in a low voice, “I don’t know where this kid came from. He sat in front of my shop after I finished delivering the goods this morning.”
“He insists on recognizing me as his mother.” Lu Anran frowned; the thought of it was unbelievable.
Ding Shuyao frowned as well, “What about his mother?”
“He said his mother died. Later I called the police, and his dad took him away. I didn’t expect him to come back as soon as school was over.” Lu Anran shrugged helplessly.
Ding Shuyao’s eyes widened, her expression suddenly turning terrified. She whispered, “Ranran, you wouldn’t happen to be targeted by some human trafficking organization, would you? They’re here to scout the place!”
“They’ll use the lie that the child’s mother is dead to gain your sympathy and then kidnap you!”
The more Ding Shuyao thought about it, the more convinced she was that she had guessed the truth. Excitedly, she slapped her thigh and yelled at Su Zheyan, “Kid! Hey, I’m talking to you! Where’s your dad?!”
Su Zheyan stared nervously at the two whispering lovers, when Ding Shuyao suddenly shouted angrily, making him tremble all over.
When he came to his senses, he pouted and stomped his foot angrily, “I’m not a brat, I have a name, my name is Su Zheyan.”
He paused, then said, “Are you Mom’s… oh no, are you the pretty aunt’s good friend? How can you be so rude!”
Ding Shuyao was amused by his appearance. “Hey, you little rascal, you’ve got a sharp tongue. Tell me, where’s your dad? What’s your purpose in bothering Ranran? If you don’t tell me, I’m calling the police!”
Ding Shuyao raised her phone forcefully.
Su Zheyan was only five or six years old. He was a little scared in front of the two adults. He nervously twirled his fingers and said, “Dad is in the car.”
Lu Anran and Ding Shuyao immediately exchanged glances, understanding each other perfectly.
It really was premeditated.
But then Su Zheyan said slowly, “Dad said this is my own business and I have to handle it myself. He won’t help me.”
“Uh, this is really outrageous!” Ding Shuyao slapped her forehead. “So, your plan is to have Ranran be your mother?”
Su Zheyan nodded quickly. He wanted the pretty aunt to be his mother! That way, his father wouldn’t beat him so often anymore.
“I have to say, scammers these days are getting more and more sophisticated,” Ding Shuyao whispered in Lu Anran’s ear.
Lu Anran nodded slightly, but a strange feeling lingered in her heart, as if the truth of the matter was not like that.
The way the child’s father looked at her, in particular, held a hint of something unspoken. He also insisted he hadn’t mistaken her for someone else. What exactly is the connection between them?
Lu Anran couldn’t piece together even the slightest bit of her memory.
“Excuse me.” Su Ang walked in.
He sat in the car watching his son’s every move, feeling it was a bit unfair to let a child take the lead. But as a grown man, being too proactive might scare the girl away.
Her son would come to see her as soon as he got out of school, and she was also looking forward to it.
I look forward to meeting her.
It seems the son can’t handle it. But I can understand; what young woman would readily agree to be someone’s mother?
Su Ang took out two business cards from his pocket and handed them to Lu Anran and Ding Shuyao in turn, explaining with a slight apology, “I was in a hurry this morning and forgot to introduce myself. My name is Su Ang, and my son is Su Zheyan.”
He casually pulled his son to his side and gave him an approving look.
Su Zheyan was taken aback. It turned out that his father wasn’t just someone who hit and scolded people. Even when he didn’t do well, his father would praise him!
The gloom of rejection vanished instantly.
“Are you in advertising?” Ding Shuyao asked, secretly eyeing Su Ang while holding his business card.
He’s definitely handsome, with a dignified appearance and a kind face. He’s even better looking than the guy with the gold-rimmed glasses I interviewed today.
Why did I suddenly think of that man? We’d only just met.
