A Long-Awaited Marriage - Chapter 1
Youthful love is like a poem or a painting; those beautiful moments, like dazzling stars, illuminate the carefree years of youth.
The love, heartache, sweetness, and misunderstandings of those years are hidden between the lines.
Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, can we rediscover our true selves and grow old together with our beloved? — Prologue
…
The sun was shining brightly, and the weather was fine and sunny.
A long catwalk had been erected on the wide lawn, seemingly stretching as far as the eye could see.
The two sides of the runway were filled with beautiful pink roses.
The air was filled with a refreshing and pleasant fragrance, and pink rose petals drifted down from time to time, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere.
A generous “Wedding March” is playing on repeat.
More than a dozen pure white chairs were neatly arranged on both sides of the runway, with a small bunch of pink and white roses tied to the back of each chair.
The room was now full of guests, chatting and laughing with each other.
Whose wedding is this?
Lu Anran sat at the very back of the crowd and looked up in confusion.
Upon looking around, she saw her father, Lu Zhenjiang; her younger brother, Lu Youzhi; her best friend, Ding Shuyao; and her college roommate, Tang Mengting.
Strange, why are they all here?
Lu Anran half-covered her mouth and whispered towards the front, “Yaoyao, Yaoyao~”
The person in front of her seemed not to hear her and did not respond.
Lu Anran quickly walked over to Ding Shuyao’s side, squatted down next to her chair, and asked again, “Yaoyao, what are you doing here?”
Ding Shuyao simply nodded at her and smiled politely. Her expression suggested that she didn’t recognize her.
Lu Anran was puzzled. What exactly was going on?
She then greeted her father, brother, and Tang Mengting in turn, and received the same response from each of them.
Lu Anran was completely dumbfounded.
She looked around; she seemed to know all these people, yet she also seemed to know none of them.
A pink petal drifted down and landed right in Lu Anran’s palm, only to be blown away by the wind and drifted further and further away.
Suddenly, someone in the crowd whistled, “The bride and groom are here!”
Lu Anran also looked in the direction everyone was looking.
At the end of the long runway, a newlywed couple walked slowly towards each other, hand in hand.
The groom wore a well-tailored black suit and a fuchsia tie. His upright posture and handsome, unrestrained face were particularly eye-catching.
Lu Anran was stunned! She stared blankly in the direction the newcomer was heading.
The groom is actually Jiang Ye!
Her first love, the one she cruelly dumped, is also the one she has kept deep in her heart for the past four years.
The person I only dare to secretly recall in the dead of night.
Lu Anran was extremely sad, and her unruly tears struggled to break free from their confinement.
He got married…
Who is the bride?
Lu Anran hurriedly wiped away her tears, trying to see the bride’s face clearly.
The bride wore a pure white wedding dress, like a fairy’s feather robe, light and ethereal. She wore a long, trailing veil, her head slightly bowed, and held a bouquet of pink and white roses in her hands.
Lu Anran couldn’t see her face clearly at all, only that her skin was as white as snow and a sweet smile was on her lips.
Lu Anran rubbed her eyes hard, but still couldn’t see clearly.
However, she felt that the bride was very familiar.
Who could it be?
The long veil moved forward little by little as its owner walked. A breeze blew, and the end of the veil touched the back of Lu Anran’s hand before gently sliding away.
Lu Anran opened her mouth, but was speechless.
She watched as Jiang on the stage lifted the bride’s veil and gently kissed the bride’s forehead and lips.
Her heart trembled and ached. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t see the bride’s face.
At this moment, Ding Shuyao, who was sitting in front, suddenly shouted to the bride on the stage: “Ranran, you must be happy!”
Ranran?
Is the bride’s name Ranran?
But she was also Ranran! Lu Anran felt a sudden dizziness, and her heart ached violently again.
“At this happy moment, I want to give this bouquet to my best friend!”
The bride spoke slowly and sweetly. Even though Lu Anran couldn’t see her face clearly, she could feel the bride’s shyness and sweetness.
But why does this voice sound so familiar?
Suddenly, all the guests in the audience turned to look at her, and applause rang out for a long time.
With a slight effort, the bride’s bouquet landed steadily in Lu Anran’s arms.
“Lu Anran, you must be happy!”
“Lu Anran, you must be happy!”
Someone whistled again, and Lu Anran looked up, only to find that everyone around her had disappeared, leaving her standing there alone in a daze.
…
“Thud,” the sound of something falling startled Lu Anran awake, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Ugh, it’s that dream again!
