Xu Suxin licked her lips.

Dealing with an intelligent dog was truly troublesome.

Lu Chenxing could see through every scheme she came up with.

Even seduction wasn’t enough.

“She’ll investigate your business secrets,” Xu Suxin said lazily, “and then threaten you into giving me that one hundred million.”

She picked up the necklace, pressed the chain lightly against Lu Chenxing’s chest, then slowly looped it around her neck.

The chain had been sealed inside the box for years, leaving the metal cold against the skin.

Lu Chenxing’s breathing faltered.

Without warning, she tore the necklace away, seized Xu Suxin’s wrist, twisted both of her hands behind her back, and restrained her with practiced ease.

“Stop wasting your time,” she said stiffly.

“I won’t play with you, much less become your toy.”

Xu Suxin refused to be controlled.

She caught the snake-shaped pendant between her teeth and smiled.

“Do you even know how to use it?”

Freeing one hand, she removed the ring attached behind the R-shaped stud and placed it against Lu Chenxing’s chest.

“Let it bite you.”

Holding the butterfly-shaped clasp between her fingertips, she demonstrated it with surprising familiarity.

“You can wear both pieces yourself… or we can each wear one and make them ring together.”

“No wonder I came up with this five years ago.”

“I really knew how to have fun.”

Her eyes drifted toward Lu Chenxing’s chest.

Unfortunately…

There was no piercing.

Xu Suxin pinched the butterfly’s delicate wings.

The sapphire butterfly rested briefly against her crimson lips before she leaned forward again.

Her hair slipped over her shoulders as the butterfly clasp opened, gently fastening itself onto Lu Chenxing.

Afraid the clip might hurt her, Xu Suxin softly kissed the skin beneath it before lightly adjusting the butterfly.

Its tiny wings trembled with the movement.

Unable to resist, Xu Suxin leaned in teasingly.

Lu Chenxing frowned, her breathing noticeably heavier.

“Take it off.”

“Isn’t it beautiful?”

Xu Suxin whispered.

“Touch it and the wings move.”

She stepped back without using her hands.

Each steady breath Lu Chenxing took caused the butterfly’s wings to flutter slightly.

The sight was unexpectedly beautiful.

The butterfly seemed alive.

Lu Chenxing pinched the sapphire between her fingers and pushed it lightly between Xu Suxin’s lips.

She stirred it teasingly before trapping her tongue with the gemstone.

The sapphire nearly slipped down her throat, but Xu Suxin caught it lightly between her teeth.

Interesting.

The next moment, Lu Chenxing wrapped an arm around her waist and pressed her against the edge of the table.

The necklace hanging beneath her swayed gently.

Xu Suxin tilted her head back, carefully regulating her breathing to avoid swallowing the gemstone.

Lu Chenxing really was astonishingly restrained.

Before Xu Suxin could recover, Lu Chenxing stood upright again, grasped the back of her neck, and looked directly at her.

Xu Suxin smiled.

A faint flush had appeared on Lu Chenxing’s cheeks.

Her breathing was uneven.

Though clearly affected, she continued forcing herself to remain composed.

She reached out, removed the sapphire from Xu Suxin’s mouth, then calmly picked up the discarded medical report and tossed it into the trash.

After straightening her clothes, she looked as though nothing had happened.

Xu Suxin had no intention of leaving.

Afraid she wouldn’t get another chance to enter the study, she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and softened her voice.

“What’s the computer password?”

“Can I borrow the study for a meeting?”

“You’ve locked me in here. I don’t even know how to explain my disappearance to the board.”

Lu Chenxing let out a faint laugh.

“You’re about to go bankrupt.”

“And you’re still thinking about meetings.”

Her words were icy, carrying unmistakable mockery.

After Lu Chenxing left, Xu Suxin tried her own password.

It failed.

She tested several passwords she commonly used.

None of them worked.

She carefully recalled the past.

Back then, she had already begun participating in company affairs.

At first, she suspected someone had deliberately arranged for Lu Chenxing to enter her life.

Later, she even bought Lu Chenxing a computer and dragged her into playing games together.

Whenever Lu Chenxing made a mistake, she would punish her by making her play another round.

She treated her like a little puppy.

Eventually, she changed the password to the last four digits of her own ID card plus the last four digits of Lu Chenxing’s.

She entered the numbers one after another.

Her fingertip hovered above the Enter key.

Just then—

“President Lu!”

A voice came from outside.

Xu Suxin immediately pulled her hand back.

Cold sweat spread across her back.

“President Lu, it’s time for lunch.”

The Filipino maid spoke flawless Chinese.

“Why are you standing here?”

Silence.

There was no reply outside.

Lu Chenxing had never left.

She had simply been standing outside the study the entire time.

Watching.

Waiting.

Xu Suxin instantly understood.

If she had pressed Enter…

She would have exposed everything.

Typing in that password would have been the same as admitting her amnesia was fake.

Lu Chenxing…

Xu Suxin stared at the dark computer screen, her heartbeat racing.

She had no doubt that if she had confirmed the password, Lu Chenxing would have walked in immediately.

Even now…

Lu Chenxing still hadn’t lowered her guard.

Xu Suxin clenched her teeth.

What a terrifyingly intelligent devil.

*

Xu Suxin remained upstairs only briefly.

Downstairs, Lu Chenxing had already changed into casual gray clothes.

The soft fabric fit comfortably against her figure.

She sat elegantly at the dining table, holding a spoon as she quietly drank her soup.

Every movement remained refined.

Only by lowering one’s gaze could one notice that the silver chain once attached to the headboard had now been extended to Xu Suxin’s ankle.

Once again, the two sat across from each other in their twisted arrangement.

Bound together.

Neither of them mentioned the study.

Xu Suxin buried her frustration and pretended nothing had happened.

The meal passed in complete silence.

Only the ticking clock echoed through the room.

That evening, Xu Suxin returned upstairs to shower.

The company remained eerily quiet.

Those old men were undoubtedly waiting for her “results.”

Like vultures waiting for her to sell herself in exchange for one hundred million.

That money represented her final chance.

If she obtained it, Lu Chenxing would become both her creditor and her shield.

She could apply for bankruptcy protection and finally escape the endless debt collectors and lawyer’s letters.

It was her last hope.

After dinner, Lu Chenxing returned to the study.

Xu Suxin crossed her legs, watching the chain around her ankle remain completely still.

The entire villa was silent.

Lu Chenxing’s side was especially quiet.

Like an immovable mountain.

Had she already contacted those old men?

If she joined forces with them, Xu Suxin would be swallowed whole.

Thinking back to everything that had happened between them, Xu Suxin suddenly remembered the worn chair in the study.

A chill crept across her skin.

The idea that Lu Chenxing could calmly sit there working afterward left her strangely unsettled.

At that very moment…

Lu Chenxing switched on the computer.

The screen displayed several saved photographs.

One showed only Xu Suxin’s back as she sat at the desk.

Another captured Lu Chenxing buried against Xu Suxin’s chest, her fingers hooked around the blue necklace.

The final image showed Xu Suxin with her hands restrained behind her back against the desk.

Her eyes were narrowed in discomfort.

The sapphire rested between her lips.

Moist.

Lu Chenxing watched the image quietly.

Very good.

She liked seeing Xu Suxin in pain.

The only disappointment…

Was that this time, when Xu Suxin suffered, her eyes reflected nothing back.

Afterward, Lu Chenxing continued browsing older photographs.

Many included Xu Suxin together with Qian Shanyue and Chen Jiumeng.

Xu Suxin had always been especially close to them.

At eighteen, Xu Suxin had already been wild and unruly.

In one photograph she wore riding clothes, a crop resting casually in her hand as she smiled with arrogant confidence.

Qian Shanyue stood beside her with an arm naturally draped across her shoulder.

The intimacy between them was unmistakable.

In Lu Chenxing’s eyes…

Qian Shanyue was an obstacle.

One that deserved to disappear.

Her attention eventually returned to the necklace.

The blue gemstone had long since dried.

Its earlier brilliance had faded.

She wanted to see Xu Suxin wearing it herself.

Tonight…

Everything was unusually peaceful.

Xu Suxin lay awake.

She secretly guessed Lu Chenxing was probably regretting allowing herself to be affected by desire.

Old-fashioned woman.

She sat up, intending to look for painkillers in her bag before checking the study again.

Just then—

The bedroom door opened.

Lu Chenxing stood outside holding the velvet box.

Still carrying that same restrained, ascetic aura.

She opened the lid, lifted the necklace between her fingers, and tossed it toward Xu Suxin.

It struck her lightly.

Xu Suxin frowned.

“Are you crazy?”

“Did you suddenly lose your mind in the middle of the night?”

Lu Chenxing looked directly at her.

“Put it on.”
